  1. That's fair enough, I just think there's two different schools of thought on the issue and you and I happen to be on different sides of the fence- at least as far as the current editiob of the Canucks is concerned.
  2. To each their own I guess but I'm not sure the Canucks are in a position to take that sort of risk right now. Even if he has an outstanding freshman year it's far from a guarantee he'll ever be a legitimate 1C at the NHL level.
  3. I don't think the Canucks are really in a position to do that though. If they had a more stocked prospect cupboard or more "disposable income" in terms of roster players to deal, then yeah maybe take that risk. Right now the prospect cupboard is good, but not great, and Tanev is arguably the greatest trade chip on the roster. If you're going to move him it has to be something that you can almost guarantee will help the organization, preferably now and in the future.
  4. value wise, yeah the deal might make sense if he has a great freshman year. My issue is the potential for the trade to blow up in your face. Let's say the Canucks trade Tanev straight across for Jost- what happens if Jost becomes a 3C in the NHL or worst yet, doesn't cut it in the NHL period?
  5. No chance I'd trade tanev for a totally unproven prospect at this point, even if he does have a great freshman year.
  6. Yeah, I don't get why Goins couldn't finish the game. Doesn't make sense to me.
  7. That one play he made a couple years ago still makes my jaw drop every time. The one where he picked up the ball on his backhand right on the foul line, about 10-15 feet behind the base, then made the jump throw to get the guy at first in one fluid motion. And he was like 20-21 when he did that.
  8. Hopefully they start jumping on some pitches earlier in the count then, don't let the ump take the bats out of their hands. I'm not watching, been at the cottage for a little more than a week and don't get sportsnet here.
  9. Miley has 6 K's already? and when you consider he had an awful start and spent some time on the DL, Tulo is actually having himself a pretty productive year. 70+ RBI's for a guy not expected to be a driver is pretty darn good.
  10. Ah right. I figured I must've been wrong as the move doesn't make a ton of sense if that were the case.
  11. Isn't Navarro ineligible for the playoffs since he was acquired after August 1?
  12. A couple years ago I was on the 319 bus (a busy one) in delta during rush hour so it was pretty full. A very pregnant woman got on with another younger child in a stroller. The priority seats at the front were occupied by two guys who looked to be in their late 20's and a group of teenagers- not one of which offered the woman her seat. When the bus had to brake hard the pregnant woman fell over and only then did somebody offer their seat to her. That's the kind of situation where nobody should need to be prompted to offer their seat.

  14. He still had 6 RBI's in 6 games and slashed 250/423/550 for an OPS of 973- not bad. It definitely wasn't as great as what he'd done in the ALDS/ALCS but it's not terrible and he was the playoff MVP nonetheless.
  15. No the Jays game would've been official since the Jays had their 5 at bats. I believe.
  16. Wouldn't that be something after so many Jays fans were up in arms over the signing lol
  17. Funny how that works huh? If you'd told me that this matchup favoured the Jays a few years ago I would've laughed at you. Sabathia was a force in his time.
  18. Anybody remember when Happ vs Sabathia sounded like a crap deal for the Jays?
  19. There's gotta be better options than Carrera. If JB and Pillar were healthy I'd hope he'd never see the field. He a good start to the year, it was a nice "feel good" story of sorts, but he's come back to earth in the worst way.
