  1. I just put my Top 5 forwards who could play with Pettersson (who I would prefer), and the two Dmen I think could be worth taking with the #10, one of them to possibly play with Hughes one day. The 7 players I have on my list are all 6'1" or bigger (and have skill, hockey IQ, and can skate). I don't really want a smaller player with the #10 (Caufield, Newhook) Canucks need to prepare for the playoffs, as they're now on the upswing of the rebuild and could be knocking on the door soon. I would rather have a big skilled player join the team late in the 2020 or 2021 season (heading into the playoffs), than a small player just out of college, getting totally overwhelmed with the speed and physicality of the toughest league in the world. A bit of an eye-opener for me watching the Worlds. Kakko looked like he fit right in, was one of the best players, won Gold. Jack Hughes was a healthy scratch and looked like a boy out there. Could hardly keep his balance at times, getting knocked around. I can't imagine how ineffective Caufield would've looked in that tournament. These kids will grow over time, but why not start with a guy who's 6'3", who can take a hit, who can use his strength - right away?
  2. ? - Pettersson - ? 1. Dach 2. Cozens 3. Boldy 4. Lavoie 5. Podkolzin ? - Hughes 6. Broberg 7. Harley
  3. Surprised most people want to pay him more, even though they don't have to (according to this poll)
  4. I find this very interesting, and odd. I can`t see the Kings drafting a small player like this. Especially with Podkolzin, Cozens, Turcotte and Boldy still on the board.
  5. It would be a little scary to draft Podkolzin, but the rewards could be huge. Plays with speed and bite, he would look great with Pettersson. Tryamkin would be on the first flight lol I would be nervous with that pick, but I`d also be ecstatic. The guy is probably the 3rd best player in the Draft. He ticks all of the boxes, but Benning will find out his intentions during the interviews.
  6. I like the idea of a big, skilled player with the 1st. Got to think playoffs and durability. (C/RW) Dach (C/RW) Cozens (LW) Boldy (LD) Broberg (LD) Harley (C/RW) Lavoie
  7. I`m happy with the prospects and young players they have. We have no idea what a full season of Hughes will do for the D, maybe Juolevi makes it midway through the season. Horvat will lead the team as captain, Pettersson has looked great at the Worlds. Benning needs to make some trades, and the #10 pick will be a player we can get excited about. Who knows, the Canucks might just have a really good year.
  8. So true lol If they are dead set on keeping the orca as the logo, then at least make it look mean. This orca looks like he`s had a long night of doing cocaine, chattering teeth. Or is it supposed to look cold? Smiling for the camera on an orca site-seeing tour? lol
  9. Yay? To be honest, I thought they were already in lol
  10. You mean mentioned here on CDC? I don't recall any real discussion in the media about Karlsson coming here. In fact, I believe he even said before leaving OTT that he doesn't want to play in Canada. That, I believe. Yet, some people keep trying to bring him here lol Can't force the guy, sheesh. Besides, his best days are behind him, he's overpriced and obviously couldn't get 'er done on a great Sharks team. No thanks.
  11. Does this look like a guy who will dominate the NHL? lol Kind of funny, looking at all of the photos of the USNDT players, it looks like they all had makeovers (hair styles, skin care, teeth whitening, etc) prior to the photos lol Are these guys a bit pampered?
  12. First, Benning calls Bergevan and tells him the Canucks have interest in Lavoie. MTL panics and become open to a trade. (lol) To MTL: #10 (this way they can guarantee getting Lavoie, if they want him that badly), plus? To VAN: #15 and Poehlling
  13. Absolutely. I watched the U18 and Podkolzin was relatively quiet for the first few games I watched. But the Gold game he was outstanding. So much power, protects the puck so well along the boards, drives the net, speed and power, that's what I saw. He rose to the occasion when it mattered, and I could see him being a playoff beast one day. Call me crazy, but I'm surprised Jack Hughes has been ranked #1 all year. I don't think he's the best player. Kakko is better. Hughes is a great skater and skilled with the puck, but he doesn't have that power or bullish grit that Podkolzin has.
  14. Wasn't Jake supposed to work on his hands last summer? Chose to work on his card hands in Vegas instead I guess. lol Skating Shot Passing Stick-handling D-game Physicality Hockey IQ Competitiveness Who does ALL of these things best?
  15. Only problem with that is the quality of the players drops off the further down you go. Canucks need better quality players.
  16. I've wondered why some Europeans prefer to stay and play in Europe, when their goal is the NHL. Wouldn't they want to get comfortable with the smaller ice as soon as possible, life in NA and play against pre-NHL (AHL) competition? I just realized that he's probably too young to play in the AHL. So, it makes sense that he would want to stay and play in Russia against better opponents. More will be revealed at the interviews though. Maybe he has every intention to come to NA after the 2 years and rip it up?
  17. Just the whole Russian thing, and the uncertainty he'll actually play in NA. Of course, I don't know what Benning thinks, but Pod seems like a risky pick, and I'm not sure Benning can afford to take many risks with the #10.
  18. With the buzz that Schenn might be re-signed and used as the #6 Dman, what becomes of Tanev? I have a feeling they'll trade him for another 2nd this year. Lots of good players should be around. If this happens and they go with the forward at #10, maybe they'll take back-to-back Ds with the 2nds. Be great to get both Thomson and Korczak.
  19. Edler - Hughes Hutton - Stecher Juolevi - Schenn Tryamkin* Tanev?
  20. I like Schenn and I think he gets rewarded with a new 1-yerar contract. He brings a lot of physicality to the back end, protects the goalie better than any Canucks Dman I can recall. He's not the fastest player, but he's smart and gets into good position, he doesn't tend to get caught up ice. I'd prefer Schenn over Biega.
  21. Taking Soderstrom could be wise. Canucks need serious help at RD, and having another elite mobile Dman would certainly help the offence. I've liked a few of the Swedish players (Soderstrom, Broberg, Bjornfot, Grewe, Hoglander) Top 6 Ferland - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Grewe Top 4 Tryamkin - Hughes Juolevi - Soderstrom
  22. Really curious who's going to end up taking Podkolzin and Caufield. These don't sound like Benning type guys. If I had to guess, I could see a list of: 1. Kakko 2. Hughes 3. Byram 4. Dach 5. Turcotte 6. Cozens 7. Zegras 8. Krebs 9. Boldy and if these guys are gone, then he goes with Soderstrom.
  23. Saw that the mynhldraft has the Canucks taking Caufield. Well, it`s just their rankings and they have Caufield at #10. They also have Zegras at #4 and Byram behind him. Benning hinted that the Canucks were needing another mobile Dman. They also need better right-shot Dmen. Enter: Victor Soderstrom. Sure there`s been rumours of Benning saying they have interest in Broberg, but I think that`s just to throw off the scent. Maybe he`s hoping EDM takes him at #8. They might also have their eye on him. Benning nailed it with a Swede 2 years ago and he`s going to do it again, and again with the 2nd. lol Tryamkin - Hughes Juolevi - Soderstrom Bjornfot - Woo Rathbone would be nice down the road anyway
  24. So, if it's size, speed and hockey IQ... Podkolzin Dach Cozens Harley Lavoie Leason Seider
