  1. I don't think they'd be dumb to bring him back but I see no place for him right now, especially if he can't hit like he was last year. Bautista will probably DH more and more now, meaning EE slides to first and Smoak to the bench. I imagine JB still plays some outfield but I can't see him playing there much. What about JB at first? He was a pretty decent third baseman, I imagine he could play first as well. This allows EE to DH a bit.
  2. CC has options left so they can bury him in AAA for the year if they'd like.
  3. It's mostly HD. Quality over quantity.
  4. Like boners in pools or boners when I see pools? Cause I get both. The latter is the weirdest confliction of my life.
  5. I'm actually fine in groups, mostly cause I'm too ashamed to let my friends know about my fear lol. The only time I've really been in waters where there was a chance of seeing s shark was on the North Shore of Oahu when I was 13. We were just there to check it out (I sure as hell don't surf) and a surfer was sitting on the tail end of his board when a great white bit odd the nose end. This was just a kilometre or two down the beach from where I was. It was some scary stuff. I want to go travelling next fall (aside: is there a thread on travelling? I was thinking about making one) and spend some time in Australia (soooo cliche) and other parts of the Southern Hemisphere so I'm going to need to nut up a bit if I ever want to go in the water down there. I've got some tips on shark safety from Aussie friends I played baseball with so I'll have to employ those. what kind of sharks can you see in Oregon? Some day I want to spend time in a shark cage/tank.
  6. Yeah I know, it's totally irrational and illogical but I can't help it. Inexplicably I'm actually better in oceans that I can see through the water than I am in lakes. All I hear when I'm in the water is the music from Jaws, which I saw at like age 5 and I believe to be the cause of my problem.
  7. Confession: I'm deathly terrified of water- not because I'm a bad swimmer (I'm actually pretty decent), but because I'm absolutely s**t scared of sharks. I still can't go in swimming pools by myself and I'll be 23 next month.
  8. You gotta expand your spank bank TS
  9. I missed the derby- just saw the highlights- so I can't really comment but I do like your darkhorse pick. I was hoping Seager would do well. He and his brothers are all such good ball players. It seemed like a foregone conclusion Stanton would win though, he's just not human. http://m.mlb.com/statcast/leaderboard#exit-velo,r,2016 (he hit a ground ball DP almost 124 MPH, can you imagine being the infielder who picked that one up?) http://m.mlb.com/statcast/leaderboard#hr-distance He hit that one nearly HR 462 feet, just under 117 MPH off the bat, and pretty much on a line with a launch angle of 23.5 degrees and a height of 89 feet.
  10. I remember that about Oden. He was on the cover of SLAM magazine in high school and they raved about him. They called him "the last great back-to-the-basket big man". i didn't know that about the draft class, hadn't looked at it really. The nba is kind of weird with what seems to be a high prevalence of high picks that bust. What about Steven Adams or Oladipo? Even Olynyk? Those are decent players. I see Bennett has some interest from the Nets too.
  11. Yeah as much as it sucked to watch Doc go, I was happy to see him pitch in Philly who was one of the best teams in baseball at the time and just won a WS a year or two prior. That rotation they assembled of him, Hamels, Cliff Lee, and Roy Oswalt was amazing. I just wish they could've gotten something more concrete in the deal, like a semi-proven young player (though to be fair I can't think of any from that Phillies roster- they were almost all prime-aged guys). Some teams strike gold in package deals like the Indians did for Bartolo Colon (they got Cliff Lee, Grady Sizemore, and Brandon Phillips out of Montreal) while other teams strike out. The Jays struck out.
  12. AA did a lot of good things for the organization, especially towards the end of his tenure, but the Dickey and Halladay trades still bother me. They got pretty much nothing for one of the best pitchers in baseball- arguably the best. Drabek and d'Arnaud were good prospects but Drabek went nowhere and d'Arnaud was flipped in the package with Thor for Dickey.
  13. Wasn't his mostly due to injury though? I was pretty young but I remember him being fairly effective the odd time he was healthy-ish at the start of his career.
  14. You'd think Cleveland would want to figure that sort of stuff out before using a first overall pick on the guy though. I can't recall a first overall pick falling out as fast and hard as he did- maybe in any sport.
  15. From his Wiki page Bennett's love for the game was questioned during his tenure in Toronto, and the organization grew increasingly frustrated with his inability to grasp the cut-throat world of the NBA despite their attempts to work with him.[36]
