  1. Man you need to listen to some of the quotes and scouts from they predict immediate impact player. Generational. I am saying he is also a rare player like Elias. And the Canucks are so lucky to have him! He will out point Dhalins rookie year also! As has Elias with McDavid. BTW same kind of responses from fans last summer about Elias! Its something special happening in Vancouver! Bo Elias Brock and Quinn!
  2. Just Like Elias against his peers he needs better players to play with!
  3. Hughes won't be compared to anyone other than Dhalin, the player he will get more points than his entire career! Consider it another lottery win from the NHL! Sometimes picking first handicaps you. Especially if scouting has not selected the top player in the draft as top 5! Happens way more than you might think! Hughes will be the best offensive defenseman in last years draft. Like I have said 100 times. Rasmus Dhalin is on a .5ppg clip at 40 games. With Rasmus I have seen the same traits in the NHL as I watched in his draft year. Really unbelievable moves but lacks finish! Plus Quinn will have Boeser and Pettersson to feed! (Ouch)
  4. I gotta say I have watched the Canucks since the 82 run. I was a little worried about wasting time this year watching the chase for hughes. But man I can't wait until they play! I have watched every rookie highlight package available on You tube and man, At half a season he has just as many top tier highlights as any Calder winner! The thing the NHL needs to consider is this -"If Elias does win the Hart this year who really has a shot when he is leading the league by a land slide in years to come?" In my mind this is the last year for a while where the Hart will be up for grabs!
  5. What if he gets 50? And has like 12 to 14 game winning goals? I will say it now Elias heats up and has a better second half than first half! With 40 he doesn't win the hart but he will get some consideration! 50 he gets it! Only if the Canucks make the play-offs. And their may be others with better credentials but the NHL is about advertising and Elias is making headwinds across the board! What better than having the super rookie lead the canucks to the promised land score the winning goal on the first upset in the play-offs and not looking back until the third round when a unnamed Referee makes some Phantom calls. PS Elias has 5 game winning goals since DEC 5th!
  6. The year isn't over yet! He lis tied for the lead in the NHL in game winning goals, The fact that he could heat up and get 50. Plus help a team 100% (excluding fans) had in the Hughes sweepstakes, So if he gets 50 goals and 50 ish assists and the Canucks make the play-offs? What accomplishments would you have as greater? 1ST year on smaller ice! 1st full year as a center ice man! Best shooting percentage in the NHL! In fact if you take out the 13 game slide the Canucks had (riddled with injuries) He has been before that stretch and after among the top 5 in ppg! McDavid gets points in bunches but unlike Pettersson its often on the losing side of the score! You say enjoy the ride and I agree, But I say hold on for the ride because everything gets easier for the Canucks in terms of rest and home games!
  7. Well I was pushing for Elias! He traditionally gets way stronger as he gets into a season. I have noticed that he seldom makes the same mistake twice. And when he fails he really works on the why! Maybe that's what it takes to be Generational!
  8. http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/elias-pettersson-canucks-mvp-talk With Ep's defensive awareness and his goal scoring prowess could he be in the MVP talk. a couple excerpts from the article! “Here’s my bold prediction for 2019,” Elliotte Friedman said on the HNIC panel. “Vancouver, I don’t know who on December 29th thought we’d be talking about them being in a playoff position… but if they get in, not only is Pettersson going to win the Calder, but he’s going to be getting MVP votes.” Nick Kypreos agreed. “A hundred percent,” said Kypreos. “And I don’t think it’s a bold prediction either.” After his hot start, everyone knew the rest of the league would begin to get wise to his tricks, making things more difficult. But perhaps he’s figuring out the rest of the league a bit too. Pettersson now has a healthy Brock Boeser to play with, which makes the Canucks’ attack much more lethal. Pettersson has scored 1.3 points per game in December, which is better than last year’s Hart Trophy winner Hall, who scored 1.22 points per game. Pettersson has 39 points (19-20-39) in 35 games, and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. He leads the Canucks in goals, assists, and points, and is a lock to represent his team at the All-Star Game next month. My two cents. Hard to ignore how good elias has been. In fact if you take out the 12 game stretch that injuries (not just one) derailed the Canucks Elias is closer to 1.5 pts than the 1.4 he has averaged in Dec! The one part of the article said "After his hot start, everyone knew the rest of the league would begin to get wise to his tricks, making things more difficult. But perhaps he’s figuring out the rest of the league a bit too." And the hard thing to imagine he could easily have 10 more points. Just watch the video above. And that's not including any cross bars or post's he has hit. https://canucksarmy.com/2017/06/15/nation-network-2017-prospect-profiles-5-elias-pettersson/ another older article Pettersson’s performance was largely unprecedented for an 18-year old in the Allsvenskan, and so he has no statistical matches, successful or otherwise. In 2015-16, his point rate at the professional level granted him an expected success rate of 43%, highly impressive in a draft-minus-one season. Of all the players on our Top 100 list, only Pettersson and AJHL standout Cale Makar had zero players meet the similarity threshold – historical data doesn’t do us much good because they are making history themselves. One thing that seems readily apparent is that Pettersson has a fantastic effect on his linemates. His GF% WOWY chart, shown below, is just about as ideal as one could imagine: every single player he played with had significantly better on-ice results with him than away from him – including Dahlen. One potential reason that Pettersson isn’t ranked higher by many mainstream services is his international play this season. With a November birthday, he was too old to participate in the World Under-18’s by the time they rolled around. While he made Sweden’s Under-20 squad and played in the World Junior Championship, he certainly wasn’t dominant, picking up a single assist in six games. However, during the Four Nations tournament in Gothenburg in November, also against U20 competition, he put up seven points in just three games. Unfortunately, the Four Nations tournaments get significantly less play than the WJC, so the latter performance is the one that is typically talked about. My two cents again! It appears much of the Swedish hype is transferring to the NHL. One stat( and I hope to find its source this week) had his points translating to the NHL at well over 2 ppg but also said considering that isn't possible Elias should be a solid 1 ppg player. As in the article above it also mentioned it was hard to find comparable, simply because Elias is on new ground. I ask you this if McDavid and Elias were lets say with in .2 ppg who would you take? Considering Elias doesn't cheat to get points. (imagine if he did?) The fact that he is able to play the 200 ft game so well at such a small stature, makes you wonder where his ceiling could be. And when his skating catches up to his growth spurt. I am sticking to my earliest of predictions Elias should be the players others chase in the NHL scoring race in the not so near future!
  9. Wow! Your post must of hit a funny bone, because at the start of the year I was planning extra nights with the family and saying to myself I can just watch the 7 min game recaps! But your right this team has been a TEAM! And its starting to resemble a team that could have a run that catches the play-offs or could be derailed by injuries! That's what happens when you get two really good players in back to back years. And add BO ane wow. I concur with your statement about the video from that perspective!
  10. I have been hard on Goldy. But he seldom makes the right play. He seldom hustles and he seldom hits the net when he shoots. Some say he has the talent. But I feel he doesn't have the speed for his style of game. Kind of like Yakapov the next Bure who like Goldy doesn't have the foot speed!
  11. You can't watch this and not cry if you cheer for Calgary or Edmonton. Or think Generational if you cheer for Vancouver. Watching the rookie winner highlight packages and Elias compares to them all in sheer High talent plays and he has half a year left.... Ouch
  12. How about Petey? If the Canucks didn't have that 13 game of stretch of injuries where Petey didn't even have a winger! ( Maybe Goldy) but man the team was in tough to just get the puck out of their end! Petey could have 10 more points! Just MDZ being set up by EP alone could have added 5 points. Why can't MDZ shoot? He could havet least 5 point s of players missing wide open nets!
  13. So I wonder who goes on waivers?
  14. Welcome Back Boys and girls!

  15. You say contract year. I say a year where forwards are scoring more and getting points for the whole team. He is a stud and I hope he stands firm and doesn't waive. we need him here. Or we could just enjoy our team in Sept when the predictions are high like Edmonton. Or be there in April because we have a balanced team!
  16. Just wanted to share my 2000 point with some friends. Just love your views even when I disagree …………………….
  17. Could see Gaudette as the Kesler type center, Seems to have a motor that won't quit! Could he heat up a little. I doubt we send him down!
  18. Don't think Goldy is showing enough to be in the Canucks future! Think is leash is getting shorter!
  19. That's a good point. I see Lou getting on a hot streak and hitting 50 points!
  20. Man what a steal with Boeser. he could (once he gets his form back) be the Mike Bossy of this team!
  21. I would hate to see Edler go.Swedish players tend to go strong until they retire. Alex looks like he is getting better every year!
  22. Jake has been a pleasant surprise this year!
  23. A side note EP is doing everything at a weight many thought impossible to play at the NHL level. When he puts on 20 lbs wow he will be a unstoppable force!
