  1. @J.R. that last guy looks like the poster boy for "my daddy will sue you". Also, why do adults have to have beards? I like being clean shaven.
  2. @RUPERTKBD I woul'dnt be shocked to see more than one of the three head to New York via free agency but I think you're right about Harper being the most likely. Based on prior comments he's made I think he'll go to the highest bidder and that short porch will be tempting. When he hits free agency in 2019 he'll have just turned 27 should have at least 200 HR's under his belt. That gives him a solid 8 years of baseball in NY, where I think he could easily average 30 HR's per year- probably more considering he hit 42 last year in Washington. He's nowhere near his prime yet. I think he could even hit the 600 HR mark if he were to play the rest of his career in Yankee Stadium.
  3. Well he was the 39th president of the United States of America, of course.
  4. ^^^yeah, it was funny seeing the sudden wave of Jays hats and memorabilia around Vancouver around July/August last year. Lots of fans and I bet a lot of them couldn't tell you who Shannon Stewart is, or the relevance of that Zaun guy on tv.
  5. The Yanks adding one of Machado, Harper, or Trout to their existing crop of young talent is a terrifying thought.
  6. It's tough to say...certain players seem to be carrying on business as usual (Tulo and Martin) while others have disappeared or gone cold (Donaldson, Saunders, some pitching, etc). I think it's more to do with each individual's psyche. Tulo and Martin are actually playing better than they were 3 months ago while others are faltering.
  7. I'm still optimistic they'll make playoffs but it certainly doesn't seem like a guarantee anymore. I find it funny that they've gone on this slide since sportsnet magazine wrote about the "epic turnaround" of Toronto's various teams.
  8. Even the fleeting moments of happiness they've brought me lately have quickly been vanquished. Like Ortiz's home run the other day.
  9. When I say flush I mean totally saturated. Like if you're Philadelphia picking at 5th this past June, and you see Juolevi and Tkachuk as being fairly equal- maybe then you start to consider Tkachuk.
  10. I see what he said in his last post but I still think you take a D (in this case, Juolevi) unless the winger (in this case, Tkachuk) is head and shoulders the better prospect.
  11. I was beginning to worry about you Rupe, having not seen you around in so long.
  12. @nzan The only way we should've taken Tkachuk is if we were flush with high-end D prospects and severely lacking in wingers or if Tkachuk was clearly the better player, none of which is the case. Quality young d-men are the greatest currency in the NHL and if at some point down the road we have a log-jam on D with a hole on the wings, we can easily trade a D for a forward- probably one of great value.
  13. On a scale of 1 to fully torqued, how does this movie trailer make you feel?

I was kinda hoping they woulda made a move on the piper alpha. It will be interesting to see how accurate the Hollywood version of the events is.

      I wouldn't expect much accuracy

Case in point, this movie has Kate Hudson

  14. I kind of agree with Saunders' recent struggles but it's a chance to get another left-handed bat in the lineup. I like the pitching matchup for the Jays.
  15. FWIW, Edmonton currently has Brossoit, a potentially elite goalie.
  16. What a year he's having. The 1-2 punch of him and kershaw could be deadly if kershaw gets back on track.
  17. I hate the oilers as much as the next guy but McDaddy is unbelievable.
  18. Michael Jordan was an incredible athlete and he couldn't cut it. I just don't think Tebow has the bat speed to hit st the pro level. Like I said though, he could be a valuable locker room presence in the minors.
  19. He's into is late 20's now though. The soonest I could see him being major league ready is at least five years from now, and that might be a stretch considering most prospects take more than that- and they're starting from a better point than Tebow is. He hit a pretty big bomb, 400 something feet, in his showcase but he also got jammed in BP- twice. I thought his hands looked slow and his swing was very choppy. Not many guys can really alter their swing plane once they're into their 20's, especially late 20's like him. I'll be shocked if he ever makes it as a solid AA/AAA player, let alone major leaguer. He could make for a good locker room presence and role model for youngsters though.
