In my opinion, if your diet and sleep regimen are good then you really don’t need anything more than a multivitamin, some creative, and a bit of protein. Things like ZMA or glutamine have been sort of fad supplements in the past but petered out. Beta alanine is one I’ve tried that actually does seem to help a bit but isn’t really necessary unless you’re doing this competitively (bodybuilder or what have you) or one of those hardcore biohacker types who like to tinker with this stuff.
I’ve been lifting for like 12 years now I guess and tried quite a few supplements in that time, especially early on. I still use the ones I mentioned above because they’re truly supplements to the basics, filling the gaps a little. Ultimately, none of it really matters if your diet and sleep aren’t good enough.
