  1. I'm thinking he meant our players instantly become the property of this farm team. Sorta like how soccer teams sign players young and bring them through their system all the way up.
  2. Is this not a Sven Baertschi thread? Am I mistaken?
  3. Clearly you haven't seen ComptonCanuck much before. That was almost clever, though.
  4. That's far too lofty for ComptonCanuck's critical eye lol I'm just glad he's taken a break from all of his "scouting tapes" to enlighten the rest of us here at CDC with his unparalleled knowledge and player evaluations.
  5. You're back! Who's your player comp for Virtanen? David Booth comes to mind.
  6. Again, hands refers to a much wider array of things than you're admitting. IMO it's simply what the player can do with the puck on his stick, not exclusive to stickhandling. That includes the ability to finish in close which some players are definitely better at than others, generally players considered to have better hands.
  7. How about when you hear analysts, gm's, etc talk about a player's hands in close? I don't think they're referring to his ability to dangle in front of the net.
  8. The term "hands" doesn't lend itself exclusively to stick handling, though that definitely is a key part of it. In terms of jake, where his hands really shine is his ability to release a hard shot with a very quick release.
  9. Even Pastrnak...he's sublimely gifted offensively but I prefer jake's heavy game. IMO the list of things jake brings to the table that pastrnak doesn't is longer than the list of things pastrnak does that jake doesn't. Speaking of heavy, at least we didn't take Ritchie.
  10. I don't know about all of those players bumping jake. Larkin has had a great draft+1 year but other than that it's still to soon to pass judgement IMO. Jake's jr numbers aren't what many posters had hoped for from him this year but I don't think his projected ceiling is any different than it was last June. We still have a tantalizing prospect on our hands here. Not saying guys like Nylander aren't great talents but I still like the pick.
  11. watching all the comments in response to the "80%"...maybe I'm wrong, but is that not very obviously a joke?
  12. Jamie McLennan absolutely lost it when we picked him, said he has all those intangibles and that certain "je ne sais quoi" and that Thatcher reminded him a lot of Carey Price in the way he carried himself. And he wasn't the only analyst to point out that Demko just seems to have that x-factor of an elite goalie.
  13. Judging off some of your posts/threads I'd rather not.
  14. I can't find a source on either. I seem to remember hearing it as markstrom. Anybody able to find a link?
  15. Yeah he still has to clear waivers to go down even at the start of the year. But as hatedkid said, apparently markstrom plans to go back to Europe if he doesn't have an nhl job next year.
  16. The kid is busier watching "scouting tapes" than a thirteen year old with a brazzers account.
  17. @Dasein Valid point with the Sedins. It did work for the first half of the year but we all know what happened after.
  18. Kinda what I figured. Kamloops is rebuilding after some good years. Just last year they were the second worst team in the league.
  19. It's tough when there's so much delicious Indian food readily available around you in Surrey.
  20. Hahah I have to admit, I laughed at this and felt a tinge of guilt inside. Most of us could have our asses mistaken for chimneys.
  21. Dammit I didn't read that as his points per 60. I read that as point production. My bad.
