[Waivers] Kevin Connauton, Riley Nash

I had such high hopes for Juolevi, sucks to see him getting the opportunity with another team -
[Report] Canucks fire Jim Benning, name Stan Smyl as interim GM
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Bergevan recently brought a whole lot of bad press to the Habs organization with drafting the sex offender. This is the last person they should be bringing into the fold. What's his first order of business going to be? Trade Pettersson to Carolina to try and get Kotkaniemi back on his team? eesh. -

Love is too strong a word. I was a fan of Jim for years, thought he did some real good stuff. But he messed up too. I'm excited for the coaching change. Still think they need a POHO and an experienced GM. Smyl is fine for now, guy has his jersey number hanging from the rafters, so... That should calm the fanbase for now. -

But will Smyl be able to pronounce VAN"s 1st overall pick next year? jk -
If the owners came out and said we're going to rebuild and asked the fanbase to be patient, I think a lot would be okay with that, because it would appear they have an actual plan. It would also show a lot of respect to the fanbase, the people that buy tickets and merchandise, the people that make the Aquas more wealthy. It looks like they're just going to continue on as usual, until they find a good replacement for Benning and Green - two more "yes men". Y'know, the ones that listen to Francesco. And round and round we go.
-
Is this why Linden was let go? Because the owners didn't believe in his proper rebuild by drafting and developing? Meanwhile Benning was telling them he could get them back to the playoffs within 2 years. Well, that was BS wasn't it? No way Linden comes back to this train wreck of an organization. He might've actually gotten them somewhere and the owners blew it.

Pettersson - ?? - Boeser Podkolzin - Miller - Garland Pearson - Horvat - Hoglander ?? - ?? - Lockwood Klimovich Ekman-Larsson - ?? Hughes - Hamonic Rathbone - Myers Woo Demko ?? I don't think Pettersson is an elite #1C. But they're getting there.

Who was a worse Oilers GM ? Mac-T or Chiarelli ?

Why? -
I wish the Canucks didn't have to trade the last two 1st rounders, because I think they still need an elite #1C. Pettersson and Horvat are good players, but they both lack something. Who's the #1? I think they're both #2s (no pun intended) Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle and go on some kind of inspirational miracle run to the playoffs. If they don't, though, then I hope they draft a C with that #1 in 2022. Wright Savoie Geekie and if not, take (RDs) Jiricek or Nemec

I tend to agree with Max, even though I've suggested trading Boeser myself. They have the players here they drafted, now they need a coach the players respect to teach them the finer points and put some good lines together.

oh yeah...I forgot about Miller going full McDavid with his unreal goal. That was a beauty. And some people wanted to trade him. Pffft (including me at the time) Kind of funny, right after he scored and I said "Wow!", my first thought was, "Well, his value just went up" -

With all of the negative distraction from the owners, GM, Coach, Petey, Miller, losing, etc.... How 'bout that Hughes kid? Tied for 3rd overall in the league in Points for Ds. What did he get, 4 assists last night? Last year was a -24, this year he's a +4. the quiet Superstar -

The problem is: the owners are running the team behind the scenes and they don't know the hockey business and what makes a team great. As soon as they hire a President to oversee everything, then they'll start to become a good team from the top down. -

Would a win at home on Saturday against Pittsburgh calm the masses? That would be a 3-game winning streak, their first of the season. Of course, if they lose that game, then they're right back where they started. Must win. -
