  1. Don't really see anything that makes it valid for him to travel. The header "Lifting short trip pre-arrival test exemption" is a reversal of policy where they are re-instating testing even for trips of less than 72 hours. "As another layer of precaution, we will reinstate the requirement for a pre-arrival negative PCR test result for all travellers leaving the country for less than 72 hours. As of December 21, the requirement for pre-arrival testing will be in place again for trips of all durations. It is important to note that this pre-arrival test MUST be taken in a country other than Canada." The government of Canada website is likely up to date given the continuous flow of incoming travellers, and the results of the questionnaire posted suggests that he was not eligible to enter by public flight after testing positive less than 15 days ago. He was apparently symptomatic when entering protocol.
  2. Still 15 days to travel into Canada by public flight after testing positive. From the government of Canada website: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/citizen There are 3 questions with the 2nd question being: "Do you have symptoms of COVID-19 or have you received a positive test result within the last 15 days". He was put in protocol on the 22nd so the answer is "yes". This is what the site returned: You indicated that you are: a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, a person registered under the Indian Act or a protected person showing signs or symptoms consistent with COVID-19 entering by air You will not be able to board a public flight to come to Canada until: 15 days have passed or you present a medical certificate confirming that your symptoms are not related to COVID-19 When you are able to enter, you will need to follow testing and quarantine requirements to keep Canadians safe, particularly given the new COVID-19 variants in Canada and around the world.
  3. Can't imagine Eichel wanting to be sidelined any longer and they'll also want him to get into game shape. Looking at CapFriendly, to activate Eichel they need to find 4.3M in cap space. Pacioretty is currently on IR and they could move him to LTIR - he is out indefinitely after wrist surgery at the end of December. Should buy them some time to figure things out and who/if they need to trade at the TDL.
  4. Seravalli has a copy of Bill Daly's memo and writes: https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/evander-kane-could-face-nhl-discipline-for-alleged-covid-protocol-violations/ It stands to reason, then, that if Kane is found to have again violated COVID-19 protocols as alleged, that a second and subsequently more harsh suspension could be meted out by commissioner Gary Bettman for further violation of protocols. Kane reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 on Dec. 21 while playing with the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda. He then allegedly flew to his hometown of Vancouver, B.C., on Dec. 29 without proper medical clearance. If those allegations are established as fact, it is also possible that Kane could face a criminal investigation for giving false testimony and violating the Canadian federal Quarantine Act. According to the Government of Canada, no person who tested positive for COVID-19 is permitted to board a “public flight” until “15 days have passed.” The Sharks alleged that Kane traveled eight days after his positive test, in violation with federal law. Kane must have attested to his compliance with the law using the Canadian Border Service Agency’s “ArriveCAN” mobile phone application when entering into Canada by air. In addition, Kane may have also been in violation with U.S. law, if he attested in a similar manner with an airline prior to boarding a flight originating on American soil. Failure to comply with the Canadian federal Quarantine Act “may result in fines, imprisonment or both,” including six months in prison and/or $750,000 CAD in fines. It is unclear at the moment whether or not either federal government will pursue investigation into Kane’s travel. Potential criminal implications aside, if Kane were subjected to further NHL discipline that could include a lengthy suspension, that alone may be enough to scuttle an imminent return to the ice. From the Bill Daly memo: Please be aware that while the League does not intend to pursue or independently take action with respect to the specific contractual breaches that have been alleged by the Sharks in support of its contract termination, the League has initiated an independent investigation into the circumstances pursuant to which Mr. Kane travelled cross-border during the Holiday Period, and whether such travel was conducted in accordance with applicable law in both the U.S. and Canada. While we do not anticipate that this investigation should be lengthy in duration, the timing of its completion will in large part be a function of the level of cooperation we receive from Mr. Kane and his contract representative, as well as whether the facts may compel a disciplinary hearing before the Commissioner.
  5. Boudreau has a mobile D on his wish list: "Look at all the good teams in the NHL - take the top 10 - their defense are all mobile and they can rack up points and create offense from the defense. Of course we would like more of that. But sometimes we just don't have the personnel for that kind of play. So when you don't do that, you better shut other teams down. When you're looking at things you'd like, another mobile, puck moving always comes to the top of my list."
  6. Russo had a few tweets answering questions on why the Wild waived Rem Pitlick. They felt he couldn’t or wouldn’t adjust to playing the type of bottom-6 role they wanted from him and Connor Dewar passed him by#mnwild coach Dean Evason today: "Sometimes you gotta get out of your comfort zone in order to have success certainly at this level. We'd love to but we can't have 20 Kirill Kaprizovs, right? You have to have a mix. When you're putting your lineup together, you look at it and you want to have fits. Connor Dewar's played extremely well since coming up. Rem's played well in spurts for us as well, so I don't want to take that away from him. He's competed. He's tried. It's just a situation where we're going to go in another direction. Russo added: "They wanted him coached and to send him a wake up call, which is why they planned to send him to Iowa and not taxi squad." As for why they claimed Pitlick in the 1st place Russo answered: "Bought them 3 months for guys like Boldy, Dewar, Beckman and Rossi to get games in Iowa. Now two are up and, at least now, they want Boldy and Dewar on the main roster"
  7. The NHL is backing them up. If they felt it was something far too minor why agree with SJS that they have grounds to terminate. When he used that fake vaccine card and got suspended for it the contract wasn't cancelled so why now.
  8. The NHL announced the changes on the 29th - the same day he allegedly travelled to Vancouver. Players in protocol probably wouldn't have been cleared just yet. Kurz and Masisak say it's unclear whether he actually made into Vancouver.
  9. 46% shooting percentage - 6 goals on 13 shots in 20 games. Not a sustainable conversion rate and not a lot of shots. Has struggled to stay in the lineup as of late but got a reprieve with injuries. 4 of his last 5 games were under 8 minutes with 2 at less than 6 minutes. There was also the comment by Evason mid-December saying that they had a great meeting and he knows what the coaches want, which suggests he isn't doing what they expect of him. Feels a bit like a Donato situation where his production was decent (14 goals) but didn't bring enough to be on the contender they are looking to build. He's not a defensive specialist or someone that's going to make it hard on opponents by being in their face so if he doesn't generate offence then he's not really making life hard on opponents. Not the best fit with how the lines are constructed either and it sounds like they want to give a real shot at Boldy - played 2 solid games since being called up.
  10. Not cap related. Players on IR or in Covid-protocol still count against the cap so they didn't have to waive him to activate Greenway.
  11. I know but would he get much better support in Edmonton.
  12. Halak won only 1 game for the Canucks and has played in 8.
  13. Wilson is not with the team - he's on medical leave.
  14. Kevin Kurz wrote this summer: "Several key players informed team brass that if Kane was going to be a part of the Sharks going forward, they didn’t want to be. That’s how bad it got, and how complicated this situation has become." Wilson did confirm that players had complained about Kane. Kane was cleared from the allegations that emerged this summer but the comments by these NHL agents about his effect in the room are still relevant. “He plays with a chip on his shoulder, but that carries into the dressing room and the outside world,” one agent, who, speaking on the condition his name not be used, told THN.com in reference to Kane. “He never does any favors to himself when he lets his ego rule the day, and he does that most days.” “One of my clients on the Sharks just hates him, hates the negative energy he brings into the room,” another agent, also claiming anonymity, told THN.com. (...) Some guys think that they’re bigger than the team, and I guess that helps drive (Kane) on a personal basis, but in the team construct, it doesn’t play well at all.”
  15. Was a joking moment between the two per the photographer - that picture has so often been taken out of context.
  16. No smoke according to Dhaliwal who doesn't understand why it's even a talking point. Says Halak has a full NMC and there's no indication at all that he is willing to waive - he asked for a no move for a reason. Also cites the compressed schedule ahead to explain why it makes no sense.
  17. Armstrong talks of a scorched earth rebuild - says they want to be great and the only way to do it is through the draft. They have also told teams that they are willing to leverage their cap space for futures. Hard to see a deal going down between both teams.
