  1. Canucks need to clear cap space right away. Miller's contract doesn't end until after next season, so I'm not sure he gets traded this season. They have time with him. Maybe in the off season? Maybe at next year's TDL? He doesn't make a boatload yet and has a reasonable salary for what he brings. He's also the team's best forward player. Boeser is going to be making Pettersson / OEL kind of money next year. Is he worth it? Possibly, but I find him slow and a little behind the play at times. As a goal scoer, he should be scoring more goals. Horvat's contract ends at the same time as Miller's, and he'll also be getting a nice raise, possibly as much as Boeser. Horvat has one more goal than Boeser so far this year. I'd be happy to keep Horvat, and trade Miller and Boeser for a mixed bag of Grade A prospects, high picks and D to help the team now. Garland can stick around, he makes great money and provides a lot of offence. He also draws a few penalties. Something Petey used to be able to do.
  2. What about this idea? JT Miller to Boston for: (RW) Fabian Lysell - prospect (RD) Jack Studnicka - prospect (LW) Jake Debrusk - (cap / immediate help in bottom 6) Debrusk is an RFA at the end of the season, but he probably won't be too expensive to re-sign. Maybe the change of scenery with this young core would be good for him? Gotta be better than hanging around Marchand all day, every day.
  3. I just saw a ridiculous draft idea from someone while I was searching for Canucks news: Miller for Laine straight up This trade would possibly destroy the room?
  4. Hoping Jett Woo turns into an NHL player one day, and Juulsen continues to develop. I've liked his game so far. Of course, these guys won't be helping the Canucks a whole lot next season. Allvin needs to upgrade that D, and maybe trading OEL or Myers (to free up cap) might be part of it? So curious to see what Allvin's first trade/move will be
  5. Schenn for Liljegren? Timmy is only 22 (but he grew or something - 6'1" around 200) and he's a right shot D. He could develop nicely with the young core. TOR is looking for playoff help now.
  6. I know this is unlikely, but is there any chance JR is in on trying to acquire Jakob Chychrun? What would that trade cost the Canucks?
  7. oh yeah, core is great, playoffs twice since Benning started and here we are 8 years later out of a playoff spot with little hope of getting one Also, Petey is too soft and slow. He's supposed to be their best player. He is not even in the Top 5 on this team IMO. Maybe next year
  8. just an e.g. Roster Player (for cap reasons) - Debrusk Prospect - Lysell 1st (late) Edit - to note: I'm not sure Miller gets the haul we're all hoping for (Schneider, Lafreniere, even Carlo etc)
  9. It's almost like an advertisement to other GMs ; "Step right up! We've gotta young scoring machine here! Let's start the bidding at a 1st Round pick and a prospect!"
  10. That's true, Miller, Horvat and Schenn still have a year left after this one. Garland still has 4 more years left. No rush to trade any of these guys. Assuming Pettersson, Hughes and Demko are off the table. I think it could be: Pearson, Dickinson, Motte, Poolman and possibly Boeser, because he's going to be a bit expensive after this season, and JR wants to get faster.
  11. Starting to think that if they traded Miller, Boeser and/or Garland, they could sure get a real good Dman. I hope they transform that D.
  12. That's unfortunate, but I'm not surprised. Could this maybe be a reason why he could be traded to BOS for Carlo+ instead?
  13. 2022/23 X - Pettersson - Podkolzin Hoglander - Horvat - X X - X - X Highmore - Lammikko - Lockwood Bailey/Klimovich Hughes - X Ekman-Larsson - Myers X - Schenn Rathbone - Burroughs Juulsen Demko Martin If they trade Miller, Boeser, Garland, Pearson, Motte, Dickinson, Chiasson, Poolman, and Halak I think they re-sign Schenn Lots of work to do if JR wants to be a contender in 2-3 years. I imagine the TDL could be very hectic for the Canucks and they might look like a different team next season.
  14. JR wants to clear cap, get high draft picks and prospects to create depth for years to come. Miller is not part of the long term core. They might not trade him this year, but I don't believe he'll be re-signing in VAN. The return would be too good to pass up and they can't really tie up that much money in a 30+ year old. I really like how JR is doing this, by taking offers early on players so he'll have time to make decisions at the TDL. I'd love to know what those offers are. I'm a bit impatient, I want the to start doing things now. I still feel like nothing has changed, except for Boudreau. Same Benning roster.
  15. Starting to think that's my first choice, if they trade Miller. To NYR for Schneider, Chytil and 1st The 1st would basically be like a high 2nd, but Schneider and Chytil could help the team right away and for years to come. They would fit into that age group with Pettersson and Hughes.
  16. Canucks won't be making the playoffs, so they still have a chance to get that #1 in the lottery. IMO though, Bettman rewards MTL with that 1st. I also think JR has some pull and gets the Canucks a Top 3. If they don't get into the Top 3, I'm hoping for (RD) David Jiricek. Canucks need D. EDIT - I was referring to this year's draft, I realize Bedard is next year.
  17. Too early to give up on Petey. By the time he's around 27, he'll be tearing it up. Who knows where Slafkovsky will be.
  18. JR said it would take 2 years (at least IMO) to become a contender again. The first step is to shed some salary and acquire draft picks. The thought came to me this morning: What if they don't shed that salary by trading Miller or Horvat or Garland ?? What if JR traded Boeser, Pearson, Myers, Poolman, Dickinson and Halak? That's quite a bit of salary right there, and will losing these guys make the Canucks that much worse? The returns could be very good, with extra high picks and prospects coming back. Miller is the team's best player and point leader by far. Trading him could be a big mistake. Where are the goals going to come from? Petey? Doubtful. Myers doesn't even have a goal yet this year and he's making $6. He's also supposed to be an offensive Dman, but is he really? He's actually somewhat of a liability at times, with how easily he takes penalties (due to his size and the way he plays) He's been pretty decent this year, but there are cheaper options for decent D. Possible that seeing Juulsen play well, gives them another option for next season.
  19. Looks good to me, even if it's within the division. For some reason I think playing against Boeser wouldn't be that hard. On another note: It could be either Miller or Horvat leaving. I didn't think they would even consider trading Bo, seeing as he's the captain and a C great at faceoffs, but Miller is also very good in that regard, and a more potent scorer and playmaker. One could even argue, a better leader. Horvat will be due a raise after next season. What will he make? Maybe a million less than Miller? They're only two years apart in age. The question is: Who would you want leading the team into the playoffs every year? Bo or JT?
  20. I don't think the Canucks will be buyers at this TDL, as they're not a playoff team. I believe their plan is to build the young core and get them all playing together, and in 2 years they'll be ready to compete and make a run. Horvat Pettersson Hoglander Podkolzin Hughes Demko 2022 1sts (plural) 2023 1sts (again) incoming Prospects What I like is that Allvin seems to have a real grasp of the European talent and close contacts there, and the Canucks could find some gems there, and in the college ranks too. My guess is they'll want to clear cap and get younger, which means these guys could be off the team to start the 2022/23 season: Miller Boeser Pearson Dickinson Motte Sutter Poolman Hunt Halak I think they keep Garland, and I think they re-sign Chiasson, Lammikko, Highmore and Hunt. Cheap depth guys who know the systems.
  21. He's the captain and a big part of the core. He's been here his whole career, has developed close friendships and I think he wants to win here. He probably takes a lot of pride in being a leader on this team and wearing the C. Maybe he's not as outspoken as his American friend who wears #9, but he cares and he wants to win. Bo is great at faceoffs, not just good. Making under $6, the Canucks would also be nuts to trade him. I'd guess he would take a pay cut to play here, more so than Miller.
  22. Why would Bo want to go? He loves it in VAN, he's the captain of an NHL team. He'd be crazy to want out He's not going anywhere, but some guys are
  23. Benning did well, until the end when he got desperate and traded the Canucks future for help to try and get back to the playoffs
  24. Okay, so McSucky wins the Fastest Skater 3 years in a row, until Matt Barzal dethrones him. So, they don't invite Barzal back? lol
