If what we are seeing from ELias is not a streak or a fluke it won't be more than a couple of weeks! Imagine if the Canucks have poor goaltending, and massive injuries and still make the play-offs? Then how many points could he lose by and be considered the MVP? If he was say 10 shy of McDavid and 2nd in goals? He probably gets a few trophies. If we are seeing Elias then he will finish top 3 in points and goals and be better defensively than all players above him. It is his rookie season but I am impressed by his response when he has been held off the scorecard. Twice he came back with 2 points. And the latter 5 points. But when you watch his game they we're on him like glue and he was hitting the man they left open to double up on him. Wait until the power play clicks because to a man people said he would only get pp points, but its his 5 on 5 play that has been the killer. The best Tweet I seen was Elias outscores the teams weaknesses. If Elias plays like this he will be MVP, Rocket Richard and Calder. Then do they throw the Selke his way? Lets not get ahead of ourselves but I have said from the start he is 100 point kid this year. My logic I can't see many games EP doesn't get at least a point. Further he is the type of player that can get 3 or 4 points (even I didn't dare call the 5 pt night) But now that he has had a 5 pt night and early in the season, this is exactly what the SHL watched him do last year. Then people started saying the SHL is not as good in years past (The numbers show scoring to be harder now than in the past). Maybe Elias is that good. And its really tough to be calling him better than McDavid and I am not going to say that. But I will say McDavid will not get as many points in a season as a mature Elias will get. The next two games will be a big indication. teams will be focused on him as good as teams can do.

[GDT] Vancouver Canucks @ Calgary Flames 7:00 PM PT cory40 replied to MattJVD's topic in Canucks Talk mY early prediction of Elias getting 8 pts in his first 10 games looks so possible now!

Jackson McDonald @failsonmcdonald By just about any objective measure, the Canucks shouldn't be a good team. You have to think the run will come to an end soon. But what intrigues me about them is that for the first time in years they have the offensive talent to outperform expectations. 10:15 PM - Nov 2, 2018

Are we talking Video games? Or better at cooking? Because their is only one EP!

The amazing thing about Elias is he compares to so many different players. At the end of the day their might only ever be one Elias!

Anyone remember when I came back from Penticton and stated he would have 7 points in his first 10 games? Yeh I took a lot of criticism for that! Well he has 10 points in his first 7 games. And I expect him to get better as the season progresses something I have stated before the season began. And Elias has usually gotten better at the 7 to 9 game mark. The goals may calm down a little like .750 from 1.00 but the apples will increase. His start is exactly what I expected! Now for the remainder of the season he will at least average a point per game. But I expect us (fans of CDC) to start seeing multiple point games from him a little more. He is on a 1.43 ppg clip at a new position in a new size NORTH AMERICAN ice. And getting points 5 on 5, something most felt he couldn't do because of his size. He is still learning the trade. What I am noticing is his game is built for our ice. He is quick and as soon as he draws people in he makes a great pass. Imagine if he cheated more offensively? Or what if the coaches put him on the point on the power play? You could guarantee brock would get some nice set-ups! BTW he has played power play QB very effectively in Sweden. And I will say it again Elias reminds me of Mario. He can go out their and get points on a off night. And when he shows up look out. We are going to see a 3 or 4 point night from him very soon. What impresses me is this: He is consistent. very seldom misses on the score sheet, and that's not new. He has been doing it for 3 or 4 years now at levels where his size was in doubt. He made a play that impressed me more than his block and break-away last night. He went at Suter and blocked a clearing attempt and drew a elbow in the head. Guys, and Gals Suter is not a 4th 5th or 6th defenseman. He is like a number 1 or number 2 on any team in the NHL. That's how you read talent! He does it against the very best of defensemen! Suter went to the penalty box wondering how Elias got on him so fast and blocked the dump out! When you watch Elias, he is skating casually ,going to the right spot, and with a quick stride he is as fast as he needs to be. He has just missed almost every game at a read that would have put him all alone. Scary when you think he is still figuring things out! When do you fans think we will quit being told do dampen our expectations? How many feel Elias can get 40 plus goals? Does anyone here feel Elias will go 20 games with-out a point? I think he has 2 games with-out a point already! For every game he is held off the scoresheet does he rebound with two points? Something he has done twice now (I think)! Hhe is already starting to drive play offensively! If you think I need to temper my expectations don't be afraid to give me a frown in the like column. BTW I am enjoying this forum and the many views from fello CDC'ers!

At least you validated your statement with " I don't think". His hands are off the charts. His skating is better than the above in the fact he has many speeds. And it all adds up to elusive. many feel Elias is going to slow down. Or it is not sustainable. But here is a fact he is just warming up!

I watched Bure his whole career also and I saw a selfish player a floater a player that only did what Pavel wanted. Elias will be a better point producer than Pavel even in todays NHL. Will he score 60. Well its too soon to say. But his I have noticed with Elias he passes to players who are in scoring positions . He thinks the game better than Pavel ever did. Bure's speed cost him his career. Its McDavid I worry about for career injuries. Players can be too fast! Teamu Selanne had to slow down to extend his career and avoid injuries.
-
Bure was selfish! Elias has all the tools to be a player compared to none!

What really impresses me 7 games in is this: Everyone (or most, and you know who you are) claimed he would struggle 5 on 5 to put up points and would dominate on the power play. But it has been his 5 on 5 play where most of his points have been claimed!

Might be the uni-cycle? or he rode a old kx 420? That would teach him to be alert! But my money is on the uni cycle!

https://www.tsn.ca/radio/vancouver-1040/mckenzie-pettersson-not-taking-his-foot-off-the-pedal-1.1200874 Bob McKenzie says Elias could get 30 35 goals. But todays NHL is to hard to keep up the pace he is on. Which I agree, But would not be surprised if he keeps his 1.4 ppg pace. Considering learning center, learning the ice and doing fine!

I love it!

CanucksPlace @canucksplace 9m9 minutes ago More CanucksPlace Retweeted Vancouver Canucks “Who do you think? Me? ... the medical team.” - Elias Pettersson when asked about who’s making the call on when he returns. That was some sass. Trust me guys, this kid is angry and motivated as ever. I have a feeling we’re about to see another level when he returns. #Canucks

Its a excellent post! Vancouver Media get more exposure if they run the Canucks down. Its kind of like they're from Toronto! Its why the Canucks should lock the media out regardless of NHL rules. Botchford can quite swearing online to boot,

I feel sad! I don't know why I have not got mine? I have left several hints. I wonder if my wife would mind if I buy her one for our tenth anniversary next week? She still getting over the table saw I got her last year!

Did the doctor examine EP? He is clearly not a very good doctor. Doctors shouldn't tell patients they have cancer before they know themselves. Just further proof why the Canucks are covered by the worst media in pro sports! With a couple exceptions!

I have seen people fall off a two story roof and be fine. The next guy trips over his shoe lace and is crippled. You can't look at the play and know the results. To me it looks like the province is fishing!

Rick Dhaliwal @DhaliwalSports · 15h Todd Bertuzzi on the Matheson suspension: After looking, it was on the crappier side of hits. It was definitely a punishable offense although I can see why he was angry, losing his jock-strap on the previous play. #Canucks down

Listen! Even if it was a clean hockey play, Your best player is laying on the ice. You go after him at the whistle! Whats so hard about that! Lets go to the bench and watch a replay>

So you're telling me my wife does want something! Interesting.
