What do you want as the Canucks alternate/third jersey?
Nucker 67 replied to Roberts's topic in Canucks Talk
lol my gosh, that is not a very nice jersey. Way too dark. It looks like one of those knock-offs people buy overseas. -

That would be pretty good, but as long as it`s not the yellow lol I have a feeling the new alternate jersey will be the stick in rink, but on a green jersey. -

[Discussion] Who would you trade the 10th OA for?
Nucker 67 replied to Seannnp's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Sergachev or one of the Tkachuks -
Gaudette doesn't have the resume yet to fetch a good return. Makes no sense to trade him now, for little, and then he matures and develops into a power forward somewhere else? No way. If anything, trade him in 5 years when other teams really want him. Or keep him.

It sounds like: Pettersson joined the Canucks and never looked back. Dahlen, his team mate and best friend growing up, felt he deserved the same treatment as Elias.

Not sure what it is. I did laugh at the "toilet bowl collar" comment lol Maybe it's the striping? Maybe the white stripes need to be thicker or a different striping design? or maybe there needs to be some green and more blue in the logo? I do like the white shoulder patches on the blue jerseys. Never liked the lettering/numbering font.

NJ would be crazy NOT to take Kakko. He could step in this fall and be a contributor. IMO, Hughes is a couple of years away from doing anything significant in the NHL. And even then, I don't think he's a good as Kakko. It's a lot of hype for the young man (Hughes), but probably because he's the best NA player.

[Proposal Draft Day] Van - Wild
Nucker 67 replied to HughMungus's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I hope Benning can somehow play another GM, maybe hinting to Bergevan (MTL) that the Canucks have interest in Lavoie, or Fenton (MIN) that they have interest in Soderstrom, if that's who they covet, etc. Maybe Benning can get a top 6 forward or an extra 1st next year (plus the 1st this year) in the trade for the #10. Lavoie seems to be ranked mid-round, maybe even in the 20-25 range. But he could become a more impactful NHL player than say, Caufield, due to his size, skating, smarts, heavy shot, etc. I wouldn't mind getting him at all. -
Gaudette is not a tradable asset right now. He has 5 goals in 61 NHL games. What would that get? lol

Most hated player in history amongst Canucks’ fanbase?
Nucker 67 replied to Hindustan Smyl's topic in Canucks Talk
present day Getzlaf and Perry have to be up there too (with Kesler of course) Brown and Doughty from LA Keith Laine Subban Kotkaniemi (when he took down and injured Pettersson behind the play for no reason) Karlsson (get a haircut) Dillon Bergevan (MTL GM) Reeves Matt Tkachuk (and his Dad) Kadri Lucic the Bruins the Leafs -
lol that's the first thing I thought of "is that Macaulay Culkin?" lol
-
Okay, from that angle and seeing the stick in rink shoulder patches, I don't mind this too much. I would've preferred different striping, but at least the pretentious VANCOUVER is removed.
-
I don't think signing a big ticket Dman is the way to go. Karlsson has shown he's wearing down and his contact will be an anchor one day. I don't want Myers because I don't think he's that good. They'll re-sign Edler. I would like one of: Skinner, Eberle, Nyqvist, Donskoi or Ferland. (two if they can trade Sutter and Eriksson)

[Proposal Draft Day] Van - Wild
Nucker 67 replied to HughMungus's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Wha?? I'd be soooo choked if Benning traded a future young star for Zucker. to MIN: #10, Sutter and Hutton to VAN: #12 (Seider) and Zucker final offer -
Does anyone else have concerns about Seider's injuries? He looks like he could become an amazing Dman, the size, speed, smarts, plays physical, great defensively, and he's a right shot. Sounds perfect. I hope he doesn't block a lot of shots he doesn't need to (Tanev). I think he's smarter than that though. Lots of real good forwards in the Top 10 though. They could go with Boldy or Krebs with the 1st and then take Bjornfot or Thomson with the 2nd. Or they could take Seider with the 1st and then Dorofeyev, Grewe or Hoglander with the 2nd. I'd be happy with both scenarios.
-
I think there could still be a few good D when we pick again at #40. Maybe we get Thomson or Korczak, maybe Heinola, Vlasic or Bjornfot are even still kicking around. Like Benning was saying, lots of D, but not much at the high end. So, why not wait until the 2nd to take a D? I`m now hoping for this. Who`s to say Harley will be better than Bjornfot in 5 years? Could be the other way around. Maybe it`s risky taking a D at #10 this year. After Byram and maybe Soderstrom, it`s a gamble. Save it for the 2nd. Be nice to get Boldy and Thomson with the first 2 picks, as an example. That`s like two 1st rounders IMO
-
Benning: “Defencemen are deep this year, maybe not at the high end, but once you get halfway through the first round, there’s a lot that we like. If that guy is there at No. 10 we’ll be taking him.” #Canucks It sounds like they like a mid-round Dman with the #10. Maybe it`s Harley? Maybe it`s Broberg or Seider? Well, if they go with a D, at least that pick will improve the backend for years to come. Add him to Hughes, Juolevi and Woo and it`s looking good.

Sens, Sharks Karlsson Deal..Who Won?
Nucker 67 replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in General Hockey Discussion
They're all losers -
Gaudette was a great 5th rounder, but if he fetches the Canucks an extra 1st, I hope they go for it. Canucks have Madden developing, who could also become the #3C.
-
I would be really happy with Lavoie. He has size, leadership qualities, speed, great shot, can handle the puck, protects well, plays C and wing, etc. Say the Canucks sign Ferland as a UFA, and in a couple of years: Ferland - Pettersson - Lavoie I know he's ranked around 15-20 or so, but so what? I believe Pettersson was ranked around #12-14 last year. So....
-
Watching Pettersson last year, he was phenomenal, considering his age and weight, and being a first year player in NA. Still, he was hounded and had less and less time and space as the season wore on. He was even injured twice, which could've turned out much worse. Pettersson is a tough kid though, and he battles through it. He's also a really smart kid, and he'll figure out how to beat his opponents next season. Pettersson is 6'2", so he has good size (just needs to fill in a bit, which he will do) Caufield is a different player altogether. He's slower than Pettersson, he's small at 5'7", but also underweight. He's had great success playing next to Hughes as a kid, but he'll need to figure out how to continue scoring at a torrid pace without Hughes - as the competition gets tougher. Good luck with that. When I watched the U18, I was blown away by Caufield's scoring, but I think it was somewhat of an illusion. Looking forward to watching Caufield develop and see where he gets to. If he makes the NHL and if he can withstand how punishing it is, while producing. I keep thinking playoffs, and how will these kids do if they ever get to the NHL playoffs. The bigger skilled players (Podkolzin, Dach, Cozens, Boldy, Lavoie) all seem to be future playoff performers to me. They're all so smart and have size/speed (although, Boldy still needs improvement with his speed). It's a very long, grueling season.

How disappointing. I thought this was a Game of Thrones thread lol

Most hated player in history amongst Canucks’ fanbase?
Nucker 67 replied to Hindustan Smyl's topic in Canucks Talk
I find it interesting that the majority say the most hated player by a Canucks fan - was a Canuck lol I was living in Winnipeg when Messier played here, so I wasn't affected by it. The fact that he just didn't deliver, I guess is maddening. But wasn't that Keenan's fault for bringing him here? Might as well add Eriksson to that list. Anyway, it's Marchand all day for me. The guy has no class, kissing his ring finger when he played here. The cheap, dirty shots, and even stooping as low when trying to lick other players. Using Daniel's head as a punching bag, etc. He's Public Enemy #1 for me. Before him it was probably Sean Avery. -
Zegras and Pettersson could have fun playing keep-away with opponents lol They both pass extremely well, very skilled in that regard. While, Boeser, sets himself up for the one-timer. Speaking of: I hope Boeser has is working on that part of his game this off season. He tends to take too much time eyeing up or setting up the shot, needs to just let 'er rip when it hits his stick.
