TOR must be choked, they weren't on his list. They could sure use him, but too bad.

Swedish LDs Ekman-Larsson Edler Fantenberg
-
Got me thinking. With the stars on the team (Pettersson, Boeser, Hughes and even Horvat) still young, I had just assumed that they would build towards possibly contending in 2-3 years, but after the success they had in the playoffs, I think they might be in Win Now mode. When Benning mentioned a little while back, that they may need to move some younger players and there would be difficult decisions - I thought of Virtanen and Gaudette, but it could also include Juolevi or Rathbone. Does Benning go out and make a splash, trading Eriksson and getting a Top pairing Dman? Miraculous.

PROPOSAL- UFA PAT MAROON

Can he go 3 for 3? Maroon - Gaduette - MacEwen Nice 3rd line -
Ah, good point regarding Edler. He's only got a year left. I'm guessing they'll re-sign him again at less $

I wonder if Benning starts his negotiations with, "So, Loui Eriksson is..." Maybe this is why no deals yet
-
First, can the Canucks afford his $8.25 salary for several years, with them having to pay Hughes and Pettersson huge money in a couple of years? What if Juolevi turns out to be a very good LD? OEL had a couple of 20+ goal seasons in his mid-20s, but he's inching towards 30 now, and I'm assuming there will be some decline over the next few years. The only way this work IMO, is if Benning can clear out the same amount or more cap, and OEL serves a purpose to the team moving forward. They need to upgrade the D, and this would be a really good start, but at what cost? That's an expensive Top 4 D Ekman-Larsson - $8.25 Edler - $6 Myers - $6 Hughes (in a couple of years) - $10

No offence Provost, but if I'm ARI that deal kind of depresses me. Maybe if Baertschi wasn't included.

[Buyout] Henrik Lundqvist

Demko Lundqvist Would've never imagined that goaltending duo. He's 38 though, and his stats are understandably getting worse as the years go by, but if he signed for 1 year ($1-2 million), to try and win a Cup with VAN? Are there other teams willing to take a chance on a 38 year old goaltender in decline? He's still better than Domingue. -
Yeah, they don't have much in the pipeline as far as RD. Burke made a comment a while ago, something to the effect: it's very difficult and expensive to trade for a RD, they have to be drafted and developed. This is what they've got cookin' Rafferty Chatfield Eliot Woo Not much, although, from what I understand, in addition to Hughes, Brisebois, Rathbone and Tryamkin can all play the right side.

The blueline does need to be better, Canucks gave up a ton of shots against the Blues and Knights. I have a feeling that Benning is going to want to re-sign Tanev. He's spent his entire career with VAN, and he's a good partner for Hughes. I don't believe it's all about the money with Tanev. He'd most likely prefer to stay in VAN, so I think he'll re-sign a reasonable contract. I was hoping for a top pairing Dman, like Pietrangelo, but I'm not sure Benning will be able to move out cap to fit in an expensive Dman like that. Maybe an upgrade to the bottom pairing? Edler - Myers Hughes - Tanev Juolevi - Carlo Benn Rafferty

I feel that trading for a Lightning player right now is buying high. Those guys just won a Cup, so cha-ching! They won't be cheap. Of course Cernak looks attractive now, but at the beginning of the 2019/20 season, I never even heard of him lol What did he get this past regular season - 12 points? 4 points in the playoffs? Wow. Yeah, he's big, so is Gudbranson.

[Rumour] Alex Pietrangelo to test free agency
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Hughes - Pietrangelo would be an incredible top D pairing, and if Benning can manage to move out some cap, he could be worth it. Would probably have to let Tanev walk, maybe they re-sign Stecher (cheap) to pair with Juolevi in the 3rd pairing? Stecher and Rafferty could alternate, depending on who's most effective. Hughes - Pietrangelo Edler - Myers Juolevi - Stecher Rafferty -
[McKenzie] Eichel may have requested trade out of BUF
Nucker 67 replied to EP40.'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Eichel wants to win, I don't blame him. I'm sure he'd prefer to play on a good team, and be in the playoffs every year. I wonder how long before McDavid shows the same frustration. -

[Proposal] Ehrhoff-ing the Bolts 2020

Let's not forget there are probably 25+ other teams who would love to have some of Tampa's players. They're about to win a Cup lol Next... -
So, will Jake be apartment hunting in Providence? or will these be his new linemates? Debrusk - Krejci - Virtanen Hoping, if he's traded, he goes to OTT
-
I'm not sure a step back is acceptable. The Canucks made it to the 2nd round, and they're going to want to go further next year. Perhaps the owners agree to buy out a player, maybe Benning makes a trade or two. I heard that the Canucks have been very active, so I'm thinking the 2020/21 team will look a bit different. Excited to see what Benning is going to do to make them better.

I agree. If Jake's being traded to the Bruins, a room filled with grit, with Bergeron, Marchand, Chara, etc. holding court, his mindset will change real fast. The Bruins have a physical, hard playing mentality and style. Jake will know exactly what they want from him, and he will either sink or swim. But if he swims...
