For some reason, I was less stressed for this game. I had just assumed STL would take it to them, and they did, except Markstrom saved their bacon over and over. Thank Benning for him. It was a great result, and hopefully they can put away the Blues on Friday. Awesome to see Motte play so well and be rewarded, and for Jake to finally contribute. Losing Edler and Myers - is a huge blow. Well...hopefully Edler is okay. Tomorrow's game should be fun, STL will be playing desperate, dirty hockey, so I hope the Canucks can weather that storm and finish them off. I wonder if the "home team" will end up winning a game in this series?

I'm already out of the Bracket Challenge lol Fricken Bruins. Canucks could be the last Canadian team standing, so that's something. Yes, I'd really like to see Gaudette in for Jake. At least with Loui, I sense he's trying and he has a good D game. Gaudette brings an energy and if he scores, the celly is great. I'm sure if he got a shot, he'd give his all. Is Jake really that much faster than Adam? I think Gaud is pretty fast too.

See what happens with this game. If the Canucks are beaten tonight, I hope Green thinks a little more outside the box for Game 6, like letting Juolevi and Gaudette play. We've got to remember that this young team has its core and they will grow together, to one day become champions. These playoffs are just one of the steps to get there. I think giving Olli and Adam the nod would give them great motivation for the future, and would give them NHL playoff experience against the defending champs. Invaluable. I know the Canucks still have the games to win, but I have more faith in Olli and Adam, more so than Troy and Jake.

PREDICT THE SCORE CONTEST: Canucks vs Blues, Game 5, August 19th 2020

buckle up VAN - 5 STL - 4 - OT Bo -
Jake either plays too cautious and is invisible, or he plays undisciplined and takes bad penalties. I think he's afraid to make mistakes (he knows Green is watching him closely from the bench, and critiquing), so he's picking his spots to land a hit, and he is using his speed at times to back check. Maybe he lacks confidence. Corey Hirsch recently talked about how players shouldn't isolate in the bubble and that team mates should be checking in with each other, staying close and in touch. I just wonder if Jake's team mates are doing this with him. A change of scenery might be good for Jake. For all we know, he hates playing under the microscope in his own backyard. Maybe this is why Lucic and Evander Kane didn't want to play here. A lot of pressure for the home town kid to perform. Jake also has the added pressure of being a former 6th overall pick. A lot of expectations with that.

Like a roller coaster, I was pretty disgusted with last night's loss, and then the negative thoughts enter. But that was then. There's still Canucks hockey to be played. Canucks can still put up a good fight, and they're still in it. Anything can happen, so you never know. I haven't liked the last two games obviously, like others, but this Canucks group isn't going to just roll over and give up. Motte has been outstanding for the most part during these playoffs. Sutter has been good. Bo's been a leader. The Canucks still have scrappy veterans in Roussel and Beagle. And let's not forget Pettersson and Hughes - how competitive they are. They're not buying the "too young" label. Those kids are battling and taking a beating trying to win. Maybe it isn't over just yet.

Does Jake make another NHL team if he's traded? (other than DET or OTT) Or does he toil in their minor system? His work ethic stinks. I'm not sure other teams would babysit Jake like Green has done for years.

STL was asleep for the round robin, and even for the first couple of games in Round 1, but then they woke up and are showing why they won the Cup. They're a dominant team built for the long haul. Also, a Championship team needs every guy all in, committed to go to war. Thinking about some of the successful teams over the last few years, players like: Milan Lucic Brad Marchand Shawn Thornton Zdeno Chara Dustin Brown Drew Doughty Duncan Keith Troy Brouwer Dustin Byfuglien Dave Bolland TJ Oshie Tom Wilson Dave Perron Brayden Schenn all jerks, but all champions

Love Bieksa as a part of the NHL panel during these playoffs. Breathe of fresh air, and he's funny, tells it like it is. I'd love to hear what he thinks of Jake and his play so far.

Still a chance, series is tied, now a best of 3. If anything, we can enjoy at least 2 more Canucks games. It's great they're finally back in the big games after 5 years away. They've done well, considering their inexperience. I'm sure this will be a great learning experience for the young guys. They're learning what it takes to win and losing will give them motivation to come back next year and do better. But, we're still in it right? It ain't over yet. Hoping for some Canucks hockey on Sunday - unless they win the series on Friday .

I think the Blues just stole all of Horvat's swagger. Seeing the Blues players on the bench, laughing at Roussel who's trying to amp up the team, wanting to take anyone on. Rooster is one of the few who will sacrifice everything to win, but he can't do it alone. I see a lot of hard work by most of the Canucks players, but not enough sacrifice and do-what-it-takes to win attitude. Believe it or not, there are different rules in the playoffs. The Canucks are still trying to win by playing fair and with good sportsmanship.Teams like that don't win championships.

Maybe Podkolzin will be that player. Big, gritty, fast, hits etc. This team still needs more truculence. Maybe by the time Podkolzin and Woo join the team. Also, Lind, Focht and Rathbone make it? By then (2022), Pettersson and Hughes will have put on more muscle, fully developed and even better than they are now. More experience for Boeser, Gaudette and MacEwen. Maybe Juolevi turns into a Top 4 Dman. Horvat will be a veteran player. They still technically have a chance in this series, but whoever has the momentum, goes on to win. Do the Canucks have it in them to take the momentum back form the big, bad Champs?

The team with the most "Jerks" will probably win: STL - Perron, Blais, Schenn, Pietrangelo, Binnington, Brouwer, McEachern, Thomas, Sanford VAN - Roussel, Miller, MacEwen, Motte We're just not Jerky enough. Paging Jake Virtanen..... C'mon Jake, just pretend all of the Blues players are bouncers telling you to leave the Club. Get angry or passionate or whatever! Time for some push back.

Not a bad idea, if he can be had cheap enough. I wonder who Jake hangs around with in the bubble. Does he have friends on the team or other teams? Or does he spend all of his time alone, hanging out at the lounge or whatever. We always see photos of Pettersson, Boeser, Hughes, Tanev etc. all hanging out, but we never see Jake with other team mates.

The great players (Linden, the Sedins, Horvat, Pettersson, Hughes, etc) all have excellent work ethic. They want to be the best and lead by example. I'm not sure what Jake's priorities are, but I'm now wondering if his heart is even into playing hockey anymore. He doesn't look like he's having any fun, he looks frustrated, lost, a step behind. My giess is he doesn't get a lot of love from team mates. Bad team guy? The effort really isn't there either. I think for him, a good shift is when he doesn't make any glaring mistakes and he throws a hit. That's a pretty low bar for a 5-year NHL player with his skill set.

It will be interesting to see what kind of answer the Canucks have for the Blues in Game 5. The PP was the best in the league, and their bread and butter, but after going 0-7 last night, I think STL has them figured out. Pettersson is soooo predictable with his big one-timer in the right side slot. I know there's focus on Jake and his lackluster performance, but what about Boeser? He can't do anything out there. He looks slower than he did in the MIN series.

manhandled and bit**-slapped. I think back to that video of Bo strutting down the hallway (after his two big games), past the Blues players. Ahh, those were some good times. Momentum is the key, and STL grabbed it in Game 3 and haven't looked back. Really too bad they couldn't have gotten the record for Hughes. He certainly tried to generate offence and score. I think the Jake experiment is over. Really, he's no Cam Neely and never will be.
