  1. I think he may have been mocking himself. If that's the case then kudos to him lol
  2. It's always possible he has a Tyler Myers-esque plateau but yeah, as much as I love Virtanen and Horvat there's not a whole lot I wouldn't have traded last summer for Ekblad. He looked phenomenal for a teenage rookie d-man this past year. edit: He looked pretty dam good for just about anybody actually, let alone a teenage rookie.
  3. I believe I've seen posters on here saying JB has taken trips to watch the Blazers and Cougars, possibly other teams in the interior as well. I guess to date he has ignored talent at home, seeing as he didn't draft any last year, but I'm optimistic he'll change that down the road.
  4. Their record in one-run games is unacceptable for a team with playoff ambitions.
  5. I absolutely agree with you. Geographically we have a big advantage to scout a great number of WHL teams and I'd like to see them use that. I'm gonna wait another draft, maybe two, before I say JB is failing to do that though. Looking at what seems to be his idea of how to build a team I feel like it'll include a lot of WHL players, given the way the WHL game is played. Glad to clear the air here.
  6. Read my post and you'll see that I said you did not single out Benning, but did include him in your criticism of the management's failure to draft WHL'ers. The "please follow along" comments are definitely patronizing and condescending, and again I don't appreciate the comments at the end of your post. Bottom line here- we're agreeing on the failure of the organization to draft WHL'ers, but I'm saying I'd like to reserve judgement on JB in that regard. Reread your posts and you'll see that you did, in fact, group Benning in with that group.
  7. You did not single out Benning but you did criticize. I'm just as pissed as everybody else on here that guys like Weber, Keith, Lucic, Gallagher, Benn, etc have been passed on (especially since none of those I named are first rounders) but I'm hoping that's corrected going forward. JB reportedly spent a lot of time personally scouting the WHL so I'm thinking it might be. Cut the condescending tone and reread what you said before you patronize me.
  8. Ah okay, this makes sense. I find your posts to be well-informed so I was surprised by this but the air is now cleared lol
  9. ^^ Houston has the most wins and 2nd best record in the AL. Tied for 2nd most wins in all of baseball.
  10. Heard that. He's definitely got some offensive skills. I can't say I've watched him quite close enough to comment on his skating and d/neutral zone play but I do like him.
  11. I understand the previous regimes overlooked the Rockets, and it pisses me off as much as the next guy, but the point of my post was: why the hell are you harping on JB for not taking a Rocket last year? He's had one draft, and in that draft only 2 Kelowna players were taken. If we had taken either of them rather than the guy he had in the respective rounds a lot of CDC'ers would've been pissed. Would you rather he had taken Kirkland 36th instead of Demko? Hell no, and that would've been a huge reach anyway. Let's see what he does in the next draft or two before you start saying he's a moron for overlooking the Rockets. He did not overlook any Rockets, there just wasn't really an opportunity to logically take one. I don't think he was picked last year? http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2014e.html I like Baillie too. I'd like to see JB try him out with a later pick, but as a 2nd year draft eligible guy I'd hope there's better options available in an early-ish round like the 3rd. I don't see him being the late bloomer type like Tryamkin.
  12. Far as I know there was 2 Rockets players drafted last year. Justin Kirkland in the 3rd round (62nd) and Rourke Chartier in the 5th (149th). Kirkland went 26 spots after Demko, I'm happy with the Demko pick. Chartier went 23 spots after Forsling and, again, I'm happy with the Forsling pick and the trade for Clendening. So when do you think JB should've taken a Rocket?
  13. ^^ sweet jesus that's fun to watch.
  14. What's all this "x amount of time" crap about in everybody's statuses?

  15. Not drawing a comparison here, but "Perimeter Patty" Kane definitely isn't an in-your-face player and he seems to do okay in the playoffs. His PPG actually improves in the playoffs. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=96554
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Corrado waiver exempt while Clendening isn't? That should play a huge part in which one makes the team...Clendening is practically guaranteed. That being said, it's possible Corrado makes it as well.
  17. Eventually it becomes tough to celebrate mediocrity. Ask Leafs fans.
  18. I'd vent my own frustrations but you guys have already covered it haha. There's just so many glaring deficiencies with this team and it starts with AA and Gibby. If they wanna make the playoffs in Sanchez's career they need to start an overhaul fairly soon. It just pisses me off how they'd kinda done that before and established a great farm system only to throw it away in horrible trades. Almost as if AA just ran out if patience (maybe upper management pressured him?) but those deals set the team back bad.
  19. Wasn't he the fastest skater at last year's combine both forwards and backwards?
  20. I feel ya. Went a few months away from the gym for personal and family reasons and ended up back at square 1 pretty much. If I'd eaten better (and more importantly, more) while on my hiatus I probably would be better off but oh well. Never had a great bench to begin with but it's pretty brutal now, and my squat and deadlift, which were quite strong, are now pretty dam average. I don't know about you but I do find it's coming back fairly fast (I've been back at it for like 2-3 weeks now). Some people have commented on muscle gain so I'll take that as a plus. It's just so hard to get going again, I haven't taken time off the gym since I started working out so this has been a struggle. Lots of long sleeves to cover up the skinny arms lol
  21. I'd pass on Papelbon and probably Hamels too. Both guys are well past their best days. If AA is gonna ship off either Bautista or EE I'd like to see it be for younger arms.
  22. I'd agree with you there. I'm not sure of the actual numbers but it seems to me that the team BA doesn't improve as greatly with the 2nd and 3rd times through the lineup as much as the league averages. I'm a North Delta native, I played for the same high school team as him, and I've met him and he's a tremendously nice guy, but his career is done. It was a nice thought and there's not really anybody I'd like to see succeed more than him, but his career is done. Those two at bats yesterday were pretty bad, even Rasmus absolutely tagged him. And with two strikes I believe...
  23. Catcher is? That's unfortunate. Nicknames in sports are so unimaginative these days.
  24. I'm not homophobic or anything but I can only imagine the chirps he'd hear on the ice for a nickname like rhat
