  1. If the Canucks need to be on a PP to score a goal, then they're not a very good team. Score more 5 on 5 goals, then they'll have something. Blaming the refs for losses is silly. Even if the Canucks get 5 minor penalties, that still leaves 50 minutes of 5 on 5 and/or PP time. Score a goal! What are they waiting for? Sure they had a lot of shots in Stalok's crest and glove, but how many Grade A chances did they have?
  2. Yes, I kept thinking about all those games they scored 6 or more goals this year. It was like 15 games or something. Where were the goals? Stalok looked like Brodeur in his prime against the Canucks lol
  3. Geez, it feels like it's been months since the Canucks scored a goal in a meaningful game The Canucks youth is very good, but their veterans aren't good enough. I give credit to Roussel for trying to get his team going, but he just ended up acting like a fool and taking bad penalties. Sutter and Beagle didn't do much. Eriksson was benched. Horvat just doesn't seem like a captain to me. Weird. Ferland is a nice addition, but he needs to play smarter, and not let his emotions get the best of him. I thought Pearson played okay, he was in the dirty areas, but Toffoli was pretty quiet. Pearson and Toffoli need to be better, they've been there before and won. Petey can only do so much with 2 opponents hanging off him at all times. Hughes made a lot of errors, a lot of giveaways Boeser played well, and looks better, faster Miller looked frustrated and bothered by something, ineffective Gaudette isn't ready yet, not for the big games. Virtanen needs to play if Green wants to have any chance of keeping his job
  4. On a good note, I thought Myers and Boeser played well. Boeser looks faster. Green might only have two games left as Canucks coach, so I hope he and his staff are working hard to figure out how to beat MIN. Not too encouraging with his comment afterwards "we need to be better if we want to score a goal". These are not the words of a great coach.
  5. They got under Ferland's skin. It worked. He could've just yanked his stick back, maybe throw a fist, but a spear? The Wild played the Canucks, Roussel teed it up with his stupid comments days ago. MIN played a very disciplined game, and they frustrated the he** out of the Canucks.
  6. It had little to do with the refs. C'mon. The Canucks took some bad penalties. Ferland spearing a Wild player when he was sitting on the bench? Are we going to blame the refs for the Too Many Men penalty too? The Canucks were bad, plain and simple. Question is: who is to blame?
  7. I thought they were ready to do something, on paper they look real good lol They aren't ready. It will take around 3 years before the Canucks are any kind of contender. Until then, they'll be a bubble team. Pettersson and Hughes are still puny by NHL standards. Can't have your best players being tossed around like Raggedy Ann and be expected to win big games. Gaudette isn't ready yet by the looks of it. Looking at this roster, it's a little embarrassing that Motte was one of the best players last night. This team still has Sutter, Roussel, Beagle, Eriksson - they won't do much with these guys still here. It'll take the young stars a few years to mature physically, and with the right coach, they might actually do something down the road.
  8. They're done. no goals is bad, but they can't even make a pass. Green isn't a very good NHL coach. Roussel is a clown, he cursed them before the series even started. Pettersson can't do anything out there, like a rag doll. Yeah. It's the same old disappointing result with this team, let down, whatever you want to call it. They need a new coach, someone who knows how to win. They also need to clean house in the off season and make a bunch of trades.
  9. I think it comes down to money. Who's being paid what? (the Young Stars are the exception) These guys will play: Eriksson - $6.0 Sutter - $4.375 Roussel - $3.0 These guys might not: Virtanen - $1.25 Gaudette - $916,667 MacEwen - $847,500
  10. ^^ great Draft (Virtanen) video, and Benning isn't really wrong. Jake scored 18 goals last year and has been getting better every season. I have no issues with him as a player on the ice. Green knows Jake better than anyone in the organization and I'm sure he'll be relying on him. Whether that's to take a seat and learn/focus, to being ready to be the next man up or on PP#1 or anywhere in between. I wonder if there are Eriksson fans out there who are fuming when Loui gets benched? lol A Canuck is a Canuck
  11. I would prefer Gaud over Sutter too, and MacEwen over Eriksson for that matter, but I think Green will want to surround the young players with as much veteran experience as possible. This is the first playoffs for the young stars. I hope it's a good experience for them. MIN has a good team. Roussel recently said in the media, that the Canucks have better players at all positions than the Wild. Does anyone else feel he may have harmed the Canucks chances with that statement? Never a good idea to basically guarantee a win. But even if they do, it doesn't mean the Canucks are a better Team. I hope they're aggressive and don't let up, and not how the Oilers started out last night. I'll be watching Stecher, he needs to defend better.
  12. My guess: Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Toffoli Roussel - Sutter - Virtanen Ferland - Beagle - Eriksson (Motte) OUT - Gaudette, MacEwen, Graovac, Bailey
  13. The D needs to be better. Stecher in particular, gets caught up ice and out of position often. I'd like to see this D: Edler - Hughes Juolevi - Tanev Fantenberg - Myers Stecher
  14. It all begins tomorrow for the Canucks! Today, I plan on watching a lot of hockey. I'm guessing Virtanen gets in for Game 1. He's too valuable to be sitting in the pressbox. If he doesn't get it done over the first couple of games, then sit him and give MacEwen a shot. I'd love to see Gaudette in over Sutter, but I have a feeling Green is going to go with experience here. Sutter may be better defensively as well. Same with Eriksson, I expect him to play. I'll guess that Motte will be the odd man out.
  15. Pettersson is sensational. A real pro. Never stops trying to get better. Eye on the prize, sets such a great example. He'll do great things, like bring VAN a Cup one day. I wonder what he thinks when he sees certain team mate(s), years older than him, mailing it in, being lazy, getting yelled at by the captain, benched by the coach, getting in the news for the wrong reasons. Never have to worry about Petey. His heart is in the right place.
  16. I would like to know - Does Gaudette get in over Sutter? I sure hope so.
  17. Win - EDM, CGY, ARI, DAL, NSH, MIN, CHI Lose - VGK, STL, COL, WPG
  18. Pettersson Horvat Gaudette Focht D.I.R. isn't wrong, the Canucks don't have much top talent at C in the system. In fact, none other than Focht. Will Graovac, Karlsson, Costmar and Zhuknov really make the Canucks full time one day? Doubtful. And Sutter, Beagle won't be here for much longer. Perhaps they will make some trades eventually, that will fill the two bottom 6 C spots, until Focht arrives. Maybe C's should be the main course on the menu at the Draft. On another note - I think they also need to trade Demko for a Top 4 Dman. The D needs to be better in front of Markstrom. Package him with Stecher.
  19. Jake is (will be) a 20-25 goal scorer, who plays with speed and lays out punishing hits. Nothing wrong with that. In fact, he's a real nice asset to have. Maybe we Canucks fans have been a little spoiled with the Saint-like Sedin twins for all those years. Sharing their wealth, time, energy, their lives to helping others - all while breaking Canucks records. Legendary. A lot of teams have guys like Jake though. Good players, but maybe like to party and have a good time. Patrick Kane was like this when he was young. Evander Kane was like this not long ago. What is it with the Kanes? I guess as long as he shows up every game and gives his all, produces, then we can't really complain. Well, I suppose we could, but why? Jake will eventually grow out of that lifestyle (he needs a good woman IMO, not some dancer named Candi).
  20. Game 1? Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Toffoli Roussel - Gaudette - Virtanen Ferland - Beagle - Motte Eriksson
  21. If he wants to play for the Canucks, he should be reasonable. I believe he loves it here wants to play here, so I don't expect any outrageous demands. I'll guess: 4 years x $5.5 Demko will be traded
  22. Petey at 21 - mature beyond his years Jake at 24 (in 2 wks) - party on dude
