Canucks need more truculence on D. Tanev and Stecher don't provide this. Edler - Myers Hughes - Juolevi - Fantenberg
-
ah well, in those circumstances, then I can understand

I wonder if this has anything to do with him leaving his team high and dry in the playoffs? Poor character IMO

(Trade) (Signings) Proposal
Nucker 67 replied to Vanisleryan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I agree about Markstrom. I think when it comes down to it, Marky deserves to be rewarded after the season(s) he had, but I don't know if Benning can afford to pay him what he deserves, or give him term. Benning already basically mentioned that Demko is the goalie of the future, I think they get Demko a veteran backup. Not sure it'll be Lundqvist, that seems like kind of a luxury they can't afford. Maybe Crawford or Dubnyk? I think: - Toffoli, Tanev, Leivo and Fantenberg get re-signed - Virtanen and Stecher are re-signed and traded. (Eriksson, Sutter and Benn (and picks/prospects?) included in the 2 trades) Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Toffoli Leivo - Gaudette - MacEwen Roussel - Beagle - Motte Lind Edler - Myers Hughes - Tanev Juolevi - ?? Fantenberg Rafferty Chatfield Demko ?? -
Even though it is only Eklund who's rumouring, I find it interesting. I can see BOS being interested in Virtanen, the same way they were interested in Neely lol

Hmm, just realized, the problem with trading Demko and re-signing Markstrom, is that Demko helps them with their cap issues. Benning also said that Demko was the Canucks goalie of the future, so I'm not sure he will be traded after all. Ah well, interesting thought, these trade ideas with OTT. Could still be deals to be made with them though.
-
an ex-Canuck as well, he would be a decent backup for Demko I don't know, I hate to lose Demmer, but if I'm OTT with that wealth of picks, I'm pitching Benning a nice offer.
-
I believe Dorion said they weren't going to re-sign Andersson, and so I wonder who they have in mind to play goal. OTT has 3 1st round picks this year I think. Wow, so I imagine they might be interested. Maybe the deal will be Demko and Eriksson for one of their late 1sts? Yes, Loui makes a bit (although not $6 anymore), but Demko doesn't make much. That would be very enticing for a rebuilding team looking for a goalie of the future.

Things sound like they're heating up, the rumours have started. Only a few days ago, I was pretty sure Markstrom, Tanev and Toffoli would all be re-signed, but now I'm not so sure. Apparently there's a great deal of interest in Markstrom and Tanev. Will Toffoli be the only 1 of the 3 re-signed? If Markstrom goes, then Benning is going to have to dip into free agency or make a trade. Will Holtby and Demko be the new duo down the road? If Tanev leaves, and possibly Stecher, that creates a big hole on the right side. They have Rafferty and Benn, but this is a downgrade. Will Benning also try to get a right shot Dman?

I guess thank you NHL, Canucks might save a few bucks on Hughes' next contract ah who am I kidding, the kid can have as much money as he wants
-
It's okay Quinn, you're still the better player Having Canucks in 3 straight years of Calder nominations - when's the last time any team has done that?
-
I don't think it's so much about Markstrom wanting to get big money, but more so term and security, something Benning can't really offer him. At his age, his best bet may be to sign a nice long term deal with another team on the rise, who will need good goaltending.

[Rumour] Red Wings interested in Jacob Markstrom
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I can envision MARKSTROM in a Red Wings sweater, and he'd have Seider playing in front of him eventually, so there's that. -

I still think Benning offers him $5 and he takes it. -
I always thought the phrase was "standing pat"

I think Benning wants to sign the UFAs we have, improve the bottom 6 and D. I believe they're also going to give some of the younger guys a chance - Juolevi, Rafferty, MacEwen and possibly Lind. I think Stecher, Fantenberg and possibly Benn are gone. Virtanen and Gaudette could be used as trade bait, trying to offload either Eriksson, Sutter, Beagle and/or Roussel. My guess is 2 of the 4 are gone. Benning may try to get an imposing 3rd pairing Dman for Juolevi. I think they'll re-sign Markstrom, because a team needs two good goalies to win, and Toffoli because he fits into the Top 6 and they like him. They also like Tanev, so I think all 3 come back.

Which team's colors would you change and to what?
Nucker 67 replied to Rubik's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Maybe not the 80s, more 1994 -
This is good stuff, I never realized Lind also played C. This could be a real good option down the road, or even next season? Canucks are a bit thin at C, especially if they trade Sutter. It'll still be 2-3 years before Focht and/or Karlsson make the team (if they do).

Almost as good? Please. Hoping for DAL. Really like Bones, can't stand Coop.

(Proposal) Big moves to come!
Nucker 67 replied to captaincowbasher's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I think Benning eventually keeps Demko over Markstrom. The signs are there. Demko is the future. But saying that, as a team needs to two good goalies to win, I believe Markstrom will sign a very reasonable deal just to stay in VAN. Same thing with Tanev. Good guy, wants to play here, his deal will be very reasonable. Just a wild guess UFAs - Markstrom, Toffoli, Leivo and Tanev will be re-signed. RFAs - Virtanen, Motte, Gaudette, MacEwen and Chatfield will also be re-signed. Benning will magically be able to trade Sutter, Eriksson and Roussel. Perhaps Virtanen, Gaudette and Rafferty, etc. will be added pieces. Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Toffoli ?? - ?? - MacEwen Motte - Beagle - ?? Lind (VAN has to improve the bottom 6) Edler - ?? Hughes - Tanev Juolevi - Myers Chatfield (VAN needs a presence in the top pairing) Marksrom Demko -
My eyes were drawn to this. If he's indispensable, then they probably won't trade him.

Friedman is just trying to stir the pot, he knows Canucks fans pay attention to rumours about the team, and usually run wild with it. He's not dumb, he just looks it. I have no idea why Florida would do this. And even if they wanted to trade their star cornerstone Dman, I seriously can't see Ekblad being treaded to VAN. The Canucks don't have anything really to trade. Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser, Horvat - they're not going anywhere. Does Florida need goaltending? Could they be interested in Demko? Or even getting Markstrom back? I don't think goalie Bob has played well for them, and Spencer Knight won't be ready for a while.

Few Saturday Morning Loui Trade Ideas [proposals]
Nucker 67 replied to Whalespray's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Well, thank you for not including Brock in this proposal. As much as I dislike Brown, but if he made the Canucks tougher to play against and could produce, I'm in.
