  1. Miller will re-sign. I the post game interview after the Coyotes game, he said about Podz, I can't wait to see what he does for us. I think JT will be around for a while. Heck, the Canucks haven't had an impactful player like Miller since Henrik Sedin.
  2. Miller is in Canucks record setting territory, and he's not even 30 yet. That's one way to look at it. He will be re-signed. Trading him would really hurt the room, especially after having gone through losing Markstrom, Tanev and Stecher a few years ago. They need someone (veteran leader) who can lead the young talent into the playoffs. I don't think that's Horvat.
  3. The Bible, neat book. People have feared death since time began, and religion gives them comfort. That's all. Aliens....the truth is out there
  4. How handcuffed are the Canucks with Boeser? Not sure if this is close to accurate, but are the options: - they can either re-sign him cheaper before the end of the season (?), or - they have to pay him his QO of $7.5 next season ??? And if they pay him $7.5, he could be tough to trade if he continues to underperform. If he can score 25-30 goals a season consistently, then it would seem a fair salary? Mind you, it's been 3 years since Boeser scored 25+ goals. He's also never played close to a full season. What to do with Brock
  5. Any chance they hire Maurice as head coach (3 years) and Gronborg as the A/Coach? This would give Gronborg some NHL coaching experience before he eventually takes over down the road.
  6. Boudreau has been a breath of fresh air, got the team believing in themselves, but management might want them to take another step next season under a coach with higher expectations for them. Boudreau just wants them to be loose and have fun and enjoy themselves. Maybe Maurice gets them serious next season.
  7. Even though Miller is aged, and Schenn is similar, they provide that competitive, gritty leadership that the youth can learn from. I think Lockwood is going to be a very impactful player in a few years. Burrowsesque.
  8. It's a very difficult decision. Kind of a confusing time with this team. No idea what they could look like next season. Allvin and JR said they want to build a young core and have them playing together, they want to have prospects pushing for spots, and that they need to clear cap space. Re-signing Miller to a big contract goes against all of that. Have they changed their minds and after seeing the team compete over the last couple of months, now think they're close? I would love to get a haul in a Miller trade, it would be huge, but the Canucks would probably struggle without him and yep, no playoffs again. Could this be the Plan? Veteran Leaders - Miller, Schenn, Chiasson, OEL, Hunt Young core - Pettersson, Podkolzin, Hoglander, Lockwood, Hughes, Dermott Use Horvat, Boeser, Pearson and Myers to acquire more prospects/picks/young players
  9. Podkolzin - Miller - (RFA) Kapanen (UFA) Khaira - Pettersson - (RFA) Boeser I just think that Horvat and Garland (and more) could be on the outs, and Boeser will sign for less than his QO
  10. Love this attitude. It's all about the playoffs. Makes me think they are going to re-sign Miller, and build around him. Miller, Pettersson, Boeser, Podkolzin, Hughes and Demko. I imagine if they traded Miller, what a blow that would be to the room, where will the offense come from? The fanbase would be pi**ed. Just like they'll be if they let Bruce go and hire some Swedish guy who wants to get his feet wet coaching in the NHL.
  11. Terrible news, really saddened by this. He was my idol growing up. What a player and person, gone way too soon.
  12. Really too bad about Horvat. I'm hoping he returns sooner than expected, but I guess this will give more insight into how the team plays without him. If they continue on this winning streak, though, it begs the question: "Horvat, do we really need him?" Get well Bo. Boeser and Highmore returning should be good, if that happens. When Boeser returns I'd like to see more jump in his game. Quick on pucks, battling, and using that shot. Highmore and Lockwood should be fun to watch
  13. I flip-flop a lot regarding Miller. But c'mon, 5 more points in a game? It's not uncommon for him to have multiple point games. Sure, he looks lazy at times with back-checking etc., but he produces, a lot. Without him, they wouldn't be making any kind of push, or even in the conversation. I hate to say it, but Horvat might be the odd man out. He'll be too expensive for a 3rd line C. And with his 31 goals so far this year, he should get a very nice return. Miller Pettersson Boeser will also be getting a raise, and it might be difficult to move him, unless they also add Hoglander or Rathbone to the trade.
  14. Can JT get to 100? He only needs 9 points Podkolzin is becoming a star This team is going to do some damage next season
  15. Is Miller going to get #30 tonight? I think so! Canucks have to be careful that they don't underestimate ARI. They need to play a full 60.
  16. Coach Sutter before the game: "Okay boys, take it easy tonight. We're already in. No one get injured. Let's not give Vancouver a chance." VGK - 5 CGY - 3
  17. It's obvious to me (now), all this time trying to think of ways to re-sign Miller and Horvat and have all 3, but they only need 2 Top 6 Cs. E. Kane - Horvat - Podkolzin Khaira - Pettersson - Garland Pearson - Richardson - Hoglander Hmm, now who could fill those LW spots, cheap? Canucks want to add speed, size and grit? UFAs
  18. I think that might be what people expect he'll get, comparable to other players. I think it might be $7.5 x 5. Top Salaries Hughes - $7,850 Miller - $7,500 Pettersson - $7,350 Horvat is also due a big raise, only 30+ goal scorer on the team (as of today). He's entering his prime and if he's capable of 25-30+ goals a season, and how good he is on faceoffs, they should re-sign him as well. $7 x 6 sounds good to me. Trade Boeser and Myers = $13.5M (potentially) in salary
  19. Players (minimum) who will not be on the Canucks SC winning team...when it happens - Boeser - Garland - Richardson - Chiasson - Highmore - Dickinson - Myers - Poolman Thinking: What if this team is so glued, tight-knit, that Miller and Horvat re-sign for less than what they could actually get somewhere else. It matters a lot to players where they play, especially if they have families. Miller likes it here and if the team is up and coming, he might want to be a part of it. From what I understand, management has a number and if Miller isn't willing to accept, they may move on. But, what if he accepts?
  20. Hughes - $7,850,000 Miller - $7,500,000* Pettersson - $7,350,000 Ekman-Larsson - $7,260,000 Horvat - $7,000,000* Boeser - $6,750,000* Myers - $6,000,000 * estimated future salary something's gotta give, who's going?
  21. I agree, Dickinson has looked okay the last couple of games, seems to be battling along the boards a bit more I like the depth/bottom 6 guys: Lammikko, Highmore, Chiasson, Richardson, Lockwood. Would like to see Lockwood score.
  22. I will be on the "Re-sign Miller for whatever he wants" train ...but if they don't make it, then I hope they trade him
