  1. Step 1 - Fire Baumgartner Step 2 - Trade Jake for some defensive help
  2. oh yes, VAN can certainly beat OTT like a dusty rug, but the sad part is, that will probably cost VAN the 1st at the Draft, which will go to OTT
  3. Yes, time for a new GM, and maybe even coach. I'm sure Green is a great development coach, but he looks like he's in the weeds at times. The team taking a Too Many Men when they're already on the PK, unacceptable.
  4. Every time Toffoli scores on us, it magnifies how badly Benning has managed things in the off season.
  5. This may be the problem. They should be excited? Like he doesn't know. Shouldn't he be saying "They are excited for tonight"
  6. haha, no, but maybe? I don't know. Tossing those OTT wins aside, the Canucks aren't as good this year. Without those OTT gimmes, they would be 3-6, with one of those wins coming by way of a shootout. Could easily have been 2-7.
  7. VAN's wins against OTT: 7-1 5-1 4-1 MTL's wins against VAN: 7-3 5-2 6-2 Wow, OTT is bad
  8. If the lineup change doesn't include adding McDavid, or Pettersson from 5 years from now,, then VAN will probably lose. I love the Canucks, I have an entire room dedicated to them, wall to wall fandom stuff. I watch every game. Some days they look unstoppable, but against MTL, they just can't seem to win. Sure, they won 6-5 in a shootout earlier in the season, but that really could've gone either way. Toffoli still got a hattrick and MTL got the point. I thought that win in WPG was proof that they've finally turned the corner, but after watching last night's game, it looks like they took a wrong turn, they looked lost. VAN really did look like OTT against MTL. Will they do better tonight? I hope so, but I'm not going to make excuses like "they're tired", or "they've been on the road for days", or "Miller must be hurt", or whatever. Do Lightning fans complain about this stuff? Missing Stamkos all year? lol If they lose, it's because they're not good enough, and that's on Benning. Go Canucks Go
  9. Someone mentioned Miller and his lack of effort at times this season. I was watching him last night and I agree. He just doesn't look like his usual competitive self. Sure, he's still producing around a point a game, but most are probably assists on Boeser's goals. His passing has been awful at times, lots of giveaways, like he doesn't even care. I hope he's not the type of player who is so competitive he'll want out because he doesn't; like the direction of the team, Must be frustrating for him to be on a real good team, having his best year (last season), and then the GM trades away the #1 goalie and room favourite, veteran Dman. Petey looks lost at times, Hughes makes tons of defensive mistakes, They're having to play Gaudette, Virtanen who are young and struggling. If you want to win the Cup, this team doesn't look near ready yet, and too young, and Miller wants to win now.
  10. Well, back to looking at the 2021 Top 10 Draft prospects again. MTL makes VAN look like OTT. Not all Holtby's fault, the D was terrible. Everyone on D.
  11. True, he's not expensive like some players, and young enough that he might still one day do something. Who knows, could be during the payoffs one of these years when Jake suddenly wakes up and goes on a tear to help us win. That would be sweet and make it all worth while .
  12. I kind of hope so, but only if he goes to another division, But I wonder if this is just Green trying to teach Jake a lesson (again for the 100th time) by giving him a time-out.
  13. Ex-Canuck Toffoli gets a hattrick against us in our building....okay ex-Hab Benn, 3 goals tonight
  14. Hope I'm wrong, but I would think Sutter would love to play in "hometown" CGY. Bennett is a C/LW, whereas Sutter is C/RW. It would be a bad mistake though IMO to trade Sutter. Is Benning that in-love with Jake that he'd move a veteran bottom 6 winger out to make room for him? Hope not, but Jake was his 1st ever Canucks draft pick, so maybe there is some sentimental value for Jim.
  15. It was a just for fun idea, and I know the Canucks struggled in the playoffs to get anything going from their bottom 6. Virtanen - (2G 1A) 3 pts in 16 games Lucic - (1G 5A) 6 pts in 10 games Bennett - (5G 3A) 8 pts in 10 games
  16. I highly doubt PHI would want Virtanen for Konecny straight up. I think PHI would want someone along the lines of Boeser or Hoglander in exchange.
  17. I don't like the idea of trading Virtanen to CGY, especially for underperformer Sam Bennett. Why take the chance that Jake will suddenly get it (be engaged physically), learning from Lucic and Tkachuk? Trade Jake to the east. but maybe I don't know anything either, just for fun... to CGY: Virtanen and Eriksson to VAN: Bennett and Lucic VAN bottom 6 Lucic - Bennett - MacEwen Motte - Beagle - Sutter Roussel Gaudette
  18. Hoglander is a gem, and I wonder if him being so impressive really exposed Jake for the player he is and will be. Hoglander, Motte, Gaudette and MacEwen (up front) are making the most of their opportunities. How many more chances does Jake get to do what is expected? Maybe it's not even that Jake doesn't want to do the work or get better - maybe he can't. Maybe he's just not wired to react quickly with the best options, while anticipating play at high speed. It takes a special athlete to do this, and maybe Jake struggles with this. Processing the game at high speed with little time and space. Canucks are getting better by the game, and now have more confidence after breaking the WPG streak. Watch out MTL, here come the Canucks. The D game was exceptional last night, Boeser is great this year, Hoglander is phenomenal with his hustle and skill. And the goaltending...4 straight games at only 1 goal against. This team is just heating up, wait until Miller actually gets going.
