  1. I knew we had him in the system developing, but I had no idea he was making any kind of strides like this, for a 7th rounder. is he that good?
  2. Yes, the NYI 1st is irrelevant, as if it didn't exist. VAN basically traded Bo to NYI for Beauvillier and Raty. Then VAN traded a 2nd for Hronek and a 4th. Wow, great trade for a young Top 4 RD. VAN still has 6 picks in the first 4 rounds, including their 1st.
  3. Canucks have Demko back. Miller, Petey, Hughes, Kuzmenko and Podz all seem to have taken another step. They'll be getting Bear and Hronek back soon. Canucks will finish at #12-15 IMO. Do they select an average D ('cause there aren't any great Ds in this Draft - unless maybe Sandin-Pellikka, but he's going Top 10), or a future middle 6 forward? (cause that's what they'll probably get at 12-15) The Top 10 is very good, but after that, Boringville. I know with dreaming of Bedard or Fantilli for months and then ending up with a guy like Wood or Honzek, would be, for me, very underwhelming.
  4. I wonder as well, if OEL has another gear, or anymore life left in good hockey. He's been coached by Tocchet before though and this just might be the player he is. Will there be any improvement or more decline? Well, considering the sad state of the Canucks prospects, it would sure be nice to add another good young player down the road. Who knows what JR/PA will do though if VAN ends up picking 12-15.
  5. Would you rather: 1. Keep OEL for the next 4 seasons and draft Reinbacher (who could possibly join the team in 4-5 years) 2. Trade the 1st and OEL in a package (maybe adding Hoglander or Rathbone) = clean slate
  6. Lottery still has to happen. Then we can kiss the Bedard sweepstakes goodbye. Winning games happens. Heck even CHI is winning the odd game. Relax.
  7. How does a D that includes Juulsen, Wolanin, Brisebois and Burroughs, have a 3-game winning streak? Oh yeah, Demko is back and looking like Demko. The GAA has been much better lately. Silovs has also been really good when needed. So much better than Martin/Delia tandem. Can't wait to see Hronek in the blue and green, should really help. I hear Bear is close to returning as well, and with Hronek, they'll be replacing Juulsen and Burroughs. No idea what's happening with Dermott and OEL. Hughes - Bear Brisebois/OEL - Hronek Wolanin - Myers Maybe the Canucks also get Jake Livingstone?
  8. In a re-Draft, Petey and Hughes, and maybe even Kuzmenko, would be in the Top 5, maybe Top 3.
  9. Yes, it would take more, like maybe Hoglander and Rathbone. They're in a pickle and may have to do something drastic to get out of it. Hope I'm wrong, but lately management has been making moves to improve the team now (trading high picks) and they said they aren't interested in picks back (from trades). Reinbacher, for instance, would be a nice add, but he won't help the team for another 4-5 years. I think they want to try and win with Petey and Hughes, etc. as soon as possible (the core they have). That's tough to do with OEL's contract eating up so much salary, and the D isn't very good with him in the lineup. Major surgery.
  10. I wish Tocchet was the coach to start the season. Canucks would probably be in a battle for a playoff spot. The Ducks are a bad team this year and they played last night in SEA. No way they beat the Canucks tonight. Miller, Petey, Hughes, Kuzmenko and Demko have put an end to the losing and are now playing like their playoff lives depend on it. Competitive players try to win. As a Canucks fan, it's difficult to be upset about this. Sure they probably won't get Bedard if they win games, but they most likely never will anyway. Realistic. There are much worse teams that have a much better chance. If somehow VAN gets the #1, holy crap I'm buying a BEDARD jersey. But really, at this point I'm just hoping Bedard doesn't land with another Pacific team.
  11. JR/PA's recent comments about not wanting picks back, but good players in return (trades), tells me they are a lot more interested in building up this team fast and being competitive as early as next season. In order to bring in those good players in the off season the Canucks will need $. I wouldn't be surprised if VAN trades the 1st this year to a team willing to take OEL, but only if the lottery says they aren't moving into the Top 3. Trying not to get too attached to this 1st.
  12. I'm not a fan, but Jost will be a UFA and is under 25 (will be 25 next week). He's a C, selected at #10 in the 2016 Draft, and didn't live up to his hype, traded twice. Maybe a good reclamation project. And he's cheap.
  13. Thinking Tyson Jost I would like Raty to take on that role, but I'm not sure he'd be ready for that next season.
  14. Pettersson and Hughes are breaking records and they're still young. I think they may smash many more by the time they're done. This is why there's no rebuild. The Canucks want to surround these special players with great supporting players and win a Cup in VAN.
  15. It wasn't a very good team under Boudreau, and he wasn't the coach to improve them or take them to the next level. Tocchet and his coaches are now in, changes have been made. This team is a lot better than it was a few months ago. Typical Canucks though winning meaningless games down the stretch. What bugs me I suppose is: I understand the players play to win every game, so why did it look like they couldn't give a s*** to start the season? At least they played that way. I guess they're warmed up now. Well, it is promising to see Podkolzin take another step, Kravtsov is going to be good, Hronek will help the D. Petey is a superstar. Got to keep Kuzmenko. Hughes is phenomenal, etc.
  16. I hope Bo does well with NYI, he's a good person from what I gather. I'm excited about Hronek though, which really doesn't have anything to do with Bo Horvat. Any idea on when Hronek is able to join his new team? Another tweak or two to the D this off season and next year the Canucks are going to rock. The already good PP will become better, as both units will now have a skilled D skater who can dish the puck, or score. Hronek's shot too. How long has it been since the Canucks had a Dman with a big shot? Salo?
  17. Miller had an excellent game. As I was watching I kept thinking "See NYR, or CAR or ? - You blew it. JT Miller would've made a difference on your team and that's why you won't win the Cup this year" Demko was great as well. Two short-handed goals during the same penalty? I mean, c'mon. That's elite PK right there Tavares got flattened twice, Matthews went down blocking a shot, O'Reilly had to leave the game. VAN basically beat them up. Good luck in the playoffs TOR They looked like a playoff team last night, and that was without Hronek, Mikheyev and Bear (and OEL, Dermott, Pearson). Canucks building a winner under Tocchet.
  18. I would much prefer Schenn "accidentally" injure Matthews, maybe a mid-ice collision "No-Pants" doesn't see. BOOM! Panic in Leafland.
