Hall - Hischier - Kakko I'm thinking NJ is going to pass on Hughes. But Hughes will still be a star in NYC. I keep flip-flopping between safe pick and risk-taking. Part of me knows they need better D, so Soderstrom, Broberg or Seider. But then another part of me says I hope they take a chance on scoring a forward Caufield or Newhook.

Loui's good playing in the Worlds is good news for Benning. Maybe he'll actually be able to trade him this off-season. It's actually a pretty good time to trade any of the Euros, right after an international tournament. I find they always play better when wearing their country's colours.

I know signing a big ticket player would be expensive and a little scary with the future cap etc. But the Canucks have to do something big in order to keep up with the rest of the west. Other teams are making improvements, and the Canucks will fall further behind if they don't do something big. Signing middle 6 checkers isn't going to get them to the playoffs and beyond. The problem with signing those guys is that Benning now has to try and trade them, and their value is very low. What bugs me is: We had Dahlen. And instead of getting him up and some NHL experience, he traded for Spooner and sent Dahlen packing for an unknown player in Europe. SJ is laughing. They'll probably win the Cup this year (unless Bettman prefers Marchand get another ring), and then we might see Dahlen in Sharks uniform next season. But hey, we got Spooner lol

Lucic scored 30 goals once in his career. But last year he had a career low of 6 in almost a full season. Buyer beware. He doesn't need a fresh start, he needs it to be 2010 again.

[Proposal]Eriksson + 10th for Lucic + Bouchard
Nucker 67 replied to Hindustan Smyl's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Eriksson has one less year on his contract and is playing for Team Sweden at the Worlds. What is Lucic doing these days? I'd much rather keep Eriksson. -
Soon, Hughes, Kakko, Byram etc. will all be the enemy. I'm not going to pump their tires. Looking forward to seeing who Benning drafts at #10. This could be his last draft as the Canucks GM (depending on playoffs next year), so he's going to have to make a very smart pick. I think he goes with a Dman: Broberg, Soderstrom, York, Harley or Seider. And then gets a forward with the 2nd. Maybe he nabs another 2nd and they get Beecher and Grewe.

Trans individuals are killing female sports
Nucker 67 replied to sam13371337's topic in Off-Topic General
IMO, For sports, whatever parts they were born with. Certainly that has to be on the application, right? What`s next? An onslaught of underskilled males putting on wigs and makeup, and claiming to be female so they have a better chance of winning? Sheesh. Where`s the honour in that? -
Its funny how Lucic and Benn now want to come home. The Pettersson effect?

How much value does Goldobin have, in comparison to Virtanen? Goldy - 24 at start of season. 19 - 27 = 46 in 124 games Jake - 23 at start of season. 32 - 27 = 59 in 210 games

Bo will be named captain at the start of next season. My guess is they wanted to see if they won the lottery first (Hughes) before they commit (assuming they got Hughes, then Bo would probably be traded). And they also probably felt no need to rush it, after all the great years with Henrik as captain. Maybe it was just to take one year after the Sedins to see what they had, and then they would make their decision. Bo deserves the C.

Benning has said that all of the teams that made the playoffs have mobile D and that they have work to do. I guess Hughes and possibly Stecher and Rathbone isn`t enough. This, to me, means he is targeting another mobile Dman with the 1st. I previously predicted Newhook, but now I wonder if he`ll go for Soderstrom. Cam York could be another player they might like. He was very good at the U18. Yes, he is a LD, but I believe him and Hughes can both play R and L. I also believe Tryamkin will return. Tryamkin - Hughes Juolevi - Soderstrom Hutton - Stecher Woo Tryamkin - Hughes York - Woo Juolevi - Stecher Hutton Each pairing would have an offensive mobile player, and a defensive player Not sure how I would feel about this.

Someone Is Getting Fed Polonium Soup In Russia Soon

Putin 8 shots 8 goals Death to the goalie if he makes the save -
That's the thing eh? The Canucks might get good picks at the draft, but so will most of the other teams. In EDM's case, they're picking two spots ahead of us. If the Canucks start next season with Eriksson, Sutter, Granlund, etc. then I'm afraid we may be in for another season of frustration. Canucks could sure use some good luck. Maybe Juolevi will be ready and steady, maybe Tryamkin comes back, Maybe Markstrom and Demko steal us a bunch of games. Pettersson and Hughes are God-sends, as those two players are super elite and give the Canucks a chance every night. They need more of this. Benning needs to try and get another 1st.

Let's talk about risk. Caufield, for example, is ranked in the Top 10. Probably the best goal scorer in this Draft. But yet he's seen as risky, because of his size? But does it really matter how big or small he is if he's potting 60 goals a year? Same with Podkolzin. Risky because he's Russian? How 'bout Seider? Risky because he plays in Germany? I think there are risks with almost every player. Will Hughes dominate the NHL as a top line C, even though he lacks size? Will Boldy be too slow to keep up with the speed of the top 6? Will Zegras get his head taken off for being a s-disturber? Does Broberg have a high enough hockey IQ? But, of course, any of these players could turn out to be great players. If I had to choose one or two players who don't concern me, where I feel there is very little to no risk, that would be Krebs or Turcotte.

I have a bad feeling he's going to turn that organization around in a hurry. I'll bet he somehow trades Lucic. I think if the GM is confident and aggressive in his dealings, it trickles down throughout the organization. Coaches then have confidence in their GM, who will most likely improve the roster, which translates to the players. The Oilers are going to become a confident bunch soon.

[Proposal] Horvat to Colorado
Nucker 67 replied to Schmautzie's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
It would be more like: to COL: Horvat and #10 to VAN - #4 -
What I find odd, is that Benning traded the Canucks best prospect for a lesser younger prospect. I wonder how aggressive he is when dealing with other GMs. Does he come off desperate and insecure? He's only acquired 2 extra 6ths for this draft. That's pretty pathetic really. He's had 2 years to plan for this big day. Hopefully he's got a deal up his sleeve to get more picks. And no more 6ths please.

Tradable assets? 2020 1st Goldobin Hutton Gaudette Prospects - DiPietro, Brisebois, Gadjovich, Lind, Lockwood, Madden Others that could go Sutter Eriksson Tanev Baertschi Not great, but surely Benning could pick up a couple more 2nds? Maybe even an extra 1st with the right package?
-
No kidding, I thought Benning would've been collecting picks for this Draft like a hoarder collects newspapers. He might still pull off some trades at the Draft I suppose, but I'm not expecting anything major. It almost sounds like they might want to keep Tanev, because he's worth more to the team playing 40 games than what they would get in a trade. This hanging onto guys is frustrating. Hopefully they can move Eriksson and Sutter too.

lol I've been flip-flopping for a while. One day I want Krebs, the next I want Broberg, and then I want Podkolzin, and then I don't because he's Russian, but what about Soderstrom? And then there's the mysterious Seider. And little Cole Caufield who will score 100 goals in his rookie season lol But it sure would be nice to add some grit and scoring on the wings, so maybe Zegras or Boldy? It's confusing. Canucks could use them all.

On paper the Canucks have pretty decent D depth But in reality, it's still pretty thin. Out of all our D, who is worthy of being in the Top 4 down the road? Hughes Juolevi Woo Guys like Sautner, Brisebois, McEneny, Teves, Rafferty etc. may never even become regulars in the NHL. And players like Stecher and Hutton are more or less bottom pairing D or 7/8 D IMO. Canucks need better D. Wingers can be acquired via trade, at a reasonable price. Top Dmen cost a fortune. Invest wisely Benning.

Quote from Benning in the paper today, saying "...all the teams that made it (to the playoffs), their defence is mobile. We have work to do". I wonder if they are targeting another mobile Dman with the 1st. Broberg, Soderstrom, York or Harley?
