  1. I'm okay keeping Jake. He doesn't cost a lot. He's young. He's got all of the tools, except he struggles with some things. Late bloomer, he'll rip it up at 25.
  2. I wish he would've accepted $9 over 2 years, but alas, he wanted to cash in now instead of 2 years from now, after he won a Cup in VAN. SEA would've probably claimed him, he would've been close to "home". ah well
  3. What about: to NYI - Eriksson, Sutter (this name means something on Long Island), and Gaudette to VAN - Boychuk and Johnston Eriksson (LW/RW) - $2.5 x 2 years Sutter (C/RW)- $4.375 x 1 year Gaudette (C/RW) - $1 (roughly) Boychuk (RD) - $6 x 2 years Johnston (LW) - $1 x 2 years It would basically be a cash exchange/dump for both teams. Canucks could use a gnarly veteran RD. Johnston is big, but doesn't produce much.
  4. Not sure this is possible, but is there any chance that Armstrong is bluffing, and that a deal with VAN could still be worked out for OEL? I believe Demko was the sticking point, but if Armstrong came back with a more reasonable offer? or, any chance OEL was the one who nixed this trade? (with Markstrom not being re-signed here)
  5. Great that both signings so far are only 2 years. Benning is planning ahead well.
  6. Gonna have to change that Markstrom hockey card, from a Wall to a wall on fire, burning down, to the ground...
  7. He got Eriksson's contract Good luck Marky (without Ian Clark)
  8. Things have changed. They didn't get better in goal. They lost out on the OEL deal. They might lose Tanev and Stecher. I think Benning circles back and re-signs Tanev, because they'll need even better D without Markstrom. And maybe Benning signs another Dman. Can't see how they can afford Toffoli. They might have to do some patch work with the forwards, give the young guys more opportunity, maybe even bring Baertschi back and Lind gets a shot.
  9. Geez, watching all of these UFAs being signed, some good players out there. Sucks. Poor Benning standing outside the shop with no money, looking through the window at what could be.
  10. I hope Benning can do more, and still manage to trade some of those veteran players. They need to upgrade the D, and even more so if Tanev and Stecher leave. They can't expect Rafferty or Juolevi to replace these guys.
  11. Sounds like OEL might be staying in ARI
  12. Ho 'bout reuniting Miller with Johnson and Sergachev? lol aaahhhh dreams
  13. This is horrible if it happens, but I suppose the Canucks skaters have a really book on him and know his tendencies. Also, Marky won't have Ian Clark.
  14. Do we see Baertschi back in the lineup next year? Talk about taking a step back. Today is OEL's deadline, what is going to happen there? Possible that Benning loses all 3 UFAs and OEL.
  15. Doesn't a team usually lose their good UFAs after they win a Cup? sheesh, wakey wakey Jim!
  16. I wonder if the Canucks should be keeping Markstrom and trading Demko? I'm a big Demko fan, but Markstrom was the MVP last year and has a few years of great goaltending left in him. He's proven, and I believe they want to win now. It starts with stellar goaltending, Markstrom has given that. I also wonder if one of the reasons OEL wants to come to VAN is because of Markstrom, apparently they're friends? If Markstrom walks, will OEL still really want to be here? The Canucks could get a lot for Demko, I would think even rid themselves of the Eriksson and Sutter contracts.
  17. Great card for the collection. It'll be worth one billion dollars in 2100.
  18. With the excitement of playoffs and having such a promising finish to 2019/20, taking a step back is depressing, because it took them 5 years to get back there. But I have a feeling that they won't be able to sign the UFAs, maybe sign one of them (Tanev), and all this time and effort on OEL, I'm thinking he might go somewhere else. So then what? Re-sign Stecher as a UFA and go into next season with the same D and a cheap backup for Demko? Maybe they feel this is okay, no one is going out and paying for tickets to watch the games anyway. Guess we'll see what happens, with free agency tomorrow.
  19. More nervous about what Benning might be giving up - to get OEL. Sure, he might offload Eriksson's remaining contract, but that's not much ($2.5 x 2). It's the other possible pieces, like Juolevi, Gaudette, Rathbone or Demko. Will Benning cave and give too much? I hope not.
  20. Anyone else getting a little nervous about the lack of activity by the Canucks? tic toc Benning
