I've been negative lately, the losses and poor play are tough to take. Not just the games, but the loss of important players. But here's what I think will happen tonight. The Canucks will come out flying and get a 4-0 lead in the 1st. They'll play better D, and end up winning 7-1. I'm sure the Canucks are frustrated and tired of the losses too. Heck, even if they win 6-5 again, I'd be happy.

Capitals unveil third jersey

Better than a big L on the front, I guess Reminds me of the Islanders -
I think firing Green would be a terrible mistake. The Canucks may see a mass exodus of the young guys, because Green is a young players coach. Green relates well to the players and they really like him. The person responsible for putting them in this Cap mess, which in turn eventually caused the team to lose their MVP and a Top 6 scorer., should be held accountable. VAN is stuck with several contracts to aging bottom 6 vets they can't trade. And the bottom 6 sucks. The team is losing and playing poorly, the star players appear unhappy, the new guys must be thinking, "What the heck is going on here? I thought VAN was a good team?" Well, they were a few short months ago. Looking at the shots Markstrom faced every night for the past 2 years, 40+ usually, he kept them in games and won them a bunch. It wasn't because Myers and Edler and Hughes were amazing at D. Rule #1 should be: Keep your best goalie. He rolled the dice on Demko, but he sure doesn't look very good. He's trying to cut further costs by inserting inexperienced Euros (Hoglander and Juolevi) into tough roles in their rookie season. Thankfully Hogz has risen to the occasion, and Juolevi has looked pretty decent..

Jim Benning, An Excellent Evaluator of Talent, BUT NO GM!
Nucker 67 replied to Seeker1's topic in Canucks Talk
It blows my mind to think that Chia and Jimbo built a Stanley Cup winning team together (BOS). How the heck did that happen? -
Maybe he meant he no longer has confidence in management. The room has changed. Petey's playing like he doesn't care much, maybe he (and Hughes) are emotionally gutted losing their mentors. I hope the team can rebound and start winning games, that should build some team confidence and then maybe they'll start having fun again.

Hypothetical scenario If Pettersson goes full Dubois, who do you think we would get for him? I certainly don't want to lose Pettersson, but star players nowadays, if they aren't happy, they'll want out.

Just hope Pettersson doesn't go full Dubois. He doesn't look happy

Brady vs Mahomes (yawn, so predicable)

Jim Benning, An Excellent Evaluator of Talent, BUT NO GM!

The statements (Shah) above kind of make sense of things. The players don't seem connected. Benning removed a big part of that room (Marky and Tanev), could possibly be a reason why Pettersson has struggled this season. Apparently he was close to Marky, and we know Hughes was close to Tanev. Kind of gutted the team. -
Brady is not from here. Doesn't age, never injured, wins every year.

Pettersson, Hughes, Podkolzin were easy high picks. Gifts, almost. Gaudette and Boeser were great picks, credit due. Demko and Hoglander were good picks. Benning was hired in May 2014, Canucks went to the playoffs after that season and got bounced by CGY (Ferland) Then the Canucks missed the playoffs for 4 straight seasons. They caught fire in the bubble in 2020 and made it to Round 2. This season, they'll probably miss the playoffs again. We can blame the coach, but he hired the coach. We can blame the players, but he brought in those players (and lost some players). Benning has had 6 years, with several Top 10 Draft picks, to build a playoff team. He was so close, until he let the team MVP walk. Last straw? -
MTL is good VAN is not good Let the season play out, I have an idea how it will probably end, like some. Maybe they surprised and completely turn things around. It could happen, STL did it a couple of years ago. But they got incredible goaltending from Binnington, so who knows. Does Demko have it in him to do the same? My guess: Benning will be fired at the end of the season, Green will get a pass, because the players actually really like him. The new GM will be given a Top 10 Draft pick on July 23.

I'm sure Benning and Green are looking forward to the boys playing OTT for a few games next week. Lesser competition one could say. Might even save their jobs if they win one or two. Then off to WPG but I won't get ahead of myself. These games against OTT are a chance to get back in the running if they win all 3. I feel they're slowly getting there, but being a shortened season, there is no time to wait for guys to get up to speed. I just hope Quinn plays to win, and not enjoy more play time with a Tkachuk.

Wallstedt at #10-15 would be an interesting pick for sure. He's got size, something that I think will hinder DiPietro's NHL career. Love DiPietro's heart and battle, but he just doesn't cover enough net IMO. Silovs has some size, but his stats are pretty mediocre his first year with Barrie. I'm sure it'll take time to develop, especially for a goalie. My choice would be: Picks 1-5 (Dmen) Picks 6-10 (Forwards) 11 - Wallstedt (goalie) I know it's typically BPA, but I believe the above might be the BPA.

Excellent evaluator of talent? Two words: Virtanen Juolevi -
Or we could in the other direction and go back to when they won the Cup....oh wait It's understandable why some Canucks fans are frustrated. Last year they gave us hope, again, and this year they look to have the worst D game in the league and the superstar hasn't been able to score. Bo and Boeser have been very good, but the rest of the team hasn't played well. I'm tired of the excuses. Power forwards take longer to develop, these are the ebbs and flows of he season, we never had any preseason games, blah blah. On paper they look like a pretty good team, so what is the problem? Well, I am expecting the Canucks to come out fast and get the early lead, and then add to that. Could happen.

(Trade) Laine to CBJ - Dubois to Jets
Nucker 67 replied to MikeBossy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The Finnish GM got his Fin after all. Big win for the Jets, Dubois is a beast, Laine and Torts will not get along.
