  1. I'm pretty sure we have no NHL scouts or coaches. Some guys that seem like they know quite a bit and may have played college or CHL or even some pro hockey but I don't think NHL guys are taking time to comment on our forum.
  2. I would think that he is worth about 4.8 to 5 mill. for 6 or 7 years. As a center who could be your "C" worth a bit more than JD got from the Canadians (or from TB). I don't think Bo is a 1st line center. He is a good 2nd line center that won't score more than 30 goals a season & 65 or 70 points. I love Bo and hope he plays his whole career here but that is just how I see him progressing.
  3. Just heard EP was hurt in a tourny down in the States. Hope he's ok. Apparently an upper body injury.
  4. I totally agree. Thinking that BB or NG would benifit from time in Utica isn't a put down. Just wanting the very best for their development so they can be even better than they are now. Utica looks like they could have a better team than ever. Making for a real positive experience for the guys playing there. I know if asked, they would say they would rather be on a poor team in the NHL than a good one in the AHL but would it not be better for them in the long run to be in the AHL on a good team when they are younger? I know when I was that age I would have said the NHL but I would have been wrong. The AHL would have been the right choice. Its just harder to make the right choice with out the benifit of experience.
  5. Yes, and that is why his time in the AHL was well spent. Just like some specific time spent on working on NG's defensive game would be of benifit. just like it was for SB. I wonder if NG time in the A was spent targeting his defensive game instead of just reafirming his offensive skills.
  6. The thing with Baertchi is that he isn't a liability defensively.
  7. If NG doesn't improve his puck pursuit and be harder on coming back on defence all his offencive skills will be cancelled out by a horrible plus minus. If he gets sent down to Utica it will be to work on that. I don't think you can be a top 6 forward without atleast an average defensive game as well.
  8. The Canucks have put Bo back on the web site as their leading goal scorer. Could this mean they are close to signing him? Or is it just the Canucks are just correcting a mistake?
  9. Something I have noticed over the years of watching hockey is that it is common to see a player after a trade that it can take a season for some players to get comfortable in a new city and hocley team. Add the fact that EG had wrist surgery and missed most of the season, we have not seen the best of EG. I think with a season here in Vancouver to settle in with the team and the city along with his wrist fully healed, he is going to have a real bounce back season this year and be the player we all expected when we traded for him last summer. He is a big strong guy who plays with an edge; the exact kind of player we need.
  10. I don't understand why he isn't listed as a left winger when so many here seem to believe he plays better on his off wing. I am pretty sure he only played on the left in the WHL. Is it just because he is right handed or are they seeing something we don't. I may be wrong but are left wingers harder to come by? Is it like trying to find that hard to come by right handed d-man?
  11. Thanks for the info. The clarification is helpful.
  12. So each team has the control to post or not to post. It doesn't mean there is a problem, just more time to work it all out. Is it centrally managed through New York (the owners) or is it the NHLPA that monitors the info we see? Thanks for the clarification
  13. Is anyone concerned that Bo is not listed on the Canucks site as their leading scorer? I know I mentioned this before but it seems strange to me. Is there a chance they trade him (please don't crucify me for mentioning the dreded TRADE word)? I've always thought of him as a player they wouldn't consider trading. Does it have anything to do with not being allowed to use his name unless he is actually under contract? I am not that familiar with the legal side of how contracts work.
  14. You are definitly right about the toughness of the smaller players. I don't think you would last very long if you skated around with your tail between your legs. I still have memories of the Oilers teams over the last 5 or 10 years having their younger and smaller guys get kicked around but add the size they have now and guys think twice about going after McDavid. I never played hockey past college but It always amazes me when I see them live and the speed at which the game is played. I still think they need to get bigger though. I agree they are not fragile but they are on the smaller side.
  15. I think because we are so small up front that Virtanen has to make the team. We have so many little guys with barely any protection. Its like that draft video said about a safe work enviroment (hope my spelling is correct). He is going to have to be pretty bad not to make it. We just need to be bigger and faster.
  16. Is it possible that when the Sedin's leave they want him there to help the up and coming youngers (JD & EP).
  17. Has anyone noticed that Bo' name was taken off the Canucks page and the leading scorer with 19 goals is listed there as Granlund. Is this a leagal thing and they can't have his name up until his contract?
  18. I maybe off here but don't you also have to consider the time period they are playing in as well. Scoring in the 80's and 90's was a bit easier than it is now. Scoring 20 goals a season has become the new 30 goal season. Comparing Jake straight up against these guys mentioned earlier without looking a bit deeper and considering context isn't a fair comparision.
  19. That actually sounds better. I think Goldy & Gagner are both playmakers. I also think Gagner will be the 2C.
  20. Brock on RW, Bo C, and Jake on LW would work. Jake is better on his left in my opinion. Theycould have a set-up guy though.
  21. Oh come on bro', lets give him the benifit of the dought just once. He does get beat up a bit here. Give him a break this once. Time for a bit of charity.
  22. Jake last summer put on pounds thinking he needed to, to play a heavier game and it put him in a situation that made it hard to keep up in game situations. He needed to loose 20 lb. He was sent down to do that and learn a little more about what it meant to be a pro (Mature a bit as well). According to JB, TL and TG he has done that so we are all hoping he has done that and is going to show up to camp ready to resume his NHL career.
  23. Sounds good guys. I like the banter back and forth but kinda' hate the bitchiness that some seem to exibit.
  24. If you want Rob_Zepp to let you express your opinions, you have to let him do the same, logic demands it. After all aren't we all just expressing opinion. None of us actually work for the Canucks and have the inside track on anything: even though we act like it sometimes.
  25. Grennier I believe has signed with Florida.
