  1. 9 games is just not a large enough sample size to judge him and say he is making the team. I don't think he is a lock for opening night and that is not a bad thing. Going to the Comets could be a great opportunity for him improve his speed and confidence.
  2. Rummors abound that Lastname has spent the summer with Willy Nylander in Sweden and they have become fast friends. Willy is going to Leaf's management to ask for a trade to Vancouver to play on a line with Lastname and Jake Virtanen. He wants to help Jake dispell any dought that the Canucks made the right choice in drafting him first.
  3. I really wonder if it would be too much to have both Troy and Jordan in the line up. Can we have 2 undersized d-men in the line up considering the size of our competition in our division?
  4. I think that with a well healed wrist and a year of settling in and feeling comfortible here, Eric will have a good year and provide much needed toughness in our line-up.
  5. I often ask myself the same thing.
  6. Just as a side note for fun. The anceint Greek root word for Rock or Mass of Rock is Petra. The way he is built seems to fit his name.
  7. Tanev for Demers straight up would be a horrible trade. No way they make that trade.
  8. I think the Canucks would really like to see Jake in the line up this year and with the improvement he has made off the ice, he maybe actually more ready now than he was last year or the year before. JB, TL and TG are all saying he has made big steps in maturity and have been quite positive about Jake's progress. IMO (and in the end of the day thats what most of us are giving here) I think Jake will do well this year and suprise us all. In the end of the day TL, JB and TG are way more informed than any of us and I will trust what they are saying about were Jake is at in his developement and his readiness for this coming season.
  9. Is it possible that we see Petrus and or Jonah suprise everyone and force the Canucks to keep them this season? I recognize this is a long shot but these things do happen sometimes. I realize it doesn't happen for the Canucks (our luck isn't that good usually) but may be our luck can change.
  10. Isn't the point being made that he is one of the best defensive defensemen in the league?
  11. He said, she said is a terrible form of debate. Give us at least something to prove your point instead of just his friend telling your friend. Sounds like that game we played as kids called Chinese Telephone.
  12. I think JB has proven he drafts well. The Canucks has never in their history had so many potental NHLers in their system. We will be seeing the players JB has chosen start to be elegible to play in the AHL. I have confidence that our 5th pick will be Glass. He seems to be an ideal center to complement Bo.
  13. The things I've heard from commentators (TSN, SportsNet ect.) Goldy seems to be a bit ecclectic and flighty. Point being that he may not be responsible defensively enough to play in the NHL. Dahlen seems to have a high hockey IQ and more solid in the defensively.
  14. How do you all think Goldobin and Dahlen measure up against each other? I am wondering if Dahlen may be the more complete player. They seem close offensively but Dahlen maybe a better defensive player. He may have a better chance at making the team than Goldobin does.
  15. I can't believe that people can just throw comments like this without any proof to back it up. If he was doing all this partying don't you think someone would snap a few pics and post them on the internet. All I've seen are a few pics of him working out and rollerblading with the other prospects around Stanley Park. Do the people posting this crap realize that no one believes it. When I see proof (like a pic on the internet) I will believe it but how about we show the kind of maturity we expect from him and not post this kind of BS.
  16. I noticed that Jonathan Dahlen isn't there. Does this mean that he is on the outs with these guys as well? He has been is Vancouver working out with these guys. Seems like a stretch to me.
  17. Maybe if we could stay clear of blasting other posters and keep the discussion on Jake and not each other it may help make this thread a little less hostile. The thread is about Jake not us.
  18. Or maybe he didn't like the band.
  19. www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-diB65scQU Good for all to listen to.
  20. Don't worry, not trolling (sounds like a song) its passion!!!
  21. I have to come back to the fact that he is 20 years old. On the young side of his draft. Its too soon to call him a failure or total disappointment. He is developing and at a speed not fast enough for some but developing none the less. I believe the more important thing is what is going on in his head. Is he starting to think like a pro. The things I've heard from Jim and Travis are that: 1. Green - When he came down he had a good attitude. 2. Green - He got discurraged because because he wasn't putting up points and that was the perfect opportunity to breakdown his game in order to develop his two-way game. 3. Green & Benning - Jake is a good guy with a good heart. 4. Green - In the last 6 weeks of the season he was one of our best players. 5. Benning - Jake is and has made major strides in the areas we wanted him to work on down in Utica. It sounds like to me that Jake has turned it around and is now heading in the right direction mentally and that is huge. He wasn't mature enough last year but he seems to have turned it around in that way which is a big deal. Hearing him speak in interviews and the little blurbs you hear on the internet, he sounds more mature as well. I'm a bit of a glass half full guy but I do recognize the benefit of healthy evaluation. So I hope all the comments keep coming (+ & -) and I choose to believe the guys that are a little more negative are just passionate for our team and want the same thing as me, a Stanley Cup.
  22. More than anyone we should be listening to what Greener has said about Jake. Green obviously has had a huge impact on Jake abd he thinks Jake is now in the right head space and has made major strides in understanding what it means to be an NHL player. If Green says he is on track, then I believe him. Also, not every prospect is going to develop like Bo. Some just are not as mature as Bo was. That is to be expected from 18, 19 and 20 year old kids.
  23. I would think after Beibergate there would be no more pictures of concerts.
  24. It is a bit frustrating to discuss this because no matter where you are on this topic, there is no way to resolve it until we see how he does at camp. I can speculate that he is in the NHL next year and scores 15 goals and you may say he is in the AHL lucky if he gets a call up. This is a bit frustrating. I want an answer sooner.
