  1. The NHL has had it's share of interesting characters, some real villains. Has there ever been a more hated player than Brad Marchand? Sean Avery maybe? or is Marchand worse? Who else from way back would be more hated than Marchand?
  2. Good point, he's still evaluating what he has here, and so far so good. The injuries do hurt, but they'll likely call up Hunt, who will play his best for Boudreau. And after that maybe Rathbone, then Bowey, etc. Next man up. Maybe they make a trade later in the season (TDL), but no rush yet.
  3. Canucks have won 4 of their last 5 games! Some tough ones coming up, though, and losing OEL and Hamonic hurts their average D as it is. Smyl needs to make a trade. Hoglander and Pearson for ...................?
  4. So happy for him to get his 1st goal as a Canuck. Felt like a long time coming. Maybe this will give him more confidence as well.
  5. Canucks have/had the Lotto Line with Miller - Pettersson - Boeser, and they had some success. Will Boudreau put them together, or use Miller as a C? I'm curious how he'll set the lines, who will get opportunity on D Who knows, maybe after a week or two he could have: Podkolzin - Pettersson - Boeser Garland - Miller - Chiasson Pearson - Horvat - Hoglander Motte - Lammikko - Dickinson OEL - Hamonic Hughes - Schenn Hunt - Myers Burroughs
  6. I felt the same about Dickinson, he was better. I think the whole team may have been better, except for Hoglander. He had a rough one, but hard to complain after a 4-0 win. Agree about Sutter, and I think they'll make a trade for another C.
  7. The stars are aligning. Boudreau Walker the Sedins Steamer getting emotional, showing his love for the team Happy players This is a group that could potentially win it all. Sure, they could upgrade on a #3C and a Dman, and maybe they will. This is a new era, a re-start of sorts. I feel like they're going to go on a run.
  8. That loss in BOS is still fresh in their memory, they'll want payback in their building. Boudreau knows BOS well from coaching in WSH for 4 years. Canucks will be fast and aggressive and will keep that momentum going from last game.
  9. Looking at Gillis' drafts in VAN, he only had a Top 10 pick twice. Cody Hodgson and Bo Horvat The rest of his 1st rounders were #22, #29 and #26. Not really going to get an amazing player there. Sure, Benning got a good one in Boeser. Gillis never had the high picks Benning had, though.
  10. I noticed it in the players, their demeanor. They seem to have this refreshed energy. Seeing Miller before in the pressers, doom and gloom, but now he's alert and talkative, eyes wide open. I think Boudreau and Walker will have a huge impact. I'd still like them to trade for a LDman, but I believe they'll win more games than they lose.
  11. I have no problem with this, the Canucks need a President, and those two are smart guys. I just hope Gillis doesn't make any Draft selections.
  12. I know it's only been one game with Boudreau as coach, but he also brought Walker with him, so I'm sensing the PK will also start to improve a lot. Shaw should now have control of the D, with Bumgardener gone. Boudreau simplifies everything and I love that he wants to be aggressive, with the puck and forechecking. The Canucks have good players built for this - Miller, Horvat, Podkolzin, Garland, Motte, Hoglander. I wonder how Boudreau feels about the drop pass? I'm curious to see if he tweaks the lines, puts his stamp on things. Will Smyl do something to improve the D? This has ben a crazy season so far, and could be crazier when the Canucks get on a winning streak and start putting pressure on teams for that last playoff spot.
  13. Canucks still need a LD Ekman-Larsson - Myers Hughes - Schenn ?? - Hamonic Schenn is a good Dman. He provides a lot of protection for the young guys and can certainly hand out the physicality. Maybe he's not as fast as some, but he doesn't get himself into trouble too often. He's a smart player and a good D partner for Hughes. For a 32-year old (slow guy) he's doing pretty well. 5 points in 12 games and a +4.
  14. Question about the coaching staff. Who does what?: Bruce Boudreau - head coach Scott Walker - pk Jason King - pp Brad Shaw - d Kyle Gustafson - ?? Ian Clark - goalie Darryl Seward - video Is this correct? What role does Gustafson have?
  15. I believe!! Listening to Boudreau, he's been watching the Canucks for a little while. It was just his first game coaching this team, but look how the team responded to the change. They all bought in, they all gave effort. Wait until Boudreau really has a grasp of everything and has imparted his knowledge to the players. I do believe they will win a lot of games over the next 50+. If they end up in a playoff spot = amazing. Regardless, the next 50+ games should be very exciting.
  16. Great win, and it felt like they would win even before the game started. They looked faster, more aggressive. Just seeing Boudreau behind the bench gave the team a different look. I don't know, more confident? One guy, though, didn't have a very good game. Hoglander. He tried too many fancy things, risky plays and lost the puck often. He has skill and gritty tenacity, but made several mistakes. I wonder how Boudreau will handle Hogz after seeing him coaching his first game.
  17. I've been listening to Boudreau sound bites all day and he's perfect for the Canucks. This is his first day and he's already figuring out the improvements needed and wanting to put his stamp on it. I think he'll also get through to Petey and Boeser. Geez, is it 7:00 yet?
  18. Interesting, you think maybe Boudreau will expect more leadership from Bo? D depth (from best to least best): OEL Hughes Hamonic Myers Schenn Burroughs Rathbone Poolman should not be in the lineup.
  19. So glad they did this now and not wait another year or two. Podkolzin is a rookie who looks like he'll be very good (already is), and he would really benefit from some stability in the room and a good coach.
  20. I wonder if he's saying "Brock, you're a shooter, a sniper, an assassin in the slot!! Stop passing the puck when you have a shot!"
  21. I haven't been this excited for a Canucks game since Game 1 of this season, but maybe more so because I feel they finally have an experienced coach guiding them. No offence to Torts. Are we finally going to start to see the potential of Pettersson, Hughes and Boeser? Bruce sure won't be putting Dowling with Petey.
