  1. Podz couldn't do it himself, but the effort was there. He made smart plays/passes, took a big hit and handled himself, he'll be a beast. Could be an amazing spring if Podz joins the Canucks (later in the season). Any chance Try joins him on the flight over?
  2. Does anyone doubt Canada will win? They're stacked. I just want Podkolzin to play well and even score.
  3. Looks like an awesome place for a skate Darth Is Hamonic at camp? If so, how does he look? I'm assuming the Canucks are waiting for Ferland to go on LTIR, then they'll sign him?
  4. I agree, the Flames signing Markstrom for 6 years (x $6) reminds me of a certain #21. Played great for a couple of years for one team, scoring 30 goals for them, then he got traded and... Flames have Marky for the long haul anyway. I like the championship pedigree Holtby brings, and his experience playing with Schmidt and Beagle. Demko will learn a lot from Holtby as well, and they both have Ian Clark.

This was terrible news to wake up to. COB was a great gateway band for a lot of people just getting into metal, and Alexi himself was a true icon of the genre. RIP Alexi \m/

  6. Juolevi, Rathbone and Hoglander getting ready to take the next step, Jake finally turning a corner, and then adding the captain of the Russian junior team next season. Nice.
  7. Yeesh, Jake in top shape and finally taking things seriously and Hoglander impressing? This would be exciting: Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Hoglander - Horvat - Virtanen I'd be okay trading Pearson for some added toughness/speed in the bottom 6, or draft pick
  8. I wonder how many "Bride needs a Helmet" jokes Gaud's team mates have slung at him? lol Anyway... I look at who they lost: Markstrom, Tanev, Stecher, Leivo and Toffoli. It looks like a lot, 5 NHL players. But I'd take quality over quantity any day. Holtby is a Cup winner, and I trust him more than Marky. I liked Markstrom when he was here, but he really benefitted from Ian Clark. Now Holtby will benefit. Tanev playing with Hughes was a revelation to his game. For once he played a full season (shortened season), and steered clear of injury. But can he stay healthy in CGY? HIs age and injury history makes me think he will decline there. Getting Schmidt makes our D better instantly, more speed, more offense. And if they can sign Hamonic, the Canucks could be a lot better (and tougher) defensively. Stecher is a good #7-8 Dman. Juolevi will be an upgrade IMO. We never really got to know Leivo and Toffoli. They were pretty good while they were here, but I'm more excited about a fit Jake Virtanen showing up at camp, and possibly Hoglander and/or Lind stealing a spot, or even Baerstchi possibly making a comeback. Canucks will be okay, can't wait.
  9. My first thought was "maybe it's a good time to change the orca logo if some are offended by it", but then I thought of the complaining that would follow if they chose another art form. They'll have to have an Indigenous artist re-design the logo, otherwise they'll be considered racist, somehow.
  10. Not sure they're even doing this now, are there protected greenhouses for honey bees? There should be, the bees are dying off and that would be devastating.
  11. Read 'em and weep" TOR EDM MTL CGY WPG VAN OTT Remember when it felt like the Canucks almost became a contender there for a few minutes? Now it feels like the Canucks have taken a big step back by losing key players and not fixing that bottom 6. The bottom pairing D could be scary as well.
  12. With Jake working out daily with Myers, and staying focused, I think we're finally going to see the player we were hoping to see all this time. Jake scored 18 goals last year in a shortened season, and when he put in a half-a**ed effort. I wonder how many he'll score next season playing on Bo's line? 25-30?
  13. Black Flying V The yellow version is a little hard on the eyes, but if they created a white (road) version instead? I think that would be cool, and very different than any other design in the NHL.
  14. OUT - Markstrom, Tanev, Stecher, Toffoli, Leivo, Fantenberg, Domingue IN - Holtby, Schmidt, Hawryluk They sure didn't get better. And it's not even that they lost good players, other teams gained better payers. They do have a few interesting prospects that might make it one day (Podkolzin, Hoglander, Rathbone), but that'll be a while.
  15. I'm looking forward to the 2021 Draft, wasn't into it this year as Benning traded the 1st and 2nd. But next year they should be in the thick of things Draft-wise, probably Top 10 pick. After losing their MVP goalie, and character players in Tanev and Stecher, and also losing players to free agency, the Canucks might not be great next season. Other teams in the new Canadian division (if that becomes a thing) have improved. I'll be paying more attention to the undrafted prospects this year.
  16. well, the high draft pick will be nice.
  17. Wouldn't that be something if immediately after Loui is sent to Utica, he retires and goes back to play in Sweden. And that's all it took.
  18. Too bad, he was one of the better D in the playoffs IMO. Hughes - Schmidt Edler - Myers Benn - Rafferty Juolevi hmmm, that 3rd pairing sure looks mediocre
