  1. I wonder though, with Vegas in cap hell, they won't want to bring in any salary and will want draft picks in return. Not part of Rutherford's plan by the sounds of it - trading picks for bottom 6 players. Maybe there's a hockey trade to be made? Like, for example, trading Tyler Motte and a mid to late pick for Nolan Patrick - who's in bust territory. VGK wouldn't be taking on more money and would have a real good pesky player who's good on the PK. Canucks would start to rebuild their young core: Horvat (the old guy) Garland Boeser Pettersson Hoglander Podkolzin Patrick Hughes Demko
  2. Yeah, this would make sense, but a team can't have just young guys. I'm not sure they can be a playoff team and really young. Trading Miller would mean no playoffs.
  3. "We need to get better in certain places to be a consistent playoff team and contender." What do you think Rutherford means by that? What are the obvious places? Grit and Speed? Size and toughness? All of the above? I wonder who could possibly be moved, not part of the team's future playoff success. My guess: Pettersson Hoglander Chiasson Lammikko Highmore Poolman Hunt Burroughs
  4. Petey 2017 - Drafted at #5, tore it up in Sweden. The Golden Boy over there 2018/19 - First year in NHL. Won the Calder trophy, nicknamed the Alien because he was otherworldly with his skill. Remember that? Invited to the All Star Game 2019/20 - In his second season, Petey did even better than the previous year. Invited to the All Star Game, again! COVID shuts down the season. VAN did well in the bubble, whereas other teams didn't. 2020/21 - COVID shortened season, Canadian North Division. Underwhelming stats for Petey, who changed his skate blades and stick. Other teams figured out how to play him effectively. Wrist injury. 2021/22 - Petey holds out for a big contract and misses training camp. VAN gives him over $7, and so far he has 6 goals in 33 games. With his lack of strength and speed, he has become somewhat easy to knock off the puck and falls down more than Mason Raymond. That shootout attempt against the Kings last night was pathetic. I could've done better, and I'm in my 50s and haven't skated in 15 years. lol Maybe once Petey puts on more muscle and builds strength, his confidence will also build. Maybe he becomes a dominant top 6 player in the future, but I guess we'll see. How hard does he actually work in the off season? See him shooting puck in his basement. No big deal, easy peasy fun workout man. How about hitting the weights? Hoping he does what he needs to do to help the Canucks win. They need him to be awesome to have a chance to win the Cup. He has been far from that for 2 years now.
  5. I wonder why the entire Kings line attacked Podkolzin at the break. The rookie was left on his own to fend off 5 players, until Myers decided to join in and help him out. So, I think the Canucks should trade Petey. I know there's not really a connection with the Podkolzin incident, but Petey really isn't that good (very overrated) and the Canucks might get some other team to give us a top Dman in return.
  6. What a move by Bo in the shootout Pettersson is pretty bad, my goodness At least they got the point
  7. He no longer looks like a superstar. Pretty average player IMO. Is this the real Pettersson? There are many young players who've come into the league and they're fast and skilled, with quick snipes, etc. They're noticeably good. Look at the younger Zegras. I don't think Petey is that young anymore anyway. This is his 4th season. He's hoarded as soon as he gets the puck and isn't fast enough or good enough on his skates to get out of trouble. He relies on his stick-handling, but lately that's been poor and he ends up losing the puck. Superstar? I don't think so, not yet anyway.
  8. Well, Horvat could've had 5 goals, same with Garland. Chiasson and Dickinson weren't very good. Pettersson was getting beat in puck battles again and his speed is an issue. He's got zero acceleration. They got a lot more shots than ANA, but the whiffing on shots or double-clutching the stick before shooting. They didn't look great. Glad they got the win. Gibson saved ANA, like Demko saved VAN. Gibson's mistake was not coming out to play that puck. Close one, the Ducks still got a point. Canucks can do better, and they will.
  9. Canucks looked rusty last game, and the Ducks had many good scoring chances. Thank goodness for Demko. I wasn't too confident they'd pull off the win, but sure is great they did. The streak continues. Canucks are going to have to be much better tonight with Halak in net. GCG!
  10. Bad news, but is Schenn, Lammikko, Poolman and Myers good to go?
  11. ...but his video games will live on (sorry, super cheesy) RIP John
  12. Mike Bossy 9 straight 50+ Goal seasons (5 of them were 60+), and he only played 10 seasons due to injury. What could've been for him. Definitely generational IMO EDIT - Not to mention the 4 straight Cups, and other awards
  13. I see them trading Boeser or Pettersson before Miller. If the goal is to turn this team into an aggressive, physical, hard to play against playoff team, they'll need Miller. I'd be okay trading Boeser for a good Top 4 Dman. As for his value, it's still pretty high IMO. Other teams know how deadly he can be with his shot.
  14. A lot of Miller trade proposals, but I'm wondering if they trade Miller at all. He's too valuable, the engine that drives this team. I wouldn't be too surprised to see Pettersson, Horvat or Boeser traded at some point, though.
  15. Waiting for Rutherford to pull off his first trade. Hoping it's for a Top 4 Dman.
  16. Underwhelming numbers and an entitled sounding attitude, which is why he's probably not with BOS. No thanks.
  17. Miller for Pesce but I don't think they'd do it OEL - Pesce Hughes - Hamonic Burroughs - Myers Poolman Schenn
  18. I actually found the poll question to be difficult. Wanted to answer both. I saw a Boudreau presser after a practice (yesterday?) where he said the players are all still wanting to learn as much as they can. It sounds like they're also really giving their all in practice. Yes, they won 6 in a row, but they were probably running on inspiration and adrenaline with the fresh start. This break is good for them. I think the Canucks come back a better structured team, tougher to play against, more defensively sound, and fast and aggressive - and all on the same page. I hope other teams' players are playing video games during this break. Canucks are gonna hand them a rude awakening when it gets going again. GCG!
  19. Boeser and Rathbone for Parayko c'mon, do it
  20. Loui's return would've been interesting, would it be a warm welcome? I think so. I wonder if Rutherford is going to do anything during this time off, or if he'll stand pat and let the D he has heal up a bit. Maybe see some moves at the TDL?
  21. The trifecta. Some say it can't be done, but we're all anxiously waiting.
  22. I'd be down with this deal, although, Schneider has yet to play an NHL game. I do hope Rutherford makes a move to bring in a D soon
