I don't know. I think Podkolzin is the 3rd best player in this Draft. Passing on him at #10? So he wants to play the next 2 years in the KHL. He would be 19-20 when he joins the NHL. Why is this a problem? Can a player refuse to be Draft eligible in the NHL? Maybe it's a silly question, but I wanted to ask anyway. Reason being, if Podkolzin had no intentions of playing in the NHL, why would he make himself eligible to be drafted? What if he turns out to be like Draisaitl?

If Benning can get the #8 and a big power forward from Holland - for nothing, then he should win GM of the Year.
-
As a rebuilding team and wanting to present their new GM (Holland), EDM won't want to trade their 1st just to get rid of Lucic's contract. Holland could probably make a trade and get assets in return. Moving up 2 spots in the draft is expensive. It would probably cost us taking on Lucic's contract just to move up the 2 spots, plus our #10. Just my opinion.

To VAN: Lucic, #8 To EDM: #10 Do we really want to do this?

Hughes - Seider you on? Go Canucks Go!
-
This is wild. Seider is known as a real defensive defenseman with little to no offence. But it looks like he can provide a little offence afterall. Starting to wonder if he'll even be around at #10 lol One (lucky) team might take a real chance.

[Proposal] Vancouver & Edmonton and Off season Plan
Nucker 67 replied to Seannnp's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
It would be cringe-worthy funny listening to Benning trying to sell this to Holland. -
EDM will have to deal with Lucic. Why should the Canucks rescue them? Say EDM has Boldy lined up to draft at #8. Is Boldy really going to be a better NHLer than Broberg or Soderstrom? Moving up 2 spots doesn't matter all that much, but it is bloody expensive. I would rather Benning make some trades to acquire an extra mid-late 1st or high 2nd.
-
Hughes - Seider would be a great pairing some day. Hughes would be free to wheel around, making plays, being offensive, without worry of pinching or getting caught up ice, while Seider would hold the fort, shut down Dman like a wall in front of Markstrom. Seider is also a big dude who can really skate. He just turned 18 a few weeks ago and could probably play in the NHL next year sometime.

Gotta say, Loui's looking good at the Worlds. Hopefully this raises his trade value. Wouldn't it be just the Canucks luck that they trade him and he has success somewhere else. That's what concerns me about trading Goldobin as well. I can't recall what Pettersson and Eriksson line looked like that last year. Is Loui a possibility to play on his line again something Green would be open to? He looks like a different player when he's motivated. So, is the problem Green?

Comedy genius, him and Korman were so fricken funny, couldn't help but laugh along. No cursing required.

I recorded a few of the games and I watched the Sweden vs Italy game last night, Pettersson seemed to struggle. He doesn't shoot enough. Tries to do too much in a phone booth and lost the puck a few times. He needs to shoot more.

Can't see Krebs or Dach falling to #10. Podkolzin maybe, but that would be a dream. I think it comes down to: Zegras Caufield Boldy Newhook Soderstrom Broberg If these are the choices, go with the D.

Player who could be ours: My take: score out of 10 for each (Skating, Shooting, Passing, Stick-handling, D-game, Physicality, Hockey IQ, Compete) Seider - (8), (8), (8), (7), (10), (9), (8), (8) = 66 Soderstrom - (9), (8), (8), (8), (7), (7), (9), (8) = 64 Broberg - (9), (8), (9), (6), (9), (8), (7), (7) = 63 Zegras - (7), (7), (9), (9), (5), (7), (8), (8) = 63 Harley - (8), (8), (8), (7), (8), (8), (8), (7) = 62 York - (9), (7), (8), (8), (7), (6), (8), (8) = 61 Caufield - (7), (10), (8), (8), (5), (5), (8), (8) = 59 Boldy- (6), (7), (8), (7), (8), (8), (8), (6) = 58 Newhook - (8), (8), (8), (7), (5), (6), (8), (8) = 58 EDIT - I kind of rushed through this, and just my first take. Can't just look at goal scoring and fancy stick handling and passes.

Interesting that Bettman was born and raised in New York, and now resides in New Jersey. And NJ gets the #1, NYR get the #2. Hmmm......

I thought he signed the new 3-year deal in February 2018. So, I guess he has two years left? This off-season is huge for him. There is a lot to fix. If he doesn't do enough, and the Canucks end up out of the playoffs again next spring, I'm not sure they keep him around to botch another off-season.
-
This is my hope as well. Goldobin's definitely got skill and some speed, good shot, but he looked like he played a bit scared last season. Maybe afraid to make a mistake or to get his hands dirty. I hope he's hitting the gym hard and shows up to camp ready to go. That #1LW spot is still up for grabs.

8 - Tanev to be traded 8 - Gaudette to take over Tanev's old number 88 - Tryamkin returns Edler - UFA Tramkin - Hughes Hutton - Stecher Juolevi
-
I can agree that he played a big role in the 2011 SCF run, especially round 3. But so did the twins, Burrows, Lu, Ehrhoff, Edler, Hamhuis, Lapierre, Bieksa, Salo and Torres etc. The twins led the team in points that playoffs, so saying "legendary" is a bit of a stretch. The media probably remembers that NSH series well, that was Kesler's career highlight. It's been all downhill since.

2018-19 Utica Comets Thread
Nucker 67 replied to stonecoldstevebernier's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Not sure how it all works, but will Madden, Lockwood, Rathbone and Woo be joining the Comets this season? -
One good playoff series 8-9 years ago warrants legendary status? He was never even a point-a-game player at any time during his career. But okay, he didn't get my vote. He's going to have top be a warrior rehabbing that bad boy lol (I find that the term warrior is really overused for this guy) Burrows was a warrior.

It would be great if any of the top guys fell (Byram, Podkolzin, Turcotte, Krebs), but the problem with that is EDM and ANA are picking ahead of us. I think this is Benning last Draft, unless he works some magic this offseason and gets them into the playoffs next year. This #10 pick is a big one. Will he draft a Pettersson or Hughes? Or will he draft a Virtanen or Juolevi? I don't mean to disrespect Olli, but until he plays in the NHL, it was a bad pick. Hopefully he plays this year and becomes a Top 4 Dman, redeeming himself.
