  1. They are most certainly getting a 1st for Forsberg. Last off-season he traded Arvidsson for draft picks - they are looking to re-stock and get younger. A few years ago Poile said that to him nothing is more valuable than footspeed so if he still thinks that Boeser is likely not a target.
  2. Pagnotta of the 4th period said earlier this week on NHL Network that the Canucks are exploring his trade value.
  3. Russo again assured that there's absolutely no chance that the Wild trade Fiala this season. The chemistry with Boldy is too good. Russo had an article up today where he says that he's being inundated by tweets from Wild fans worried that they won't be able to extend Fiala. He simulated the cap situation and his gut feeling is that they won't be able to make it work. He actually forgot to account for the performance bonuses so it's even uglier than he projects. There are apparently quite a few teams interested in Fiala and in all likelihood he'll be traded for futures because they can't take cap back.
  4. Arizona are very unlikely to be interested in Boeser. If Chychrun doesn't fit their timeline then neither does Boeser who is older and has only 2 years left to UFA. He has a 7.5M qualifying offer and it's probably unlikely that he would want to commit long term to Arizona. Armstrong told LeBrun that they want tear it all down and draft so they are likely looking primarily for futures in that trade.
  5. Teams with LTIR players with no chance of recovery will likely try and off-load those contracts on them to avoid going into LTIR and losing cap space. BriseBois probably already trying to offer them the Seabrook contract.
  6. There's no reason for it to be. He hasn't earned that kind of contract yet. Would expect a far more reasonable deal if he wants to stay. Boeser's agent knows that Vancouver wants to create cap room and will be traded if they feel his ask is unreasonable.
  7. Doesn't really make sense for the Wild and it's not realistic cap wise. Their dead cap following the Parise/Suter buyouts increase by 8M to reach 13M next season and will stay on the books for another 2 seasons after that at 15M. There's definitely no spot or cap space for Dickinson. If they had the cap space they would just retain Fiala. He has a lower qualifying offer and has been the more productive player while so often getting the short shrift in terms of linemates. His C all season has been journeyman Gaudreau (was a 13th F for Pittsburgh last season). They've finally got him a talented linemate this January in Boldy and their chemistry has been something else. Guerin was asked and mocked the idea of going after local players. He even complained about a country club atmosphere when he took over where he felt some players wanted to be in Minnesota for family reasons over hockey reasons. Russo adds that ownership couldn't care less and isn't even from Minnesota. Their fan favourites have been from all over the world.
  8. The Wild are really unlikely to be interested in Boeser though. They will have to create space in the off-season because their dead cap is going to increase by 8M to reach 13M. Boeser is also not the best fit with how they want to play and how they are set up.
  9. No. Addison is ear-marked as Dumba's replacement which could be as early as next season with how ugly their cap looks going forward. There's also no real fit for Höglander. When Guerin took over, the 1st trade call was from Rutherford asking for Zucker. Guerin waited out until Rutherford agreed to also add Addison in the deal.
  10. Kind of wonder if Arizona is not going to run into a similar issue for non-college players too. Could maybe some CHL players decide it's better to re-enter the draft in 2 years than sign with them.
  11. Doesn't feel likely that they would move either. Ellis played only 4 games. Just by getting him back next season will change things. They acquired him to play with Provorov. They also have 5x UFAs Ds so things will change without them having to move their only 2 roster Ds under contract (3 with Ellis).
  12. Spread through all the rounds, not ranked 1 to 40 as drafted. It was Brian Lawton that gave 40 as a rough indication of the length of a team's draft board. Himself when he was GM had a bit of a longer list but some teams also have a shorter list. The Wild had 39 players on their board last year - it's spread through all the rounds and they've combined picks to get the players they wanted while other teams decided to move back.
  13. Of course not. Most 1st rounders will be ranked by any team but as the rounds go by players won't necessarily get interest from all the teams. The player that ends up being picked 50th might have been on the draft board of say a dozen teams and the player picked 51st on the draft board of 12 completely different teams. So if you are trying to trade the player picked 50th to a team that never had him on their draft board they might not bite. Once players start to establish themselves at the NHL level then it's different but Klimovich was only picked last year.
  14. Not sure Rathbone or Klimovich would be viewed that highly by Arizona. In a draft, teams typically have a draft board of only around 40 players - they don't rank every prospect but only the ones that they are interested in. A player picked in the 2nd round might have absolutely no value to another team because they didn't believe he had an NHL future and eliminated him from their board.
  15. I wouldn't even be all that surprised if their roster is full of LTIR contracts (covered by insurance) to help them reach the floor and players on near league minimum deals just to ice a team. I don't think they want to spend more than they have to.
  16. Here's Hansen's take. Says Horvat drives play himself but he's not someone that's going to help his wingers become 30 goal scorers. Doesn't need a pure shooter like Boeser. Thinks that Tanner Pearson, Dickinson, Garland or Höglander are good options. Says he wouldn't take high quality wingers away from other Cs to play them with Horvat.
  17. Arizona is in a tear down rebuild. Sounds like their strategy is to tank for a few years. Could see Tampa trying to off-load the Seabrook contract on them and probably even willing to give up a pick. BriseBois explained how detrimental it is to have an LTIR contract on the books when he traded Callahan's 5.8M LTIR contract - he can't be happy to have been forced to take Seabrook back but was the cost to move Johnson.
  18. NYR are apparently interested in Chychrun - they can put that package together themselves if all it takes is to add Rathbone and DiPietro.
  19. The ask per Marek is 1st round pick + top end prospect + young roster player. Could be a 4th piece like a 2nd round pick based on the quality of the prospect. Dickinson feels like a cap dump so he would increase the cost. There's a reason why Friedman has long said that he doesn't think Vancouver can make the deal.
  20. They might get a deal done before they even have to qualify him or they might trade him. If they haven't and want to have some control, they might prefer to file instead of him filing or signing his QO. They would still have time till the hearing to agree on a deal.
  21. Was responding to a post talking of team elected arbitration which would allow them to by-pass qualifying him. If that's the road they decide to go, Boeser gets to chose between a 1 year or a 2 year deal. I find more likely he'd chose 1 year rather than 2. The HBK line had Bonino who was quite slow between 2 fast skaters - that line was still fast. Boeser is smart so his speed should be less of an issue on a team with a lot of faster skaters. It doesn't always feel like everyone is quite on the same wave length so it also affects team speed. Chemistry allows to anticipate plays and know where to be before the puck is even there. Minnesota had a lot of slow skaters but they were still a fast team. With the Wild, Boudreau once said (via Russo on twitter): "Tape to tape passes create speed and if you can pass tape to tape, it has the illusion that you’re skating a lot faster bc I’ve never seen a guy skate faster than a puck".
