  1. Probably not making more trades. Guerin was very clear that he is not interested in making a trade to make a trade.
  2. Apparently not. Boudreau is in the last year of his deal so he was probably not going to be extended but weird timing.
  3. After a difficult October Fiala has better production with far lesser linemates and opportunities than Boeser since 1 November. He's had a slower start to his career but is starting to look like the game breaker Fenton described. Dumba was coming back from season ending pectoral surgery and it's taken time to get back up to speed. He is looking far more like his old self these last games. Stecher wouldn't be able to crack the Wild's D-corps. As you say moot point. Benning is not trading Boeser and the Wild aren't going to use one of their best trade chips to get a winger when they desperately need a C1 or at least a C2.
  4. Boeser would have trouble succeeding in Minnesota. They have no playmaking Cs to set him up. It doesn't make sense to add him with how their team is set up for now.
  5. An in person hearing gives them the option to suspend him for 6 games or more. Phone hearings are limited to 5.
  6. LTIR doesn't really allow to bank cap space so it creates bonus overages that then count against next season's cap. Not ideal with Pettersson/Hughes still on their ELCs next season.
  7. The Wild are not looking to move Dumba unless per Friedman: "I don’t get the sense he’s inclined to do anything with either [Dumba or Brodin], unless it involves an elite centre, or maybe a No. 2 centre, providing that includes something extra — like a couple of first-rounders or something along those lines."
  8. Per CapFriendly there is no cap space to add, unless they can trade a player out or the injuries are season ending and they can continue to use LTIR. With LTIR in use the Canucks have 30'474.- in end of season cap space before bonuses - it's been stuck at that amount ever since Ferland went on LTIR. With all the recalls and Motte, Leivo on IR rather than LTIR, they have only 215K in cap space and need to create some 3.5M to activate Ferland. Ferland's 3.5M LTIR = Graovac 700K + MacEwen 995'833 + Bailey 700K + Brisebois 888'333 + 215'834 still available They can't demote all to activate him given the injuries so would also need to move some IR players to LTIR. Leivo 1.5M + Graovac 700K + Motte 975K = 3.175M
  9. Dreger on Insider Trading reports that the asking price for Dumba is a C1 or otherwise a C2 with an add. Friedman in his 31 thoughts talks of an elite C1 or a C2 with a couple of 1st round picks. Guerin isn't looking to move Dumba unless in a Jones for Johansen type deal. The Wild have plenty of wingers and have no playmaking Cs in sight. Their top-6 wings are full and their bottom-6 is solid as well as their D-corps. Boeser's production would drop in Minnesota - they have no one to set him up. It's wasting Dumba's trade value to bring in a scoring winger when they can't make full use of his ability. Stecher is of no use to Minnesota - he wouldn't crack their top-4 (even without Dumba) and doesn't have the offence or intimidating factor to be a 3rd pairing D on their team. The Wild are the best defensive team in the league - they are the best at limiting quality chances against. It's goaltending letting them down. Kahkonen was drafted the same year as Demko and has been very solid when recalled - he might be ready next season or they will look for a stop-gap. Adding Demko would just block him and it's not like Demko is more proven as a starter. Fiala is turning into that game breaker that Fenton described. There is no way that they trade him now. Media and long time Wild observers are talking of how they've hardly ever had a player like him in Wild history. He had a rough start in October but since 1 November he has been more productive than Boeser with far less favourable deployment - no PP1 and no decent C to play with.
  10. McKenzie on Insider Trading reports that there have been back and forth negotiations but that they aren't close to announce a deal. He thinks that Markstrom would want 5 years but could do 4, while the Canucks would probably prefer 3 years but might go to 4. He argues that the Canucks have given 4 years to free agents like Ferland, Roussel, Beagle so why wouldn't they give at least 4 years to the guy who has probably been their MVP. At the 3min mark: https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/insider-trading-muzzin-extension-getting-closer-canucks-eyeing-simmonds~1900123
  11. Canucks are not in a strong bargaining position. Teams know that they have very little end of season cap space and will have a bonus overage. It's known that they want to move Eriksson and have to clear cap to sign Markstrom, Tanev, Virtanen etc. I would think they would use that as leverage in any cap dump deal. Staples lists Derek Grant (700K) as well as Trevor Lewis (2M) as possible options. They are upcoming UFAs and wouldn't use up a roster spot for 2 more years. Clutterbuck and Cizikas are injured for now but will still be under contract next year. Sounds more like they need a short term solution and you are anchoring them with 2 more years of Eriksson.
  12. He doesn't have arbitration rights so they have more leverage this year. They might prefer to sign him long term at a lower deal than doing bridge.
  13. Sutter is not even listed on the list of potential targets by Staples. Adding Eriksson would leave them with only 10M in cap space next season to complete their roster - they have 4 RFAs including Barzal.
  14. From the link: Staple points to Ottawa Senators pending UFA Jean-Gabriel Pageau as a potential option, but isn't sure whether the Islanders are willing to part with a first-round pick to acquire him. He adds that Anaheim Ducks centre Derek Grant could be a cheaper option for the Islanders, along with New Jersey Devils veteran Travis Zajac, Los Angeles Kings forward Trevor Lewis or Detroit Red Wings centre Luke Glendening.
  15. The Horton contract wasn't insured by CBJ. That's why they ended up trading it to Toronto for Clarkson.
  16. It was an offer sheet courtesy of the Flyers. The Predators could have fit his 14M salary under their cap the 4 years he played for Nashville. The Predators weren't trying to circumvent the cap.
  17. Insurance pays only if he stays on LTIR. If he retires the contract is terminated and nothing more is due.
  18. Here's the opportunity to get input on your trade proposal with CBJ:

  19. Engelland was a UFA and was Vegas' pick for Calgary. They decided to sign him but could have equally allowed him to walk. Of the 30 players they have to pick only 20 players who have to be under contract the following season. If you add the draft requirement of picking at least 3 goalies + 14 Fs + 9Ds - that's 26 players. That's more than the requirement of having 20 players under contract for the following season. https://www.nhl.com/goldenknights/news/expansion-draft-full-rules/c-289403076 * Vegas must select the following number of players at each position: 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders. * Vegas must select a minimum of 20 players who are under contract for the 2017-18 season.
