  1. Another of those songs that remind me so very much of my Dad! Though he was no Glenn Yarbrough fan AT ALL, he made the exception for this one... and I guess the genes don't lie as Baby The Rain Must Fall shows up on a few of my playlists! Oh those days of singing in the car on trips up Island!
  2. It was also on the Washington Square LP! (Which is now in my possession! Midnight In Moscow is also engraved on my brain!
  3. I am stuck inside this song today.... sometimes life is so f*cking unfair......only 53 and gone... RIP, lovely Katherine...
  4. It's a mellow Friday night here in the Cariboo...
  5. I thought you might already have beat me to the post, D. Funny enough, Georgy Girl is probably my LEAST favourite song of Judith and the guys! She truly is a big loss to the music community and it's an even bigger loss when she's one of your own.
  6. RIP, Judith Durham. You have been part of the soundtrack of my life for many, many years. Thank you for all the beautiful music....
  7. This album is still sitting in the stack of old vinyl albums on the shelf in my basement!
  8. A little throwback Thursday music.... ok, it's a flashback.... Roy Orbison called...
  9. Well. well. well...I never thought I'd see the day. Especially when a thread about a dick-shaped dessert is acceptable.... whereas a coup attempt here in North America, just below our Southern border and the despot who led it have been a discussion thread for at least 7 years, is not....Unbelievable.

Actually, if you read the reddit post on the dick-shaped desert, the post was not meant to be a joke. Imo, there were a lot of serious issues around it: sexualization of women, cultural views of women (it was from an Asian restaurant), lack of serious apology from the restaurant, etc.

@Vinny in Vancouver I think the bigger point is that for whatever reason, that body appendage dessert thread (which has become a bit of a joke thread. even if its origin and background touches upon more serious issues) is somehow more acceptable than threads that had meaningful purpose in helping to fight misinformation and keeping the record relatively straight, and that's a problem.  Further, politics (and to a lesser extent, religion) is pervasive in everything we do, in every issue that can be discussed (even if people want to stick their fingers in their ears and say lalalalala and deny its relation to and with everything), so to blanket ban political and religious discussion from the forums is not really conducive to civil discourse (and in fact, kind of runs counter to it).  I'd have more to say, but then I'd probably start running afoul of Rule 6 in doing so, so I'll just leave it at that.

  10. Tony Sirico, Star of ‘The Sopranos’ Dead at 79 Actor’s portrayal of Paulie Walnuts — a no-nonsense mobster with distinctive wingtips and a wry sense of humor — made him a beloved figure to fans of the groundbreaking TV series “It is with great sadness, but with incredible pride, love and a whole lot of fond memories, that the family of Gennaro Anthony “Tony” Sirico Jr. wish to inform you of his death on the morning of July 8, 2022,” a post from Sirico’s brother, Robert Sirico, on Facebook read. A Warner Bros. spokesperson confirmed the authenticity of the post to Rolling Stone. “The family is deeply grateful for the many expressions of love, prayer and condolences and requests that the public respect its privacy in this time of bereavement.” “We found a groove as Christopher and Paulie and I am proud to say I did a lot of my best and most fun work with my dear pal Tony,” Sopranos co-star Michael Imperioli wrote in a post on social media. “He was beloved and will never be forgotten.” Born July 29, 1942, Sirico grew up on the mean streets of Brooklyn and was a self-described “a rough-and-tumble kid,” he told Rolling Stone in a 2001 cover story. A devotee of James Cagney movies, the young Sirico found himself drawn to the gangsters he’d see in his neighborhood. “They’re all dressed, slicked back, they got cars, they got girls, very enticing,” he said. “I got close to making a huge mistake…. I almost got too close to becoming one of those guys I portray.” Noticing Sirico had issues with authority, a friend refused to sponsor him for membership. “The good thing I had going for me not being involved profoundly with wiseguys was that I don’t like anybody telling me what to do.” Throughout his acting career, however, Sirico found himself playing the very men he admired as a youth. “And do I mind being stereotyped? “Absolutely not,” he told Rolling Stone in 2001. “I’ve paid my rent, I take care of me and Ma.” He found fans in his neighborhood tough guys as well. “They love me for being in this show,” Sirico said of his role in The Sopranos. “I’m still part of their family in their hearts. They know I’m a stand-up kid, whether I’m a tough guy or not.” More: https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-news/tony-sirico-obituary-sopranos-1380241/
