  1. Sure but he has 1 year left to his deal. Do they really want Dadonov for another season? Also they would then need to find another way to clear the cap space to activate Poolman who is expected to return at some point.
  2. They can because their regular roster is well below their authorised salary cap of 81.2M - has nothing to do with LTIR cap space. CapFriendly shows their cap hit today at 84M. They have 7.9M worth of players on LTIR. It means that their regular roster is at some 76M when they can operate at 81.2M. Vancouver doesn't get the full 81.5M because they weren't able to maximise their LTIR relief and lost 300K from the get go - ie their roster (outside of LTIR contracts) can never be more than 81.2M.
  3. Kucherov had a torn labrum in his hip. It's an injury/surgery that quite a few players have had. The recovery time is listed at 5 to 6 months. That same season Pastrnak took 4.5 months after being announced at 5 months, Seguin took 6 months. Tampa was aided that it was a shortened season. Tampa didn't even expect him back that early.
  4. They are not allowed to and will be forced to clear cap space. They'll have to find a team willing to take Dadonov or trade someone they don't want to trade.
  5. No idea but Friedman confirmed that there is valid trace and all the paperwork has been filed correctly. They played last night and Dadonov is listed as part of the Vegas roster as a scratch: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreports/20212022/RO021011.HTM
  6. But it doesn't solve anything. To activate their players off LTIR they need to create real cap space. They could add 100M in LTIR contracts and it wouldn't solve their issue. CapFriendly did the math - that's the amount of cap space they need to clear by moving a contract or demoting players.
  7. Taking back an LTIR contract does nothing for them. That LTIR contract also counts against the cap and doesn't create cap space.
  8. The thing is that teams are significantly better off if they can avoid LTIR. Vegas that bubble season deliberately started the season a few millions under the cap because they wanted to bank as much cap space as possible - it allowed them to add some 12M in contracts at the TDL per Granger and that was with salary retention so in true value significantly more. Can't bank cap space in LTIR. If you go to CapFriendly you can easily see that teams in LTIR are losing cap space - Vancouver is now losing over 5M in daily cap space each day because they are in LTIR and can't bank it. Their end of season cap space is zero which is the reason why they'll have a bonus overage. They also weren't able to maximise their relief and are forced to operate with a maximum cap hit of 81.2M instead of 81.5M.
  9. Just like Vancouver did the bubble season. It was the only way they could afford Toffoli. Everyone was then back healthy for the bubble save for Leivo - even Ferland returned.
  10. Landeskog is not on LTIR but on IR. This whole thread is based off a false claim.
  11. Vegas would obviously prefer not being forced to take back an LTIR contract - it's a real limitation and costs cap space but that was part of the cost for Anaheim to accept to take on Dadonov. Ferland is a negative for Vegas, just as Kesler was in the initial deal.
  12. Not just a winning streak - teams ahead need to lose games too otherwise there would be no change to the standings.
  13. A player traded after the TDL can no longer play for the rest of the season, not just the playoffs. The deal to Anaheim was filed before the deadline but they are on his no-trade list.
  14. He signed that contract with Ottawa who were amidst a rebuild. Might be a location thing. Granger wonders if it might be taxation with California particularly high.
  15. He still has 1 year left on his deal so it's probably more important for him to land with a team he approves.
  16. Arizona might be on his no trade list. Ownership there is probably not going to voluntarily add cap/salary when they are set to continue to lose money for the foreseeable future. Whichever team is willing to help out should ask for a haul. Could also force them to trade someone else instead.
  17. Not just for the playoffs - players traded after the deadline can no longer play for the remainder of the season. Ferland counts against the cap - there’s no cap space created by taking on an LTIR contract.
