The media are scum and they're frothing at the mouth to pile on the Canucks. Yes, Rutherford opened his mouth when he shouldn't have. He'll learn how toxic the media is here and might say a lot less going forward.

I think Tocchet will utilize Miller better, conserving his energy for key parts of the game. We might see more production from JT. He probably won't be on the PK anymore either and I'm all good with that considering all of the giveaways leading to SH 2-on-1s and breakaways, Miller is usually too gassed to get back. Tocchet will manage his ice time better. Pettersson will probably get more responsibility and I can see him with the "A" (taken from OEL). Hughes might really benefit from Gonchar, who was also an offensive Dman. Foote was more of a defensive Dman when he played, and that will also benefit the D core. Canucks brought in some decent gritty players in Lazar, Joshua, Studnicka, Aman and Pederson, but they could be doing more, and I think Tocchet will tap into that. My hope is the Canucks become a more gritty, physical, disciplined team that can score. Time will tell.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
Nucker 67 replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Pettersson is a star and will be treated as such. Tocchet will push Pettersson to mature and take on more responsibility - which I think Pettersson wants. Time to stop babying Petey. Not sure Kuzmenko sticks around though, he might struggle with a demanding coach with new rules in how he wants them to play. Hope he does re-sign in VAN, but we'll see. -
Predict The Score Contest: VAN @ SEA January 25 2023

Is Martin starting? -
Media turned this into a thing. JR didn't handle it well either, he admitted that and apologized. I think the dust will eventually settle and the Canucks will be on their way in the retool. The TDL is coming up, they'll make some changes. Sick of the Canucks losing. The "fartgate" story on Odjick night was way more disrespectful and shameful IMO. And the Canucks lost.

Listened to the press conference. They were put in a tough situation, so it wasn't a perfect presser, but I liked what they had to say for the most part. Excited to see where they go from here. There aren't going to be any passengers on this team next season. Tocchet will expect more and that'll be great to see that effort, guys playing the right way, making better decisions. (hopefully)

I think Tocchet will have some favourites, forward players he likes how they play their game: (and assuming Horvat is traded) Miller - will get more out of him, cutback ice time Pettersson Kuzmenko - hopefully Kuz can adjust to the new "rules" Lazar - will get more out of him Studnicka Pederson Dries Lockwood - will get more out of him Have a feeling he may not feel these forwards are a part of the Canucks future: Boeser Garland Mikheyev Joshua

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
Nucker 67 replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That would be unfortunate, but I get that they can't pay him what he wants or deserves. I thought they might make one last run at a deal, which is why they haven't allowed Horvat's agent to talk with other teams. I guess there's some time before the TDL to sort that out. If they are planning to trade him though, I hope they do it sooner than later. Bo has to stay healthy. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

I wonder if they're going to somehow manage to re-sign Horvat. With Tocchet coming in before the TDL, he'll be helping to assess the current roster. He may feel a player like Boeser, for example, isn't a part of the plan moving forward, and trades will happen to open up some cap space. Canucks fans might not like the returns, but it'll be all about clearing cap. I think they'll also re-sign Kuzmenko. Next season: Kuzmenko - Pettersson - Miller Podkolzin - Horvat - Mikheyev Maybe the big changes will be with the D and goaltending. Martin won't be back IMO. -
As I'm scrolling through the hate, I'm trying to guess the ages of some. My guess is there are a lot of teenagers and 20-somethings here, judging by the immaturity and angst. It's getting a little silly. I miss the days when Canucks fans were united and cheered for the team, instead of name-calling and attacking people's character. The fanbase seems divided and I'm not digging it. I have faith that JR and his team (including Tocchet) will figure this out and make the Canucks competitive again. We'll see. We don't know what the future holds, but some are already expecting failure and misery. Sad. Go Canucks Go
