  1. I hope he spends the rest of the season in the minors and maybe goes to Arizona in the fall. He needs it. I'm excited to see Hagen Danner too.
  2. Bad read by Springer on the Chapman single. Should've scored on that one. I thought that looked like a base hit all the way.
  3. You'd think having eyes set so close together would help you with hitting, no?
  4. Just drafted him last year so I think they have until summer 2025 to sign him IIRC?
  5. Springer got hosed on that 1-1 call in the second inning and then 4 pitches later on the same pitch in the same count, Jansen takes it for a ball.
  6. Is anybody here involved with the trades? I'm wait-listed for a program at BCIT but can get into the same program at VIU much sooner and I was wondering if anybody knew much about the two schools.

      Are you an apprentice?

@naslund.is.king Not yet. That’s one of the questions I had re: VIU vs BCIT

Find a company willing to apprentice you then worry about school.

If you're in bc from my understanding that should be pretty simple

You picked a great trade btw

  7. I could be off on the total number of minutes played together. I'm thinking it was the 2020-21 season but I'm not totally sure, might be off by a year. I remember seeing the stat on twitter but I'm having trouble finding it now. I see in the 2020-21 season Marchand was on for 6 SHG's and 7 PPGA's so that's why I think it might've been that year. I just can't find the numbers for that particular duo.
  8. If they sold pies, can you imagine the mayhem that would've ensued a couple weeks back there when they should've won the game on a rouge but the returner didn't know the rule?
  9. I can't remember exactly which year it was (probably like 3 seasons ago now?) but Bergeron and Marchand played like 80-something minutes together at 5v4 that year. They outscored their opponents like 5-0 in that time. One of the more impressive stats I've seen in recent years.
  10. I can't say I blame the fans for doing what they gotta do to get into it. I swear there was more people out in the smoke pit than there was actually watching the game. Then again, an Elks game is probably an emotional letdown after watching their kids' u-9 soccer game earlier in the day.
  11. I went to an Elks game in Edmonton back in 2021. At one point midway through the third quarter, a guy in my section stood up and offered shrooms to the rest of the section (which was like 12 people). He took a bit for himself then tossed the bag to somebody a few rows back. The section cheered and security didn't even seem to notice, or at least didn't do anything.
  12. Garcia also did a terrible job executing the pitch but who the hell called for an 0-2 change-up? So dumb.
  13. He’s talking about how amazed he is at the money he got, isn’t he? Which makes sense seeing as he’d only cracked 60 points once at that point in his career if my memory’s correct. The Avs took a bit of a risk in signing that deal. At the time it was signed, many people talked about Mackinnon maybe being a “RNH type of first overall pick”. He was not the superstar he is today. For whatever it’s worth I remember thinking the Avs were overpaying and taking a big risk when they signed him to that contract.
  14. The number that stuck out to me when I looked up Cabrera’s stats was the walk totals. Those numbers are not pretty. That said, we’ve had some luck turning around LHP’s in the past (Happ, Ray, etc) so maybe this works out.
  15. Buehrle was another one I liked watching before he fell off at the end there.
  16. The Yankees, Mets, and Padres are the three teams and they're spending a combined $875 million on their rosters this year. Of those three teams the Yankees have the best chance at making the postseason but even they're 3.5 games out of the WC.
  17. I'm no MLB talent evaluator but I just don't see Varsho ever being more than a bottom-of-the-lineup hitter. He's got a bit of pop but too many holes in his swing. Not a very dynamic hitter.
  18. The allegations against Cole came from a Twitter account that was created the previous day and had made no other posts. Police and the NHL tried to locate the person behind the account but nobody ever came forward. The allegations in the Tweet also used a timeline that didn't make much sense- Cole wasn't playing in STL during the time period the accuser mentioned. Occams razor tells me it was likely a hoax.
  19. But they'd be the odds-on favorite to win the AL Central. The AL East is a real mofo this year.
  20. It's a summer league in Minnesota full mostly of Minnesota-native players in various pro leagues and the NCAA. It's basically shinny.
  21. Wasn’t she a bartender while she was in college? Seems she did the right thing by taking a part-time job to help pay for her studies rather than a student loan, as we saw with the recent Supreme Court ruling on student loan forgiveness. I’m not sure why her being a bartender would be a criticism?
