The TDL is 2 months from now - 21 March. Just too early. Teams typically wait to see where their group is at before making a move. There's the pandemic and injuries can derail a season. Sellers also try and create a bidding war to increase the return. It's closer to the TDL that teams start and make moves. -

Would cost them assets to move his contract. Teams try and avoid LTIR contracts because it costs cap space, creates bonus overages and limits roster flexibility. -

There’s apparently quite a bit of interest - some teams staying completely clear but he still had options. There’s a pending NHL investigation where he risks a suspension. Teams are waiting for that to be resolved before signing him. It’s believed a resolution will come later this week and if cleared he would sign with Edmonton. -

Those numbers include shootouts. If you go to the NHL website and take the GF and add the shootout wins you'll get the numbers you posted. http://www.nhl.com/stats/teams Or if you add up all the goals under the player stats - it's 98 because shootout goals don't count. -

They are 28th in 5v5 goals for with 61 over the season. Slight improvement under Boudreau where they are 25th in goals for per game at 5v5 since he took over (from 5 Dec to today). There's a reason Boudreau says a puck mover is at the top of his wish list and highlights how the best teams get production out of their Ds where they are good at both ends of the ice. There's also the Demko impact. Over the year 2021 he has saved Vancouver 40 goals above expected per CSA - that's about 2 goals every 3 games or 0.66 per game. Put an average goalie in net and those goals against numbers would probably not be as impressive. -

Halak and Chiasson for Edmonton's 2022-1st (Proposal)
mll replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Holland was pretty adamant that the 1st is off the table. He pretty much answered that it would be stupid for him to trade draft picks or prospects for rentals and that he wasn't at all interested in doing so. He says the answer is in the room. Tippett not happy with their compete and will. Making a trade is not going to fix that fundamental issue. -
[Report] Canucks fire Travis Green, name Bruce Boudreau as head coach

It was the same top-4 D that got swept by Columbus and then won it all the next season in the bubble. Hedman, McDonagh, Cernak and Sergachev were their most played Ds both playoffs. They had added Shattenkirk - not really a crease clearing D over Girardi and traded for Bogosian. Schenn played 11 of 25 games. They made changes up front with the addition of Maroon, and then Goodrow and Coleman at the TDL. CBJ neutralised their speed and didn't allow them to get through the neutral zone. Adding forecheckers and adjusting their puck management gave them more versatility. Tampa does have a heavy D-corps but they can skate. MacLellan and Armstrong both cited having a mobile D-corps as one of their 5 key reasons they finally won a Cup. -

A bit more - somewhere between 13.1M and 13.6M with 8Fs + 7Ds + 1G under contract. Guessing that 10M number comes from CapFriendly. Ferland, Keeper and Hamonic are on LTIR but they aren't accounted as such for next season - they are treated as IR cap hits. Dowling is also accounted for as non-roster. Dowling and Keeper probably don't make the team and combine for 1.5M so that space would cover Halak's potential 1.5M bonus. Still need to find some cap to cover for the bonuses for Podkolzin/Höglander but they are unlikely to reach their full targets. Don't really see them getting much more than 200-300K. Ferland will go on LTIR which gives about 3.5M in additional space (was 3.2M this season because they couldn't maximise the relief). -

Nashville are also in a transition to get younger. Poile announced that they were in a rebuild last summer - calls it a competitive rebuild / transition where he still wants them to compete but recognises that they need to get younger and wants to re-stock their prospect pool. He traded Arvidsson for 2x 2nd round picks as part of that transition. -

Friedman concurs with Dhaliwal, who already said last week that it's unlikely he would waive. -
Once he is qualified he can sign his QO - Laine did. He didn't have the best of seasons so instead of negotiating a deal he just signed his 1-year qualifying offer. The only way to by-pass the qualifying process is to agree on a deal beforehand or take him to arbitration or Boeser letting the q.o. lapse. Team elected arbitration buys some time to negotiate a contract but if they go through the process he can decide if he wants a 1-year or a 2-year deal and the award can't be less than 85% of his last salary or 6.375M.
-
That's an option too - he agrees on an extension before the trade. Don't see Nashville being interested though and certainly not at the cost of Jeannot who they think is just getting started - he's also still a rookie.
-
He sees skating speed as an important aspect of a player's skill set - a player can be skilled and skate fast. Think it is for a team trading for him. They have no guarantee they can reach an agreement unless an extension is agreed before the trade.
-
Can't seem to get in the lineup. Don't see Nashville being interested in Poolman or Hamonic. A Myers buyout gives them additional cap space because of how his contract is structured so don't really see why they would take cap back when a buyout is more advantageous for next season. Poile has often gone the buyout route too.
