  1. I've heard through someone (not a doctor) that this virus will affect the elderly and those with respiratory problems, etc. the worst. For some reason children are immune. She said we are basically okay, this will be just like the flu if we get it, and our immune systems will be able to fight it off. Is this true? Is the average fairly healthy person (under 60) really in any danger? I find some people are pretty relaxed with the whole pandemic, but others are seriously worried. I'm getting more paranoid, the more I watch the news.
  2. The Canucks are technically in, aren't they? The standings show VAN and NSH each played 69 games, each team has 78 points, VAN has 36 wins, NSH has 35. So, isn't VAN ahead of NSH?
  3. Did you see the way Green tore a strip off that linesman for making that bad call? Wow, he was on fire. Sure fired up the boys.
  4. I think it could be quite a while before they allow thousands of people back into arenas, not sure we'll see hockey in the near future. I think this could be another 1919 where they don't award the Cup, no playoffs. The 2020/21 regular season might also be "paused", we don't know. As for our 1st, I think they defer to next year (2021 Draft), but the Canucks will make the 2021/22 playoffs, and win.
  5. Loved it when Pettersson hammered Hall with that massive hit. Hall's season is done.
  6. This is unprecedented, and just getting started. Playoffs?! I hope we see a 2020/21 regular season.
  7. This is scary stuff, as it`s spreading now. One person could affect a whole room of people. And so on... I was concerned before, but now I`m wondering if I`ll be going to work for much longer. I take the Skytrain every day and I`ve been feeling a little creeped out lately when there are too many people crowded around me, some with masks. I don`t want to touch anything. I`m not a religious person by any means, but is this event in the Bible? Pestilence?
  8. The TSN panel has been dissecting this all morning, and one of them mentioned the financial importance of playoffs. Owners will want to still have playoffs at some point, because those games generate so much revenue. They would probably prefer to shorten next season in order to have playoffs this year, even in late summer, if needed. Not sure how they`re going to determine the drafting order though, if they still do that in late June or maybe they push it back to July/August. It`s going to get really interesting. I think I could handle taking 3 months off (early off season for players?), then resuming the last few games in late June, starting the playoffs on July 1st, etc. Hockey over the summer sounds okay. And then a month later they have training camp, and then maybe in November/December the 2020/21 season will start. That would be weird, but at least we would have hockey.
  9. If he signs with us, then it`s all good. But if he walks, well, the Canucks wasted some valuable assets. Toffoli has had success here since he arrived, and it looks like he really likes to play with Pettersson. That saucer pass from Pettersson to Toffoli for the goal last game was a beauty. Maybe he sees the Canucks as an up and coming team with some serious skill and wants to be a part of that? Hope so.
  10. Yeah, that`s a good point. In fairness, I guess it should be based on PPG average or something. How messed up.
  11. Maybe the season ending now will be a blessing in disguise. The Canucks are currently out of the playoffs. One more win and maybe they get a WC spot - meaning no draft pick this year. Maybe, just maybe the Canucks win the Draft lottery after this weird and whacky 50th season. Even a Top 3 would be so sweet. I guess we`ll see how they work this out, I`m just trying really hard to find a positive here, and maybe that will come at the Draft lottery. My first thought was MTL will get the 1st to Draft the Frenchie, but you never know. Maybe this is finally the year for VAN.
  12. 1. MVP - Miller 2. Unsung hero - Gaudette 3. Most exciting player - Hughes 4. Best defenseman - Hughes
  13. All because of a wet market in China. They`ve really got to improve the health standards in some countries. Bats infecting animals and then sold as food? WTF? Anyway, I`m pi**ed, and becoming concerned for what the future holds, for all of us. I`m really going to miss hockey, was just getting exciting and nerve-racking. Canucks were in a decent position to get into the playoffs. We got Toffoli and Boeser came back. What could`ve been. I am hoping that Toffoli signs with the Canucks, he`s a good player. I guess all we can do is take it day by day, hopefully they find a remedy and life gets back to normal.
  14. Sounds like the season will be done, not just postponed. Apparently there are all kinds of issues where even if the players are all healthy, them being in public places they could possibly catch something and then it could be passed through other players etc. I think the virus will need to be completely dealt with before we see sports again. That could take months.
  15. All of the major sports leagues (except the KHL) seem to be canceling their seasons. I guess the NHL will be doing the same. Not sure how this will all play out, but my guess is this virus is just getting started. It`ll be interesting if the season resumes later. What to do now? Binge watch Netflix? I guess I could also re-watch Slap Shot and Mystery, Alaska.
  16. What I don't understand is they canceled the NBA season because one player got infected and may have transferred it to other players etc. But I don't believe an NHL player has been affected (yet). So, couldn't they keep playing the games (without spectators), until someone contracts it? In basketball they're just wearing basically a tank top and shorts and use their hands to play with the ball. But in hockey, players are equipped head to toe and wear gloves?
  17. I wonder how competent the Canucks medical staff is. Shouldn't they have known the severity of Boeser's injury? He came back a lot quicker than anyone expected. But you'd think the medical staff would have a clue.
  18. So, Benning traded Schaller, Madden, a 2nd and a conditional 4th - for 10 games from Toffoli.
  19. This sucks. Hopefully we get to watch the Canucks play tonight, things seem to be happening very quickly. What will this mean for the NHL Awards and the Draft? If they play tonight and the Canucks "get in"? Do they have to give up their 1st this year? Can't believe I'm saying this, but hopefully the Leafs beat the Preds tonight, not that it really matters Sad times.
  20. They can thank Quinn Hughes for the improvement, not Green. Edit - and Miller
  21. Sorry for my ignorance, but is this virus airborne? Like, if someone is unwell 10 feet from me, can I catch the virus? Or is it only transferred by touch? Just thinking about opening the windows on the train and bus, would that help?
  22. The owners would sure lose a lot of money, millions for every team in the playoffs. I actually prefer to watch the games at home on the big screen, comfortable, got my fridge, got my cannabis, no lineup for the washroom, I can pause it or rewind. I can fast-forward through the commercials and Ron MacLean. And I don't have to take the train in to Vancouver or fight the crowds on the way home. I did hear though, that if they don't allow people to attend that they would still produce the game on TV. But, I believe we would have to pay to watch the games (PPV) I wonder as well, with this virus, packing in hoards of peope in tight spaces isn't a good idea. So, will they continue to run the Skytrain if things get worse? I have to take that germ tube every day, and some days there's people right in your face. Makes me think "maybe it's not that bad, life seems to be going on as normal. I'm still required to take the train to come in to work every day. Kids are still in school. Maybe everything will be fine?" How bad will this get?
  23. Be a pretty lame SCF if there are no fans in the stands.
  24. Not overly concerned with the D either. For the 2021/22 season: Edler - Myers (I can see them re-signing Edler) Hughes - Tanev Tryamkin - Rafferty Brisebois Juolevi Rathbone Woo Utunen Maybe Stecher, Benn and Fantenberg are gone by then.
