EP is untouchable!
-
The fact that EP is doing what he is doing and he will only get stronger abodes well for EP. McDavid won't have many more opportunities to win the Art Ross.
-
How does Elias compare to McDavids rookie season so far? Hard to beat McDavids rookie season but man is Elias doing it!
-
I would rather play fornite than practice! Yeh lots of ways to steer teams!
-
Is Quinn as talented as Jack? Would he have gone 1 or 2 if he was a forward? I have said since the lottery last year! Rasmus is not the best offensive defenseman in the draft. In my mind (still has to be played out) Quinn will be a high point producing defenseman and the highest to come out of the 2018 draft as he was already playing with men!. And in todays NHL his skating could be something that makes 6 other teams wonder why they didn't take Quinn. Detroit is going to be the team that regrets it the most, because they had their eye on him! We currently do not have a defenseman that can skate backwards walking the line on the power play creating open ice and different looks! Going forward Quinn probably could step right into the NHL! Wait until March! he step in and help with a play-off push? And if he does, would you want to be the team facing the Canucks in the first round? Don't get me wrong to me the 11 game stretch is going to bite them. But man have the Canucks been decent especially if you take that stretch out. (clearly injury related results) And I am proud of management for not letting the kids use excuses!

Not going to happen any way you slice it!
-
When you have Elias you don't need Jack!
-
Brady Tkatchuk gets a point tonight! Does he gain on Elias or lose ground by nights end?
-
Its not over hyping! Its what he is doing! He gets most of his points 5 on 5! And most of his assists are primary. By the ratings of what he is doing he is hyping himself! We watched McDavid and we watched Matthews, Neither have made the charts in there first 30 games with Lindros and other starts! And As good as McDavid is becoming, wait till Elias gets going! finds his bearings. He is still learning the north American game! Kind of scary to think in a redraft he would be the lottery player!
-
A lot of fans saying Hughes will be better than Dhalin! And a lot saying he won't. He will add a dimension that will make the Canucks Stanley cup contenders in the future. And I am saying it like I have said before the draft when we didn't get the number 1 pick. Hughes will prove to be just like Elias. The year he is spending developing is crucial to the player he will end up being! Wasn't rushed and that will add to his maturity. Look out if the Canucks do squeak into the play-offs and get Hughes in the spring!

Bure has a hall of fame career. But Nobody in the NHL have a tool box as complete as EP. And that has to burn other fans of other teams. Simply because If you have EP and he outscores head to head the other teams number 1 center. Mainly because he has such a defensive side to him. That's what wins cups. Bure didn't even know what his own end of the ice looked like!
-
How about 2 five point games before he has played 30 games? Can any NHL player claim that?
-
Just saying: He is the only modern day player on a list with his points in the first 28 games played! With the likes of Mario Joe Sakic and Lindros! And if you said he would be learning a new position playing on a smaller ice surface. Elias will be the points leader in the NHL very soon. McDavid has 10 points in his last 5 games and Elias has 11.Thats the current year! Wait until Elias gets a little stronger. Elias has been lights out as a rookie. And what has NHL scouts drooling is everything Elias touches is a primary point. His primary point total is a mile ahead of any prospect or rookie for the last decade. A quick question for you! Do you think Elias will finish higher than 1.18? I bet a minimum of 1.3 by years end! Considering he has found a new gear and looks comfortable as a number 1 or 2 center based on the defensive pairings he is drawing!
-
he may not be Gretzky but soon he will be the points leader in the NHL. Book it, mark it! I was thinking year 3! But by this years end he will be right up there. And next year wow he has no ceiling!
-
For Elias this year!
-
Just posting the facts. yeh McDavid was a year younger. But Elias is playing on a new ice size and in a new position. As of 4 or 5 games ago it looked like he is finally getting the little things that will lead to more points! Maybe he will even catch McDavid this year? Who Knows Hitch is now coaching!
-
Some players need to adapt to ore than just Hockey. language culture and rink size. Very few Elias Pettersson type players out there!
-
McDavid averaged 1.07 ppg.. Elias is at 1.15 Still lots of hockey left. I expect Elias to finish about 1.30 ish. And last I looked that is better. In fact 1.07 is better. In fact most of the charts being shown with Elias's points per game. McDavid isn't even on the lists neither is Matthews. Like I have said in many posts your watching the future NHL points leader so enjoy. He gets points with skill and hockey IQ. McDavid has to work hard for his points he isn't going to out think the defenders.. Elias just may be the most Gretzky like player the NHL has seen since Gretzky. And Gretzky was never the fastest. He was never the best stick handler yet he had a uncanny way to get 3 and 4 point nights. Well I am a broken record but so far so good. Elias will usually get a ppg. But many nights he will be up there in the 2-4 point range. Could he have a few more 5 point nights this year? Hard to imagine him having a slump like the last 10 games! Considering the Canucks have a decent schedule from here on out!

Lets see EP at the 45 game mark. as he is just finding his way and getting better.

Its been fun to watch Elias this season. Many who followed him including NHL players and Coaches are not as surprised at his start. It in my mind (as small minded as I am) validates the SHL. I know last year when Elias was taking off some journalists (cough cough Ray Ferarro) were saying the SHL is depleted of talent making it easier for points to be scored. Yet Elias seemed to be the only young gun scoring at his pace. Fast forward to this year! Too small to play in the NHL. Too small to play center! And myself after watching him in Penticton I for sure thought "This kid is good, but he is never going to win a face-off" I expected him to have a break-out game only because he was getting lots of chances for points just not much puck luck! During the road stretch. Now into dec and he leads all rookies in goals /Assists/ and plus minus and sits 37th in NHL scoring. I am thinking he is just hitting his stride and comfort level at Center. I noticed the last 3 or 4 games he is gaining confidence in the little areas and he is finding ways to create space when he is heavily checked. Like his goal this afternoon against St Louis where he used his own player to create a gap! For all those upset at the term Generational player being used. He is off too a generational start. Just like last year he was with some impressive players with his accomplishments. This year so far he with players like Crosby and that's something to be said even McDavid and Matthews didn't achieve those credentials in their rookie years. It must have a few teams worried that he is only 170 ish pounds. With a little weight he will get faster and a little steadier. Sportsnet runs the top 50 plays each week. Elias seems to always be in the top 10! Now the team is getting healthier and their schedule seems to be on the easier side from here on in they could squeak into the play-off picture.

Gotta love Tsn! I laughed when I read that too. now look Brady has slipped to .84 ppg. Elias is like the Canucks best player! Brady is finding his way in Ottawa. And a little side note for Brady fans. He has not been a point per game player at lower levels! Can't expect him to become one now!
-
Too true! And if you watch the highlight reels Elias would probably have to go stone cold to lose it! I myself figure he is about to get hot again! Finally he has time to practice and that he has been doing! So if Brady and Elias tie how does Elias lose it? He can't. And Brady will go through his cold spell also. PPG Elias is once again on top!
-
He will be fine. Nothing to worry about if you look at the plays he has been making and the lack of finish with his line mates. and the travel. The schedule gets a lot easier from here on in!
-
EP has played on a very heavy road schedule. He has played with-out NHL top 6 caliber wingers. (now Brock is back). Goldy has lacked finish and if he is a set-up man he doesn't need EP! Petterson will run away with the rookie scoring race as this team finds health and normal scheduling! Elias has looked tired the last 10 games and this home stretch he has started to look himself again. EP also should have had 5 plus more points just playing with better players. At least that's the amount of apples players have missed from his stick! What has impressed me is EP doesn't play like a small player. He doesn't shy away from the tough areas. And if a bad month for EP is 6g and 6a in 14 games. Wait till the team gets their feet again. I am not buying this is the Canucks we expected! They were so wore out after the stretch of games every other night the whole team has looked sluggish. You play out of slumps and that's what we are seeing! Expect better results as this team learns they are not as bad as people think. How many teams could handle the injuries with the schedule and do any better? Its not making excuses! Its calling a spade a spade. I am proud of the boys they have played better the last few games and they are getting some needed depth back!

Imagine if MDZ didn't hit the post twice. LOL EP with-out Brock doing what he did was still amazing! Not to mention the schedule. Never have I seen any team play as many games with flights in between with only 1 day off for such a long stretch.
