  1. Like: the name Don't Like: the colour scheme or team logo
  2. Well, they're in a rebuild right now. Eventually they'll be very good with Zadina, Rasmussen, Svechnikov, Veleno and Seider developing. A good young goalie gives them a better chance to win now and down the road. Otherwise DET will be like the Oilers, a lot of scoring talent, but can't keep the puck out of their net. DET would still have guys like Abdelkader, Mantha, Nielsen, Larkin - and Virtanen. Maybe they add a few more veterans (like Sutter) to carry the load until the youngens arrive.
  3. Both teams sign and trade* to DET: Jake Virtanen* and Thatcher Demko to VAN: Tyler Bertuzzi* DET needs a young goalie who can give this team a better chance to win. Who do they have now? Howard (35) and Bernier (32). Demko will want to be a starter very soon and they have to re-sign Markstrom. DET would also get in return an amazing power forward (as some here would suggest), who just keeps getting better. Bertuzzi sure would look good on Petey's wing with Boeser, and then that 2nd line... Bertuzzi - Pettersson - Boeser Miller - Horvat - Toffoli
  4. The Sedins were amazing, and they had real good players supporting them throughout the years, but I agree that it just seems like Benning has assembled a team that will be very competitive for years to come. They've never had a Quinn Hughes, very exciting times. Pettersson is just going to keeping getting stronger and better, crazy good. Trying not to get my hopes up too high, but we might see the best Canucks team of all time yet and the team's first Cup. More to come.
  5. VAN wins, that's all I care about here. I think they can beat the Wild. Toffoli will be a difference maker in the Q rounds and playoffs. If Markstrom is sharp, they have the weapons in Pettersson, Boeser, Toffoli, Horvat and Miller, and the amazing Quinn Hughes - I think they're going deep.
  6. It would be nice if more Canucks fans embraced Juolevi. It has taken a long time for him to get to the show, and he's still trying, but you can't blame him for a few bad injuries, which required extensive rehab. It's disappointing that he hasn't been able to make the team yet, but he's not a disappointment. He's battled hard to get healthy and now he's here to earn a spot. Jake, on the other hand, is a pretty good player, but is a disappointment off the ice. Did he learn anything from the Sedins? Juolevi is healthy now. He's a smart, reliable Dman, and he will be an important part of the success of the Canucks down the road. I can't wait to see him play.
  7. I agree with yung1. I think being from the lower mainland, Jake is too comfy here. He still hangs with his long-time friends, and there's nothing wrong with that, unless it affects your play or your team. I wonder if he lived in Columbus, Ohio and played under Torts, would he be so carefree? It took Miller a while to mature as well, but it wasn't until he was traded for him to raise his game. Jake might be what he is here.
  8. Hmm, a plethora of RWers with Podz and Lind also possibly joining at some point next season, possible cap issues around the bend, an out of shape Jake again. Not to mention his antics with taking selfies while driving and hanging around a strip club with no mask. I find him to be selfish and lazy. He almost scored a career high 20 goals in his 5th season - almost. I'm not that impressed for a 6th overall. If he took things more seriously and had more respect for his team mates, maybe I'd think differently. I think he's gone before the end of the 2020/21 season. In fact, wouldn't it be wild if Benning made a move at the Draft? Canucks need picks.
  9. I'm so confused, who's playing who (rosters). Ah well, guess it doesn't really matter, I've missed hearing the names during the play-by-play. Makes it real. I was pretty hesitant to get excited for hockey's return, didn't think it would happen, but here we are!
  10. I think Juolevi's best asset may be his smarts. It's taken a while, with the injuries and development, but I think he'll still become a very solid defensive Dman.
  11. It's a sign! What teams (names, logos) are related to "water"? Orcas vs the Penguins or Hurricanes in the Final. Nice.
  12. So, the Canucks have him for one more year and he's using that to play in the KHL? Sounds like he's given up on the Canucks, maybe because he sees the Canucks D depth and his security here isn't very good.
  13. Hmm, my first thought was: maybe she would appreciate a day at the spa, a thoughtful gift - a day to herself to be pampered. Or heck, maybe a day for the both of you. She'd probably feel good about herself afterwards, and appreciate you thinking about her. Putting pressure on her to be more confident may backfire. She might feel okay with herself, and then you tell her she needs to do this or that or whatever. Could hurt her confidence. Buy her flowers, write her a love letter (my wife loves this stuff. I don't get it, but I don't have to), a little romance might help her feel more attractive about herself.
  14. I agree, I think Brock will be all business in the Q round, and beyond. He's healthy and has impressed the coach the most coming back. Can't wait to see him score with that shot again. Assisted by Hughes and Pettersson of course
  15. Good deal for the homeless. Maybe this will attract more to camp out in the parks, they got a green light. And with drinking soon to be allowed, woo dang! Remember when parks used to be for kids and families?
  16. D could look very different in a couple of years: Hughes - Tanev Juolevi - Myers Rathbone - Tryamkin Rafferty Woo
  17. How's Juolevi going to do? I really hope we get to see him in action during these rounds. I hope they don't trade Brock, but sometimes teams have to make tough decisions regarding the cap. My guess, Pettersson does the Swedish thing and agrees to a very reasonable contract in order to keep Brock in Vancouver. #bestfriends Maybe they trade Pearson? Won't get as much, but would Pearson and Stecher be a good trade for Severson?
  18. I think this year is different, because it's very different. The players are chomping at the bit, ready to race out of the gates. It's going to be fast. Who knows who will end up in the SCF though. The team with the least COVID cases?
  19. Has Domi decided yet? That would be a huge loss for MTL if he skips.
  20. I thought for sure he'd come back 100% healthy for the playoffs. But really, the Canucks never had him before, an they can still win, play with grit. I don't think there will be many of any fights, the playoffs will be about skill and speed.
  21. Poor Baertschi, so much bad luck. Sadly for him, it will continue after the Canucks win the Cup this year, with Kole Lind in the lineup.
  22. I agree, MacKinnon and Makar, they'll be tough to beat
  23. Yea, MacKinnon is a beast, and he's rested
  24. I'm thinking if the Canucks can get past COL, they can win it all. These playoffs are going to be about speed and skill, and who stays healthy. With Pettersson, Hughes and Markstrom, I feel good about our chances.
  25. Slow news day. Even if they wanted to trade Boeser, they can't right now. So why write about it? Let's get excited for some Canucks hockey! We can beat MIN and get back into the playoffs, Boeser will be great! Tsk tsk Sekeres
