Should they just sit Bo Horvat until they trade him?
Nucker 67 replied to Canuckfanforlife82's topic in Canucks Talk
I think they'll re-sign Horvat. He'll agree to stick around after seeing the new coaches' strategies and the quality of the practices, the new direction. -
Seeing Miller interviewed after practice, he looks very engaged and up beat. I think he'll really benefit from this change. I get the feeling that the really competitive players (Miller, Petey, Hughes) were so down before with no structure. These guys are great players that want to win, and it's like Bruce never took that seriously enough. I'm excited to see what they can do with more focused coaching. Bruce played it beautifully, the emotions, the "aww" moments during interviews. The whole hockey world bought in. Taking the high road will serve him well with his next coaching gig.

I feel this is the actual start of this new regime. They took a long time to build the front office and they did make several decent trades. Bruce was the head coach behind the bench when they got here and he wasn't their choice. JR is trying to fix things in Vancouver and to build a winner. This Canucks team, for some reason, lacks structure and proper work habits. Bruce left it up to the players to figure it out. He just showed up every day with an encouraging smile and a pat on the back and let them play. Tocchet is going to be demanding, but don't we want that for our team? To see the effort every night, better defensive play, players playing with the right players and more grit. I would love to get Bedard, but that's not up to the Canucks, even if they finish last. They'll have a shot at it, but so will 15 other teams. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the games, and if the Canucks are competitive and start winning games, I can't be mad at that.

I do think Boeser has played a little more gritty this season, he seems to skate hard to retrieve pucks (still doesn't battle all that well though), but his offensive production has fallen off big time. I'm okay if Boeser doesn't score 30+ goals. If he can pot 25 and play a gritty, fast game, then I'd be happy with that. -

What kinds of players will they be targeting? Will they go after Fabian Lysell like some think? Does he play a gritty game? Or a guy like Newhook? Or are players like this on the smallish side for their liking? I heard Dhaliwal mention Carlo today. Would love for the Canucks to get bigger and tougher. -

Look at Foote, already beating up on Boeser Looks like he's going to ram the buttend of that stick into Brock's breadbasket -

Pretty sure this rainbow is a form of the prism they used on the album cover? I think it's kind of clever. -

I could see trades: Schenn and Boeser to _________ for a 2nd (2023) and 3rd (2024) Ekman-Larsson (10%) and Kuzmenko to ___________ for peanuts all about clearing cap, if possible As for Miller, it really could go either way with him. He'll either buy in or he won't, but there is time until his NTC kicks in with his new contract (July 1st?). They'll assess and make a decision with him. I think he'll buy in though. Miller wants to play here, he's super competitive and he wants to win. -

I agree, what about the possibility of Brandon Carlo, like he mentioned? -

This is wild. I wondered if they would go there, and maybe they will. I hope not, though, because he's the only real goalie they have.
