  1. Yeah, the big gopher face has some speed. Maybe Green should staple Jake to him?
  2. Also got to give Gillis a ton of credit for putting together the 2010/11 team. Those were good times.
  3. Giliis was ahead of his time with innovation, sleep Dr etc. But I never thought he drafted well at all. He made one good pick - Bo Horvat. But he also drafted Cody Hodgson and left Erik Karlsson on the table. He took Jordan Schroeder when Ryan O'Reilly was available. He drafted Patrick McNally and left Brendan Gallagher for MTL. Okay, he was a terrible drafter. lol Could you imagine the Canucks having those guys in their prime? He made some good pretty good trades though. I wish him the best of luck in FLA.
  4. Every time Tuch is on the ice they should keep one D (Tanev) back. Tuch loves to cherry pick and with his speed, he usually wins on the breakaway.
  5. Pettersson is getting a lot of praise for his offensive skills. That goal he scored in Game 2, in tight to deke Lehner. Wow, Lehner was going one way, Petey the other. But Pettersson is also getting praise for his D game, his stick work and body positioning are exceptional. He has no fear and is willing to try and split the D and drive the net. Geez, I'd love to see Virtanen with that kind of confidence. Pettersson has also mastered how to absorb a hit and even make it work in his favour. So smart.
  6. COL vs DAL Yeah, zero shots for COL in the first 18 minutes of the 1st? Yikes. It also goes to show how important great goaltending is in the playoffs. Both BOS and COL were favourites, but without their starters, they could both be going home soon
  7. Yeah, the Vegas shooters were very precise with their shots (goals). Lasers top shelf. Canucks have trouble hitting the net at times.
  8. I think Kadri meant well, but is still a little ignorant on Ali history. Interesting that the players never wore team or NHL logo apparel, I never noticed that. Thanks for pointing that out. I'm surprised it's taken this long for the NHL players to talk about this topic, but the NHL has never been the most forward thinking league. They just got rid of Don Cherry, who should've been gone 10 years ago. The old white guard (who grew up in an era of blatant racism) are finally being kicked out. There's a lot I don't know about what goes on, how black athletes are treated differently. We can all learn though. I'm glad they're finally talking about it. Time to get serious.
  9. They could really mess with them and put some FERLAND sticks out too lol
  10. When I think about it, these Canucks have had an excellent year, and it's really promising what they might be able to do next year and the year after. There's 31 teams in the league right now, and the Canucks are in the Final 8 (soon to be the Final 7 thanks to TB). This is a team no one expected to compete yet, they were too young. Playoffs were a goal, but no guarantee with that. But the Canucks have exceeded expectations, having won two playoff series against two very solid teams and still in it against the best team in the west. Teams like TOR and EDM have some real issues to sort out before they'll be at VAN's level. And that's funny because they were both supposed to be so far ahead of the Canucks.
  11. Huge game. A win makes it a best of 3. A loss means almost certain elimination next week. I want to keep watching Canucks hockey, it's been so great, considering EDM, CGY and TOR were out a while ago. Not ready to take the car flags off just yet. I hope they can keep this going.
  12. The Canucks don't have a 1st or 2nd this year. I wonder if Benning will make a trade to get a 1st back.
  13. Boeser's skating isn't the same as when the qualifying round started against MIN. What I noticed about him last game is that his stick handling wasn't very good. He was trying to do too much in tight spaces and kept losing the puck. He needs to keep it simple and use his bread and butter more - that shot.
  14. Jake Virtanen is not who I hoped he'd be for the Canucks. It's been 5 years, he's 24. His production has increased ever so slightly each year, but it's not enough IMO. He still hasn't hit 20. Never mind 25-30. He has size and can give out some punishing hits, but he doesn't do that often enough. I don't know if they'll trade him though, still too much untapped potential. Do they re-sign him fairly cheap and keep him as a bottom 6 option moving forward? Not what I had hoped for Benning's first ever Canucks draft pick. Ah well, Benning was learning too at the time. (RW) Lind is working on getting up with the big team, and next in line after him I would imagine is (RW) Podkolzin. Will (RW) Lockwood be making strides? Maybe Virtanen will be relegated to the left side. Kind of reminds me of Office Space. "Yeah Jake, we're gonna need you to move your position to the back, way back on the left side. Yeah, that would be terrific. Thaaaanks".
  15. So, trade Boeser for an overpaid Swede with character issues, helping TOR shed that salary, and then also give TOR the Dman+ they need? Who are you? Who do you work for? jk No way Jose
  16. Yes, I was including all of the playoffs. MIN - Home (1-1) Away (2-0) STL - Home (1-2) Away (3-0)
  17. Canucks play better as the "road team" in these playoffs, so they've got a good chance tonight.
  18. What are the odds Tanev and Hughes get burned again by a Tuch breakaway goal? Happens every game. I'm assuming a rested Fleury and a tired Markstrom will start?
  19. 3 Reasons the Canucks lost: 1) Miller and Boeser weren't good 2) Markstrom was average 3) Lehner was very good
