  1. No way Horvat comes back to VAN. He made his decision and then so did management. Maybe Bo felt special, because he was in VAN the longest and the captain. Horvat might regret how he played this, but he gambled and these are the results. Moving on, let's get this sham of an all-star game over with so we can start watching Canucks hockey again.
  2. to VGK - (RW) Brock Boeser (20% retained) to VAN - (LD) Nic Hague and (RD) Kaeden Korczak
  3. I saw a video of Benson and holy heck, he's fast and skilled. I've still got to watch a lot more video of the prospects, but at least this year the Canucks have a chance to get 2 or 3 of them. What a boost to the prospect pool. And then seeing Bedard score that shootout goal. That skating is super elite, and the hands. I imagine Hughes and Bedard would put on a clinic of keep-away that ends in goals.
  4. Watching Bo being interviewed, he looks upset, gutted, and I wonder if he regrets his stance on the financial stuff. Or maybe he's pi**ed at his agent for steering him in this direction. It seems as if he really didn't expect VAN to trade him. Now having to uproot his family and move across the continent to play for another struggling team. Benning would've surely overpaid and re-signed Bo, but this isn't Benning world anymore.
  5. Love that the Canucks have two 1st rounders and I hope they use both to draft players, but JR/PA may also want to use the NYI 1st in a trade as well. Maybe they make a trade for a D partner for Hughes.
  6. It sounds like Pettersson and Hughes could be wearing an "A", part of the leadership group.

  7. Can you imagine if Horvat got injured against SEA or CBJ last week, and they missed the boat trading him at the TDL? Horvat walks for nothing after the season and signs with a rival. I'm sure Treliving would be salivating like a hungry dog in a butcher shop. I'm relieved that it's done. This trade worked out so smoothly and ahead of the TDL stress. I think Beauvillier will provide some offence and maybe improve the PK. Most excited about Raty and what this team is going to look like in 2-3 years. At the Draft they'll add at least two more 1st rounders to the prospect pool, and one of them might even be Bedard
  8. I think all of this Demko trade talk is due to JR saying Petey was the only untouchable. Media ran with that.
  9. a double juke, nice goal!
  10. Loosely translated: I thought they'd cave and pay me what I want.
  11. Agree, don't really need Lysell or Holtz as much as they need to rebuild that D. While they're at it, maybe they should try to nab another late 1st and draft (G) Michael Hrabal. Who knows how long Demko will be around.
  12. If Bedard isn't possible, it would be amazing to walk away from the 2023 Draft with Fantilli, Reinbacher and Dragicevic Pettersson Fantilli Raty ...as the one-two-three punch at C D in 5 years? Hughes - Reinbacher Pettersson - Dragicevic Jurmo - Johansson dreamin'
  13. Seems JR/PA targeted Raty, maybe for some time, knowing that if they traded Horvat, they would need a Top 6C for the near future. If they didn't bring back Raty or that type of good, young player, they'd be in a pickle with no backup plan after Horvat left. Raty now sets them up real good: Pettersson Bedard Raty
  14. I think Raty will also develop better in Abby than Bridgeport. He played with Simon Holmstrom and Sam Bolduc in Bridgeport, but in Abby he'll play with Podkolzin, Hoglander, Karlsson and Klimovich. And he'll be developed by the Sedins, Samuelsson and Komisarek. He could possibly join the team next season for some games, but I like that they aren't going to rush him. Benning would've rushed him to try and sell tickets.
  15. I like that the Canucks have 6 draft picks in the first 4 rounds this year. 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th More please.
  16. an extra 1st round pick in a deep Draft (likely mid), a fast 25-year old forward and a prospect who was once considered the #1 in the 2021 Draft I think that's a pretty good return for a veteran forward asking for a lot of money and term, and who has never won in VAN in his 9 years here.
  17. I heard BOS really wants Schenn, as does TB and several other teams I'm sure. I think the Canucks should re-sign Luke though. He's not expensive, fills an important RD spot and sticks up for his team. The ultimate team mate. So, who's the next CC member to leave? Boeser?
  18. Canucks may have just traded their nicest, most kind, gentle human on the team. This, after they let go the nicest, most kind, gentle human coach, maybe ever. So, now they can actually build a fast, physical, aggressive playoff team. Successful playoff teams need players who will do what it takes to win, a little bit of nasty and fight in them. I don't think Horvat fits this mold.
  19. Woke up again this morning, taking me a minute to realize that this trade actually happened. Mixed emotions, but mostly excitement that things are finally happening to this sad team. Maybe this management group is serious. They must be if they traded the longest tenured Canuck and captain. IMO, trading Demko could be a mistake. Who is supposed to tend the net? Martin is terrible and Delia is a 3rd string goalie. Losing every game for a high Draft pick won't help this young team, could do more damage. Unless, they trade Demko and there's another goalie coming back.
  20. Next season, maybe Kuzmenko - Pettersson (A) - Mikheyev Beauvillier - Miller (A) - ? Podkolzin - ? - Studnicka Joshua - Lazar - Lockwood Raty Hughes - ? OEL (A) - ? Dermott - Bear Stillman Demko ? after Boeser, Garland, Schenn, Myers, Rathbone and possibly Hoglander are traded. They might sign a UFA or two as well. Of course, putting Bedard or Fantilli in that #3C spot would sure be nice too.
