  1. So, looking into the future, what players are still on this team in 2 years? (to start the 2023/24 season) Horvat Pettersson Garland Motte Podkolzin OEL Myers Hughes Demko my guess By then possibly also add Klimovich, Lockwood, Rathbone and Woo
  2. If Rutherford wants the team to be faster, I guess Pearson's days are numbered. Maybe Schenn too, although I hope they keep him, even in Abby as a callup.
  3. Just listening to SN650, I think they're talking to David Amber? He was going on about how the Canucks need to forget about playoffs and just focus on being relevant again. I mean there's still 50+ games left. Some teams have games at hand, but there's a lot of hockey left. Don't count out these Canucks. I can see EDM choking in the new year down the stretch and the Canucks beating them for that last spot.
  4. When Rutherford speaks, people listen, and he tells it like it is, he's honest. It's not doom and gloom, which is how it felt with Benning a lot of the time. Rutherford gives me hope. He's here on a mission, and wants to win in VAN. It will be a lot of work for him, but it starts at the top - changing the culture and bringing in fresh people. I have a feeling Smyl might be gone next. So, he needs until the end of January to make an assessment on the Canucks, then he can decide what they need. I'm fine waiting a couple of years for them to right the ship and build a contender.
  5. The Canucks appear to be a lot better defensively, the same with their special teams. This is without OEL and Hamonic. It's pretty impressive. Demko has been outstanding. Really glad Petey went back to his shorter stick, he looks a lot better, has more control of the puck.
  6. VAN - Won 4 in a row! Won 6 of their last 7! EDM - Lost 5 in a row There is a chance if other Pacific teams pull an Oilers
  7. Another big eye test for Boudreau and Rutherford. Anxiously awaiting Rutherford's first trade or GM hiring, whatever comes first. With Petey going back to his old stick length, will he finally show what he can do? If they can beat CAR tonight, holy smokes, could make believers out of a lot of people.
  8. Not sure what to expect. CAR could be tired, they could underestimate the Canucks. As long as I see full effort from all of the players, win or lose. Any points here would be big. They have been the underdogs before and come out on top. GCG!
  9. Rutherford swings for the fences to VAN: Crosby to PIT: Horvat, Pearson, 3rd (2022) and 2nd (2023) Crosby finishes his career as captain of the Canucks. His home building where he scored the Golden Goal. Rutherford, Boudreau and Sid deliver the Cup. I understand Crosby is 34 and has had an injury history, but he's still a point a game player. Podkolzin - Crosby - Garland Miller - Pettersson - Boeser
  10. How about Boudreau challenging the goals in back-to-back games, and winning both challenges?
  11. Rutherford has no emotional investment with this roster, and he will move someone he doesn't feel is going to help them win a championship. I really think the only untouchables right now are: Demko, Hughes and Podkolzin. I can see a hockey trade, possibly a Pettersson for a Dman. Petey still has a lot of value.
  12. Pettersson, he still doesn't look right, or maybe he just isn't that good? I don't know, seeing him fumbling the puck, trying to be too cute, and getting hammered along the boards. He'd fetch a pretty good Dman IMO.
  13. You mean a Pettersson for Barzal trade? That would be wild. I get this feeling that other GMs respect and work better with Rutherford, than they did with Benning.
  14. It makes sense that Rutherford wants his own people as the GM and A/GM. Rutherford has no emotional investment with the current roster and prospects. His focus is on winning. I'm wondering, with his aggressive changes, if he'll make a trade right away.
  15. I don't believe he'd be the GM, so he wouldn't be making any trades.
  16. I'm excited with what this rebuilding president and management group are going to accomplish. The Aqualinis are all in, and hands off. Whoever the next GM is will be the right person for the job. Might be someone no one has considered yet. But, this new group will mold and make the necessary adjustments, and build a tough to play against playoff team. Coach Boudreau, Walker and Shaw will teach them the right way to play. New systems that I'm guessing will actually work. They're building a winner in Vancouver.
  17. Sam Ventura is currently with the BUF front office, working his way up I guess. Supposed to be a very smart forward-thinking analytics guy who Rutherford apparently really admires. I wonder if he would try to poach him from BUF. This is Rutherford's team now and he's going to hire people he believes will get him another Cup.
  18. Juulsen has some size and he's not a kid anymore. Former 1st rounder, with a right shot. Why not?
  19. Maybe Smyl went power hungry around the office, telling everyone how he wants his team to be, and the Aquas decided to get someone else in there asap.
  20. Dear Jim, Welcome to Vancouver. Please DON'T hire Jason Botteril or Marc Bergevan as the next GM. Thanks
  21. Listening to Smyl speak though, he's not right for interviews, and I imagine his lack of experience as a president just won't cut it. They hired the right person IMO. Next, get a GM and then they're set. I love this. Benning and Green out - Rutherford and Boudreau in. Looks like a big improvement to me.
  22. Don't be afraid. It's going to be okay. Building a winner. Enjoy the ride.
