I've been frustrated by Jake's play for years, but it's still a scary thought trading him and him going on to really do something with another team. It's like he's on the cusp on becoming that player. He's not expensive, they need to get rid of Eriksson, Sutter and Roussel more so than Jake. I wonder about his attitude, coming to camps out of shape. Do his team mates really like him? I know that if I've been busting my butt training for the upcoming season and the young local star shows up unprepared, and then gets caught at a night club during the pandemic, I'd be pretty pi**ed. But still, he has that skill set. Canucks are caught between a rock and a hard place.

[Proposal] Van-Ott Eriksson/Ryan trade
Nucker 67 replied to AK_19's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
No. Loui's only got 2 years left at $2.5. He will be traded with a younger player. -
[Rumour] Alex Pietrangelo to test free agency

Benning already said they weren't going into free agency (other than re-signing the big 3). Too bad, nothing to see here as a Canucks fan. -
[Speculation] Jake Debrusk might be available.

Boeser gets traded every day around here lol And he just confirmed again on the radio that he loves it here and he's not being traded. But maybe his name is often used in trade proposals, because he's worth a lot. More than any other player not named Horvat, Pettersson and Hughes. With Boeser, we could imagine a deal being made with any team, for one of their top players. Fantasizing is fun, but Boeser's not going anywhere, anytime soon. -

They should've changed their name too Ottawa Sentaurs and have a vicious horse/man creature wielding a hockey stick. way cooler lol -
Great to hear that there's another Canucks C prospect who's developing well. Focht Karlsson

[Report] Mikko Koivu to test free agency
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
First Staal, now Koivu? They're definitely getting younger, but also losing half of their Cs. -
Is this perhaps Louie Debrusk saying his kid is worth $6 million?

Tanev is highly valued around the league, Benning isn't going to just let him walk for nothing. I think Tanev will be re-signed to a very reasonable deal. He wants to be in VAN, VAN wants him here. Maybe 3 x $5?

Love Manny, but he's taught Bo well. Horvat will pass on his faceoff knowledge to the youngens. All the best Manny, don't give the Leafs all of your secrets.

[Speculation] Alex Galchenyuk to test free agency

More like the Wild are broke -
MIN obviously needs to shed some salary, with 4 of their D making $6+: Suter (35) - $7,538,461 for 5 more years Spurgeon (30) - $7,575,000 for 7 more years Dumba (26) - $6,000,000 for 3 more years Brodin (27) - $6,000,000 for 7 more years, after this season That Suter contract is brutal. Same with Parise (36), with 5 more years at $7.5+. Yikes. Benning needs to tread lightly

[Report] Kyle Clifford to test free agency
Nucker 67 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yes Pearson, Toffoli, Clifford -
What does the future hold for the Canucks RWers? Boeser Toffoli Podkolzin Lind MacEwen Lockwood I can see Podz playing in the bottom 6 for at least his first year in the NHL, but the kid has drive and may earn a top 6 spot after some time. Maybe a Boeser trade happens at that time, right before he becomes an RFA?
-
Even if Toffoli signs for $4.8, Benning still needs to shed some salary. Any mention of Tanev re-signing?
-
Benning was disappointed in Jake, from his playoff performance, or lack of. He made that no secret. And then a day or so later he kind of built Jake up again, commenting on his strengths (he's got size and speed, etc). It almost seemed as if he were trying to promote a "Jake Sale". I think Benning is trying to make a deal to trade Sutter or Eriksson, and using Jake+ as the sweetener.

Doesn't matter where Rivers plays, he loses DAL looks to be over-rated again, Prescott pfft

I don't think Boeser is getting traded anytime soon. He has a decent contract and great character. Would be great if Brock could score 25-30 every season. Can't ask for much more from a #23. He's still young and has had some bad injury luck. If he can stay healthy, he'll be a great player for years. When he becomes an RFA in 2 years, and is expected to make around $7.5, I can see Benning offering him around $6, then another team offering him the $7.5. Brock, being Brock, will re-sign in VAN for what Benning offers.

Feel like the Canucks are kind of hooped, in that they've got bad contracts and penalties for the next 2 years, and then Pettersson and Hughes will get huge raises. I'm not sure how they'll be able to re-sign all 3 of the big UFAs. Benning spoke very highly of Tanev and Markstrom, so I think they'll be back, but not sure they can afford Toffoli. Maybe they're waiting to see what they have in Lind and MacEwen at next camp? And if they aren't ready to play on Bo's line, there's always Loui
