Nashville for sure can get at least a 1st round pick for Forsberg. Can't see them making a trade for less than that when Poile wants to build their prospect pool. Don't see Boeser having all that much trade value with his QO. Poile a few years back said nothing in his mind is more valuable than footspeed - not really Boeser. Would think that trading for Forsberg would be the best way to alienate him, with Vancouver in tough to make the post-season, while he would want to either stay in Nashville or go to another contender.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
mll replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Didn't cover variability in my answer - wasn't necessary as in a front loaded deal the lowest salary can't be less than half of the highest. From the CBA: Additionally, under no circumstances may the stated Player Salary and Bonuses in any League Year of a Front-Loaded SPC be less than fifty (50) percent of the highest stated Player Salary and Bonuses in a League Year of that same Front-Loaded SPC. -

The structure of the deal that you are proposing is not possible. In a front loaded deal the lowest salary can't be less than 50% of the highest. There is no such thing as recapture penalties on contracts signed since 2013 regardless of the age of the player. There are only 4 active recapture contracts left - Quick, Crosby, Carter and Keith. As for age 35 contract - it's only if the player is already 35 when his contract starts. Also they no longer automatically stay on the books - depends on the structure of the contract. They've changed that rule in the CBA MOU. -

Zibanejad was drafted the same year as Miller and will be starting an 8.5M x 8 year contract next season. -

Barkov has a full NMC and already signed an 80M extension starting next season - there's obviously no chance that he would get traded. -

Gorton initiated the rebuild in NYR. Molson when he relieved Bergevin said he wasn't afraid of a rebuild and thinks the fans would accept one. It's not like they wouldn't be allowed to do a rebuild. Hughes doesn't believe in a tear-down rebuild like in Arizona - he's said a few times. If they don't want to give up assets to improve their team (they are looking to add draft picks and prospects) they need to be active in free agency. -

They apparently aren't even ready to trade him. Reading the MacIntyre article it sounds like Allvin's preference is to extend him . -
Should also look at players who have been drafted but will become free agents on 15 August. That's how Rutherford got Marino - was drafted by Edmonton but wasn't going to sign with them so they gave up a 6th to acquire his rights. Arizona just traded the rights to Callahan to the Bruins for a 7th round pick. Chicago got Kubalik from LA for a 5th round pick - the Swiss LNA has no NHL agreement so his rights belonged to LA indefinitely but he was not willing to sign with them.

[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
mll replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
LeBrun was just guest on Russo's podcast and they were talking about how they built relationships across the league. Russo regularly gets asked for input on players from other GMs. They talk of how they would just go out for beers with them and that's how they started building a relationship and growing their address book. It's not unusual for them to go out for meals or a beer with those GMs or share a cab. GMs are also looking for input on what's going on around the league or on players and how they are off the ice and often there's a friendship that develops. They've been in the business for so long and have gained their trust. If you listen to Russo's podcast he's always telling stories of interaction with the different GMs or coaches and even got a call once from Sakic in the middle of a live podcast. -

Similar production but Danault got all his points but 1 at EV. Danault gets lobbied for the Selke while the analytics community seems to question Horvat's D-game. -

Why would they need Horvat? They signed Danault. -

Nashville are still trying to extend him somewhere between 8M and 9M - ie more than Duchene/Johansen but less than Josi. -

Ekholm is a LD as well as Josi. If they trade Forsberg it's a pretty clear signal that they don't think they can make a run. Doesn't make much sense to add a veteran D who is just going to limit the progression of the youngsters Josi and Ekholm are mentoring. A few years ago Poile said that in his mind nothing is more important than skating speed - if he still feels that strongly then Boeser is unlikely to interest them. Poile announced that they were rebuilding/transitioning to get younger this summer. He traded Arvidsson for draft picks. Seems rather likely that they'll want at least a 1st to be included in the package for Forsberg. -

Forsberg is looking for upwards of 8M - maybe even as high as 9M per Nashville media. Myers would be a cap dump to Nashville - their top-4 has long been set. They are probably looking at least for a 1st round pick. -

Doesn't make his shooting percentage sustainable. Over the past 3 seasons (min 100 games) and min 40 goals (ie excluding guys who barely shoot) there is no one that has a shooting percentage that even reaches 20%. Only 13 players have shot on average at 17% or more. He's a great goal scorer and can score in so many different ways but he's probably not someone that should be expected to hit 40-50 every season. Hitting minimum 30 regularly seems reasonable though. -
[Rumour] Canucks interested in Pavel Zacha
mll replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Rutherford says that he tries to make fair deals because otherwise you won't be making many deals. Garland cost 9th overall but Vancouver got to dump cap as part of that deal - ie Garland alone was not worth 9th overall. His production dropped in Vancouver. As well as asking for a higher pick (NJD have a top-5 pick currently), this deal dumps cap on them + asks for a player who teams have been calling them on (- Zacha has trade value). -
Guerin just extended Greenway - he raves about that GREEF line. He's been pretty bad away from that line - there's a real risk he won't have the same success with other players. Guerin was just on KFAN where he confirmed that he is not at all interested in trading Fiala at the deadline. Doesn't even sound like he wants to trade high draft picks or prospects. Talks of how he likes the team. Dreger thinks they might just add a depth player.

Could just be like the Ekholm rumours where Poile always said the priority was to extend him and did. -

His shooting percentage is 23.2%. That doesn't feel sustainable. He has 2 seasons where he scored over 30 goals and was shooting 13% then. -
The Wild aren't trading Addison with 13-15M in dead cap for the coming 3 seasons. They don't have the cap for Boeser and he's not really a fit either.

Different situation here - it's not broken bones but a risk to his brain and it would be seriously irresponsible to rush him back. Muzzin has a history of concussions and was just coming back from one, when his head hit the ice on a collision.
