They have 24M in cap space with 15 players signed. Doug Wilson talked about how they plan to go the bridge deal way for Timo Meier - likely for LaBanc too. They will probably move Brenden Dillon (3.3M) and maybe even goalie Dell (1.9M). Thornton if he comes back will go on a cheap 1 year deal. Pavelski will have to take less than market. Barracuda shares the building with them - they don't need to hold a 23 player roster and can go with 21 at home.

The Wild are not trading Dumba. They have one of the best D-corps in the league - why would they want to tear it apart when they want to compete now. They want to trade Zucker because they have too may left wings and only 1 right shot in their top-9.

From Friedman's 31 thoughts of today: 6. Alright, let’s get to some news: We are getting close to clarity on Erik Karlsson and San Jose. The Sharks have worked this hard. It is believed they’ve made him an offer that will challenge, if not surpass, Drew Doughty’s extension from last summer. Three weeks ago, I thought Karlsson was going back east for family reasons and a travel schedule that’s easier on the body. San Jose needs a decision, conversations have intensified, and I think they’ve got a shot.

[Report] Flyers place MacDonald on waivers
mll replied to CRAZY_4_NAZZY's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The Flyers want to compete now and plan to be active in free agency. They also have Provorov, Sanheim and Konecny as core RFAs to re-sign. They need a veteran goalie to play with Carter Hart. -
[Proposal] Erickson for shattenkirk
mll replied to Canucks6's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Pouliot. --- Shattenkirk took a paycut to sign with NYR. Tampa apparently offered him more but he wanted to be in that region. He has a 10-team no trade list and with teams close to the cap who don't need to be on that list - he's probably unlikely to be heading back west. -
Joe Smith wondered about the demotion at the time - behind the Athletic's paywall. https://theathletic.com/879236/2019/03/20/behind-the-mysterious-demotion-of-top-lightning-goalie-prospect-connor-ingram/ “I’ve never got arrested, broke a team rule, got in a fight with a coach or anything like that,” Ingram told The Athletic. “It’s disappointing to see that come out (on social media) and see what people are saying about it. I just think it’s a hockey move. “That’s what I have to be clear on. There was no big situation that caused all of this to happen.” So what did happen? Details are still murky. Ingram said he never missed a practice or requested a trade. “This wasn’t my decision,” he said. [...] Agent Blake Evans suggested that this was more of a situation where the Lightning wanted Ingram to be a better pro on and off the ice, and his best guess is that Ingram will be back with the Crunch by the end of the season. “Though I don’t know that for sure,” Evans added. Solar Bears coach Drake Berehowsky gave Ingram rave reviews for his work ethic and attitude since he has come down. “A lot of people are blowing things way out of proportion,” Berehowsky said. “It’s not as dramatic as everyone thinks. This is part of the way they want to progress him. They think this will be good for him as an individual.

When he made that quote he implied he had options but chose Philadelphia because he felt they were able to win sooner than later. Must have been Buffalo as Edmonton hadn't started searching yet (no GM) and LA named MacLellan the next day. 7 teams were actually without a coach at the end of the season - Florida, Philadelphia, LA, Buffalo, Ottawa and Edmonton with Anaheim still looking for a coach. Vigneault was still under contract with NYR until the end of this coming season. LA and Buffalo wanted an experienced coach. Edmonton hadn't hired Holland yet so and Tippett was still acting as advisor to Seattle - they hadn't started searching yet. Ottawa was never going to pay him and neither would Anaheim.

Only Ottawa looks to be close to the floor - some 13M and 8 players to add including Ceci and White. Ceci was on a 4.3M contract last season. NJD but they want to be active in free agency or on the trade market to add top talent - 14M to reach the floor and 9 players to add. The other teams have key RFA players to sign and will be above - Colorado with Rantanen, Carolina with Aho. Arizona is already closer to the ceiling than the floor.

Canucks don't have the pieces available that Philadelphia is looking for. They want proven impact players. They have put their 11th pick in play but Fletcher says no team has made a real push for it. They want a real good player in return - not a rental and not quantity. ROR just showed how teams typically lose when they trade the better player for quantity. The package Buffalo received is nowhere close to having the impact ROR had.
