Watching BOS-CAR, The Canes were up 2-0 in the 3rd. A couple of big, predatory hits changed the game in favour of the Bruins. McAvoy just destroyed Staal with a clean (but a-hole move) hit. It changed the momentum and now CAR is scrambling. Canucks need players, like Virtanen and MacEwen, to lay out some damaging hits, with intent to hurt. Just don't get a penalty. The hit has to be clean. This is how they need to play if they want that Cup. Playing nice in the playoffs gets you no where.

Arrgg, the Blues are giving me 2011 flashbacks. They're big and physical, they have some big jerks on the team, they play an aggressive, heavy game, and the refs aren't calling their dirty plays. Canucks PP in 2011 was the best from what I recall, same with this team these playoffs. Problem is, they aren't getting as many opportunities on the PP as they deserve. Canucks are just going to have to find another level, grind it out 5 on 5 and beat the Blues at their own game. Frig, if ever Jake needed a big game, this is it.

There was a point in the game, maybe 1st period?, when the Canucks (3rd line) were rushing up ice, trying to break into the O-zone, get some energy going, and Jake put them on a bad offside. They showed Roussel after the whistle and he gave Jake a look. The look was of annoyance.

Horvat’s goal not getting the limelight it deserved...

Happy Birthday Jake! Have a few cold ones....oh wait. No, don't do that. Hit the gym, then watch some game video.

I believe Stecher was involved in all 3 STL goals. Great guy, big heart, probably tries harder than anyone, but the Canucks need an upgrade here. I appreciate him wrestling, or whatever that was, against Perron. Great that he stepped up, but D wins championships, and Stech doesn't defend well enough. Watching Virtanen, I wondered how in the he** did he score 18 goals last year? He just isn't that good, he's not that smart, he reacts too slowly, he makes bad decisions, he doesn't use his size enough, he lacks confidence, etc. Enough. Get Gaudette in there, I wanna see some cellies. And what's wrong with Boeser? Started the playoffs against MIN like he was on fire, fast, gritty etc. He doesn't look the same. Tonight is a must-win.

Well, Canucks fans, whatever superstitious things you've been doing since this crazy ride began, keep up the good work! Game 1 against MIN, I wore my Hughes jersey (was a little warm). They lost. Since then (the last 5 games) I have a few things I make certain not to change. I have a Canucks light that flashes, that I turn on before game time. I wear my '94 Canucks tank, and I have the "We Are All One Team" 2020 playoff towel ready for waving.

I'm pretty sure Green is going to go with Benn. I'm hoping he can bring some grit and attitude to the lineup. Losing Myers' physicality might be felt. At least Benn is a tough player can hold his own. Who knows, Benn may turn out to be very physical and solid. And he might not take as many penalties as Myers did. Like the first two games, the Canucks need to come out fast and score first. Can Bo do it three times in a row?

Y'know, whatever happens is all gravy now. The Canucks weren't supposed to make the playoffs, but they did. They had to give away the 1st this year to NJ, but NJ never got a Top 5 pick, so Canucks fans don't have to cry over the Devils getting Lafreniere. Thankfully, that crazy good player will be playing in the east, against TOR. Even if there are twists and turns and unfair reffing etc., and even if the Canucks bow out at some point, this will all be a huge success for these young Canucks. They now have a good idea of what it takes. It's taken Bo years to develop into the player he is. Imagine Pettersson, Boeser and Hughes at 25. Along with Podkolzin, Hoglander, Focht, Rathbone and Woo... this team is set up for years to be very good. The ride is just beginning.

Rask put in his day's work, now he can leave and go home. And if the Bruins somehow win the Cup, he'll get his name on it. How convenient for him. It could be a serious family health issue, or he could be just fed up with the whole bubble thing. He did comment a couple of days ago (after a loss) that these don't feel like the playoffs without the fans, so I don't think he was enjoying himself.
