He actually said: "Not a bad idea to stay down and get a whistle too, by the way. I am not questioning his integrity here or his injury." Not sure the play would have been stopped if he didn't stay lying down. Sometimes the refs don't interrupt the play - eg Boeser having to crawl back to the bench while injured a few years back.

(Discussion) How could we entice Seattle to take Eriksson?
mll replied to Gator's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Vegas got players that had good numbers but were playing lower in the lineup given who were ahead of them - Karlsson, Haula obvious examples. Haula C4 in Minnesota and Karlsson C3/C4 in Columbus became C1/C2 for Vegas. MacEwen does not have that kind of upside. Seattle is also analytics driven - even used analytics to help in their GM selection. MacEwen doesn't fare particularly well. -
It would have been if the Panthers paid Luongo outside of the normal pay scale for the job he took. Benning said they asked the league to verify. That's not quite what happened. It was Luongo's decision to retire. Once he decided to retire they probably encouraged him to retire rather than go on LTIR, but the initial decision to stop playing was his - or at least that's how it was communicated. https://www.nhl.com/news/roberto-luongo-about-to-tell-florida-panthers-his-plan/c-307917824 "It's totally up to Roberto," Florida general manager Dale Tallon said Thursday. "We've talked a couple of times. The decision is solely up to him. Whatever is best for him and his family. We're going to go along with whatever he decides he wants to do."

No he didn't. He matched up against Eriksson Ek - the Wild's shutdown C. He played only 40 seconds against Staal. It's Pettersson and Beagle that played their top line.

It is though. It's paying draft picks to another team to get out of his contract. The team could face a fine of up to 5M that counts against the cap and the loss of draft picks.

Staal plays with Greenway. Before the break Getzlaf went to fight him and ended up on the ice. Greenway did not have a hit last night per the game stats. He is a beast when he plays physical but does not do it consistently - not sure they should poke the bear if he's playing tame. The Wild lines under Evason are very balanced - defensive forward, size and scoring on all lines. Evason says he doesn't really worry about line matchups, for him it's more important to get their D-pairings against who they want. The Wild lines/pairings are the same as at the end of the regular season. Green had ample time to game plan. Will be interesting to see if he adjusts or just considers this game a warmup game.

From 1 November onwards the Wild were the 2nd highest scoring team in the league in goals for per game. They were the 3rd lowest in October. Even over the full season they were the 6th highest scoring team at 5v5. Canucks are 17th at 5v5. October is not reflective of their team. They had several issues to work through before they could start doing anything and their younger players had to progress. Fiala for example was a healthy scratch a few times in October and only had 1 assist in 8 games. He's now leading their team in scoring and is turning into the game breaker Fenton described. Their team changed a lot over this season. Same players (save Zucker/Galchenyuk) but roles and responsibilities/usage is very different from the first half of the season. Even their PP is different. I would think that Green put more emphasis on the 2nd half.
