  1. The executive who made that quote says that he wouldn't trade him at this TDL. Ahead of the TDL, LeBrun has interviews up in The Athletic with several GMs. As part of his interview with Allvin he also asked some executives to weigh in on what they should do. That one executive believed he should be traded but not now. He thinks they need to prepare the market for a re-tweak so that it won't be a surprise if he is traded at next year's TDL. Says he would try and trade Garland as he's overpaid but wouldn't trade Miller or Boeser now and would wait. Another one thinks they should do all they can to sign him because he is young enough to be part of a retool/rebuild and if they can't he still thinks he will have considerable value in the summer. Another executive also recommends that they do all they can to sign him because it's tough to find top-end centres. His advice is to involve the Sedins because Miller is a pretty emotional guy and if he gets the support from the Sedins and Allvin that might convince him to re-sign.
  2. Vancouver liking a player doesn't equate to him being available. Friedman on HNIC doesn't believe a trade will happen. Says Vancouver are looking for young Ds and Marino is someone they like, but the Penguins consider him a very good player. Says it's been difficult to find a match. He's a target for Vancouver but he's not convinced it's going to happen.
  3. The Wild are asking for a 2nd round pick for McBain per Russo and other insiders. The Wild aren't looking to change their active roster per Guerin, who made it also very clear that he is not in the slightest interested in giving up futures or prospects that they've worked hard to acquire. Boeser would also be an ill-fit in Minnesota - doesn't have the skating speed and he's not a play driver. Guerin also mocked the idea of targeting local players and even complained about players wanting to be in Minnesota for personal reasons over hockey reasons.
  4. which resulted in only matching roughing penalties for Dumba/Raymond and Greenway/Nedeljkovic + Talbot got the extra penalty for leaving his crease with Evason being told that the Wild got the extra penalty because they started it.
  5. It was rookie Lucas Raymond. He was back on the ice for the 3rd period (- the melee was at the end of the 2nd period).
  6. Konecny is apparently available - can't remember which insider mentioned that some time ago already. He could be in a change of scenery type trade. They want to change things up a bit. They traded for Ellis to play with Provorov but he got injured 4 games into the season. Would expect him to be back next season and that should help stabilise their top pairing. They are expected to trade Giroux this TDL - haven't seen anything for next season but could see a situation where he re-signs in the off-season.
  7. A few weeks ago Dave Scott (CEO of the group that owns the Flyers) made it perfectly clear that they don't see them going into a rebuild and believe they can right the ship sooner. Fletcher was given a vote of confidence.
  8. Sounds like their preference is to extend him. Allvin in his interview with LeBrun for The Athletic: "He’s playing the way you want your best player to play. So, he’s hopefully a guy that we can continue to have here in Vancouver. But we haven’t gone down that path yet obviously with his camp and with J.T. — it’s something we’ll get into this summer."
  9. Boudreau can't stop praising Miller - again tonight: "He's taking over as the catalyst and the leader. That's wonderful to see because you need it at this point in the season." (Sportsnet650 on twitter). Trading him is going to leave quite the void also in the room. There's been a few comments by media that they are also looking to change the culture. Could make them even more reluctant to trade Miller if they don't feel there's someone that can step in for him. Satiar Shah a couple of months ago was saying that he hadn't realised how important Miller was in the room. Players have been telling him that it's Miller that kept the group together when things were grim earlier in the season. Culture is also important in trying to build a contender. Not everything is always going to go their way and they need guys that can help them also get through the rough patches. He might have a too valuable role there. I wouldn't be surprised if their preferred approach is to try and sign him - might not be possible but would expect extension talks to happen before going the trade route.
  10. Anaheim are likely sellers at the deadline. Verbeek made it clear that he can't afford to lose Manson, Lindholm and Rakell for nothing. He's trying to extend Lindholm but he doesn't want to give out too much term. Seravalli reported that Lehner is playing with a torn labrum in his shoulder which will require surgery at some point.
  11. Brad Meier and linesman Vaughan Rody are retiring at the end of the season.
  12. Don't see NJD giving up Sharangovich for Boeser - beats the purpose of trading for Boeser as it just creates another hole in their top-6. Sharangovich has even been more productive than Boeser at EV while Boeser is getting a large chunk of his points on the PP. Very similar production overall this season. After their 5-3 win over Colorado, Lindy Ruff is praising the team for out-skating them all game. I find surprising that Boeser is of interest when NJD is so much about skating speed.
  13. Their GM just said that they aren't interested in trading Severson unless it's an offer they really can't refuse. Doubt they would consider that to be one. Boeser has a 7.5M qualifying offer and Dickinson is a cap dump.
  14. Can't demote him to the AHL because of his NMC - makes it more challenging to bring up Martin to evaluate whether he could be a reasonable backup option for next season.
  15. Have a hard time seeing Boeser worth a 5th overall - would you really trade Podkolzin+Höglander for Boeser if he was on another team.
  16. That was an ownership issue where they felt he was promoting his own brand over Montreal's. Nashville on the other hand had their team meet with his marketing crew to work togerher. Both brands collaborated for various charitable projects with proceeds split between their foundation and PKs. Bergevin/Therrien had an issue with how he played which didn't fit their system. They wanted the Ds to get the puck up as quickly as possible to the Fs even if meant dumping the puck while PK wanted to carry the puck in. System wise each were better fits on their new team.
  17. He's not eligible to sign a contract with performance bonuses. Has to be 35+ and on a 1-year deal. He'll turn 33 in May.
  18. LTIR doesn't create cap space and actually costs cap space. If you go to CapFriendly on the very 1st page you can see all the teams in LTIR. Montreal is top of the list with nearly 8.5M in cap space. Every day that they don't use that 8.5M they forfeit it. The column just before shows that their end of season cap space is equal to zero - teams in LTIR can't bank cap space. That's why there are bonus overages - there's no cap space set aside to cover them. If they weren't in LTIR - ie didn't have the contracts of Weber or Price they would be setting that cap space aside for future use. In LTIR they lose it.
