  1. The league investigates all LTIR cases. Landeskog is not even on LTIR but on IR per CapFriendly.
  2. No they won't - there's also no reason for it. Ownership has tried for years to change the recapture rules but to no avail. They decided to go the buyout route instead of risking an early retirement in case of a trade, which would have a triggered a recapture penalty + they would have had to take cap back in a trade. The mandate is to build a perennial elite contender - it doesn't sound like they plan on rushing things and it's probably why they felt they could weather those cap problems for the next 3 years. They've been in a rebuild/re-tool mindset under Guerin and he's again assured that he is not all that interested in trading high draft picks or prospects they've worked hard to acquire.
  3. Not with the little cap space they have. It would prevent them from getting someone like Giroux who can also fill in at C. Don't really see Boeser as a plug&play on any line type player either - just doesn't make any sense to me if he ends up outside of their top-6. Landeskog is expected back at some point. It's not like Colorado has trouble scoring either so what would he help them with - not physical play and he doesn't really drive his own line either.
  4. Don't you think contenders are going to target players that are actually having a good season - if their aim is to win now why would they go after someone who hasn't been all that good this season.
  5. Creates cap space + Sturm might also be a better fit. Bednar a few weeks ago on their bottom-6:
  6. The Wild are not taking back Boeser - wouldn't be a fit on their team + they don't have that kind of cap space with 13-15M on their books for Parise/Suter the coming 3 seasons.
  7. Sturm was a 4C and a healthy scratch a handful of times for the Wild. He's an upcoming UFA and was unlikely to be extended given their upcoming cap crunch.
  8. McBain gave the Wild a list of teams he would agree to sign with. He was initially willing to sign with them but then changed his mind as he felt they were too crowded down the middle. Would guess that Vancouver is not on his list with Miller, Pettersson, Horvat at C. Russo tweeted back to some fans wondering if the Wild were willing to burn a year: "yeah, wild were willing to play him. but if you think the wild should promise a college kid who scored 18 goals in his first 3 years that he should play between kirill and zuccy or fiala and boldy or on the greef line instead of ek, you're kidding yourself"
  9. Don't really see Motte taking less than Dickinson's 2.65M. Dickinson was also a RFA where prices are typically lower than for a UFA.
  10. A top-40 pick for a bottom-6 forward is quite the ask - they are apparently leaning towards keeping him as their own rental.
  11. Minnesota is not taking back cap with the buyouts for Parise/Suter. They can't even sign their own players. They need those cheap ELC players. Guerin also held out on the Zucker trade till Rutherford added Addison to the deal - he's not going to trade him now that he is close to NHL ready and they are in a cap mess. They are looking for a 2nd round pick for McBain - both Marek and Russo reported it.
  12. Has 0.5 game of NHL experience - came in relief mid-way through the game against Arizona last Thursday.
  13. Why do you want to front load his deal? Makes it less efficient to buy the contract out in case of a steep decline or are you thinking more of a trade scenario when he starts to slow down. In a front loaded deal the highest year can't be more than twice the lowest.
  14. They are at home for the next week with a back-to-back this Saturday (CGY) / Sunday (BUF). They might decide to bring up Martin - probably need to have him practice with the team a bit.
  15. To get an 8 year deal the player has to be on the team's roster at the latest TDL.
  16. Joe Rexode who covers Nashville says if they do anything it will be cheap. Poile announced a rebuild in the summer to get younger/faster but later categorised it as a re-tool (he was going to extend Ekholm) but still insisted on drafting and getting younger. I know your argument about Poile not getting younger but I don't see him damaging the future of Nashville for his own ambition. He's also got a lifelong job there and it's his son that looks to be ear-marked to take over as GM. All the reasons you give for not extending Miller are all the reasons why Nashville can't do it.
  17. Why would Colorado want Boeser though? So they can have the headache of his 7.5M qualifying offer? They are 1 of the 3 highest scoring teams in the league and it's not like he's bringing physical play for the post-season and his EV production has been rather underwhelming. They are also built off speed with Bedard insisting how skating is now such an essential component of the game.
  18. Beat writer Peter Bauch says his intel is that Colorado isn't interested in moving Byram or Newhook.
  19. He'll likely become a so-called group 6 UFA this summer. Any player who is 25 and has been under contract for at least 3 seasons and has less than 80 NHL games becomes a UFA - happened with Rodin, Kenins, Grenier etc. He turns 25 this April and has 55 NHL games.
  20. Friedman probably just talked to his agent - he is represented by Allan Walsh.
  21. It's Vancouver that is pursuing a deal with Pittsburgh - they have Marino as a target. Friedman doesn't think there's a deal to be made - Pittsburgh considers Marino a very good player. I am speculating that the only player that would make them consider parting with Marino is Miller, so it's hard to see how a deal would work out for both teams.
  22. So they can't really do anything this TDL unless it's a cap-in / cap-out type trade. The extra cap space they currently have will all go towards activating him off LTIR.
  23. Zucker is on LTIR but has a 5.5M cap hit. Is his injury season ending? Friedman doesn't think there's a deal to be made - Marino is a target for Vancouver but he doesn't think they can pull off the trade. Wouldn't surprise me if Pittsburgh is only interested in Miller from the Canucks. Garland hasn't made much of an impact of the scoresheet and neither has Boeser - not exactly the pieces a contender in win-now mode would necessarily want to add. Miller on the other hand could make a real impact with the way he is playing.
